Australian Crawl - Lakeside Lyrics

I said, hey, do you remember
Where we used to sit?
All them summer rubber-necks kept coming
To panel-van street
We just yacht club dancing, city girls were rich
I'm going to sneak out my window at four in the morning
Going to meet them on the beach

Lakeside, lakeside, lakeside
Steal away, hide away
Lakeside, lakeside, lakeside
I just can't wait, I just can't wait

I got a terrific Torana
A green hand going to wave bye-bye
I got a C.B. shuffle and a dashboard muffle
Pilot's twitch my eye
I've seen them from the mallway, supermarket spy
From the frozen goods section, the delicatessen
I've seen them racing by

They're going to wallow in the shallows
Great puce hippo
Bar-b-que and blubber
Please don't show, please don't show
They're going to steal my sand space
Out where the comperes go
You shoulda seen 'em bathers!
No hero, no hero
I said, hey, do you remember
Going cruising for a nude?
Spot-pickin'em, sand kicken'em
All the lousy and the lewd

  7. P.... T....

Australian poets from a long gone urban Sun drenched era, such optimism, lithe and lean, suntanned faces, flashing teeth, mullets (except Billie), home grown Adonises untouched by age, unwearied by the world ...

Another top crawl song and James was always sexy AF.

DANIEL FARIA lol no that's the easy beats! Look em up and stand corrected

    D.... F....

I could understand the Beatles lyrics.

Australian Crawls odd approach makes me want me want to dance or sing their stuff. Apart from Oh No Not You Again, that song is so smooth you'd pay big money get get a Rum or Whisky that matches the song.

But if you sing Aussie Crawl & people can understand you, your're doing it wrong.
    Another Whisky please!

@John Sergei My biggest surprise with the James Reyne to English translation was near the start of Shut Down. I thought the line was 'she's also rude and she's on to you' but apparently it's 'it's oh such rue that she's done to you.'

  17. J.... I....

    I've got a terrific torana

  18. S.... C....
