August Burns Red - Carbon Copy Lyrics
This is our burden
The pain we endure
We must carry it together
It will soon become a memory
but we just turn the other way
Take the easy route while millions of people's homes fall to the ground
Merciless and unforgiving as it sets us back
The truth could bury us all in the end
You and I walk carefully
As we lighten our step and hope that our tracks just disappear
We don't want to leave an imprint
This can't be what we're known for
I'll leave the world as it was given to me
Flowing full of life, filled with diversity
I'll leave the world as it was given to me
Flowing full of life, filled with diversity
I can look with pride in my child's eyes
And he will know
I helped preserve what may have died
And he will know
What I've done
(He will know, he will know)
We will look ahead
The trail I've left won't lead the history books
Right back to me, right back to me
This generation won't let it all
Just slip away, slip away
Don't let it slip away
I'll walk forward and sense the ground beneath me
The choice is mine, I need to make the right one
The earth may remember what we have done
The choice is mine, I need to make the right one

August Burns Red Carbon Copy Comments
This album is flawless. Ive been listening to it since its release and every month my favourite song seems to change. This might be a definite favourite though. Or maybe generations.
What a great album never get sick of it
so god damn heavy it has it creates its own gravitational field
Best part ❤️ 2:45
Who needs anti depressants when you have August Burns Red!
1:02 The best arrange of August Burns Red.
Jb you're fucking amazing
This is wonderful
Am I the only one who hears the direct similarity to basically anything from Erra's "Augment" album? So far from being a bad thing, this might be one of the best, most fulfilling to-length albums I've ever heard. This album deserves to be played in it's entirety in concert, like right now.
This the only bands that can get me in the feels just with a guitar riff 😤
I hope Dustin writes more than two songs on the next album. He's clearly the best guitarist and song writer in the band.
Dustin + JB = Holy Riff
Great song
Cant wait to see them perform live again next month!
When a Riff from ABR is better then most Metal bands Leads solo
I nutted so hard to that intro.
2005 Thrill Seeker
2007 Messengers
2009 Constellations
2011 Leveler
2012 Sleddin' Hill
2013 Rescue & Restore
2015 Found in Far Away Places Fearless
2017 Phantom Anthem
2019... ;D
The most sentimental song I hear from august. Sounds slow but heavy
That. Fucking. Riff.
After hearing this song and Lifeline, it’s pretty clear that Dustin is the best guitarist in the band. Just a beast of a writer! Epic riff age.
I think it's safe to say that this is their Black Album (i.e. full maturation of the band and *their* sound). All of their other records have a unique and different sound that distinguishes them from the previous ones - you could tell they were experimenting and exploring new ideas while still maintaining their core sound (and managing to put out the same great quality music). Over a decade of experimentation, exploring new ideas, and evolving as a band has lead to the creation of "Phantom Anthem" that proves to be the sum of all their previous work. It's a modern masterpiece !
Beauty In Tragedy 2.0
powerfull this voice metalcore
It's been over a decade since the masterpieces Thrill Seeker and Messengers were released, and even after over ten years and multiple amazing albums these guys are still. so. fucking. good. Nothing but admiration for this band!
I like how you first think this is the darkest, most sinister song on the album and at 0:46 It shines bright and hopeful without losing any of it’s temper. Amazing.
2:41 just blows my mind!!!
GREAT SONG ;)
OK this band is better than i thought
Is there an instrumental anywhere?
3:07 is going to intense in the pit, can’t wait til Jan 11th
quite ironic that this is a christian band and somehow, the carbon copy of this title and the earth-related lyrics just seem to me that they seem to come from someone not all to keen with the 6000 years old bullshit, in that sense that we are made out from carbon, we are carbon copies from the earth... anyway, quite good song and album actually and that's coming from someone who usually frowns the instant when someone alone mentions the term metalcore lol
Could it be... a song that's not in the key of C??? (Iss coo I love abr)
////////////////////////
Gives me goosebumbs this song its so amazing
"I'll leave the world as it was given to. Flowing full of life, filled with diversity"
This line touches deep into my heart and the guitar riff while Jake's screaming those lines just suits it so perfectly. Such a great band! Whether their lyrics are about their faith in Christ, loss of a loved one or life struggles, they give all their emotions into their songs. Music does not just require skills or having amazing talents in composing. It also requires writing it with all your heart. Which this band does perfectly!
Out of all the ABR songs, I think this one is the best one they've made. I never thought I could say that because they're all amazing. But this.
Great album once again! God,I love these guys:) Beautiful
ewdcghuo'j
cool very cool
I think it's a bit odd that I find the riff at 3:07 sounds like "Always With Me, Always With You" by Joe Satriani.
can you point out which part of Always with me that is in? I listened to it and couldnt find the similarity haha
Buena Patria sorry for the late reply. I think that riff kinda sounds like a sped up version of the intro of Joe Satriani's song. Or its just me haha. But I do think it has a similar vibe.
This and Coordinates are really the only great songs on this record. Not that the others are bad, but they're really just more of the same that's we've been hearing for years. I think this would have been better as an EP, because apart from this is and Coordinates, there are enough novel and interesting ideas for like 3-4 other songs.
Good lord, I've never clenched my butthole as tightly as I did while anticipating the fiilthiest, butt-chuggingest breakdown during the seconds following 3:35. My anus was wrong, but damn this song is butter!
August Burns Red are metalcore daddy’s, listen to every album. There is either a new element to there game they add. ABR is ABR. You can’t say this is up there with Counterparts or Silverstein lol. It’s like comparing Apples and Oranges
This album is just pure awesomness!! SICK guitars and probably the best drummer ever!!!!
Best anime song of the entire album ^^
Anyone find the double kick pattern around 2:00 to be so damn catchy?
Blessed2Shred totally...I love those breaks in the guitar and bass just to hear those cymbals crash
for all songs from this album, this is my best
i love this
Favorite song on the album for sure.
They are starting to sound like math rock and I looooooove it
1:03 This part sounds like some Polyphia kind of stuff. Nice :)
my dick is getting hard
I'M NOT WORTHY
The Second Step
This song ripped so hard until 0:46...what happened? Then Skrillex showed up at 3:36. This was just odd.
thevoiceoftruth55 Dude, what, those leads starting at 0:46 are fucking killer! This song shreds hard!
3:36 and especially the followup sound fucking great, what are you on about?
The love of Christ just flows through everything these guys do. Can we all just agree that they are so ahead of their fellow artists? Like wow standing ovation outstanding work
Pretty sure they're not all Christians though. But anyways.
mwboost
Jesus loves everyone though, so hes not wrong.
Not to get religious 😂
Im not a believer, but i do believe this is the greatest band on the planet.
the guitar leads in this are gorgeous
2:43 how?
The intro gives me a leveler vibe in a way. Just my opinion
MXR likes this.
i'm here to thumb up every single ABR album
this album is 200/10 and can't wait to see them in ft lauderdale on february 7th early bday gift!
Justin Maisel fuck yeah bro I'm going to the ft Lauderdale one too. Probably going to be my 5th time seeing them. Last time was amazing with them playing all of messengers
Cool hmu we can meet up and if you're going with other people we can go in a group
In my top 5 ABR songs for sure. I love the guitar melody at 1:21
This song raises my will to live.
Thanks guys
Lucas Medeiros me too
anyone who can explain the theme album picture, the flower in the head?
Jiuda 1 Matt explained it in an interview, saying the painted person on the album cover is everybody or anybody, n the flower painted inside is the beauty within that person. phantom being the physical being n anthem being the music n life inside. huge fan of this after learning what it all meant.
When you think that they can't outdo themselves anymore, they release this record. I believe now that nothing is impossible for great bands.
polyphia with vocalist
Yamashita Takedo I think you meant to say Erra
This song is awesome!
Beginning reminds me of Define The Great Line era Underøath, then it transforms into some Misery Signals vibes and naturally some Counterparts thrown in for good measure. Amazing that these guys continue to improve with each release. They’re titans of the genre just like the aforementioned bands. Incredible work.
That ending sounded a lot like Underoath Define The Great Line.
such emotional guitar riffs
Well done August Burns Red. well done.
I Always Love the way ABR throws in chill sounds like 3:36 to 4:27.
It's like a moment to reflect on the words of the song and find its meaning.
S FOUR then they bring it back with the crush dude such an epic aspect of their music.
Best on the album IMO
Forest Goddard oh hi there
should have stayed heavy like the beginning ;(
this shit ultra slaps. sounds like ABR still... but like progressed a hair? this entire song is composed on strictly strong riffs. all killer no filler.
the leads aren't the same leads we've been hearing. ERRA-like almost to a degree.
0:28 underoath where are you??
When the riff perfectly hit you right after the breakdown..! (0:46)
WOW! This the first album I have heard by abr and I LOVED IT! I like how every song sounds different and unique in its own way. Instrumentals were great, vocals and lyrics too. My favs deffinetly are "the frost" "Quake" and " Float" or just the whole album really ... YEAH! The whole album is my favorite. Really looking forward to hear to the rest of their albums
Ricky Smart Hell yeah! Definitely check out Rescue and Restore, it's a fucking modern metalcore classic :)
Lol those are exactly my top 3 songs off of this album. Have fun hearing all their other amazing material!
ABR for life
eh, not aggressive enough on this one. the first half of the album (and dangerous) were heavier and better (except frost, which I actually think is by far the worst and actually a legitimately bad song). 2nd half has its moments but is overall not aggressive enough with too many of these pop-punk-like melodic segments that are trying to also be heavy but fall short of that brutal sound. It's like they're trying to make the older fans and newer fans happy with this album, which I can understand. I really wanted more of that throwback to messengers and constellations which is there on the first half. Would have been nice to have another full album of brutality. Heavy songs on this album 10/10, the slightly softer ones 5-6/10 (listenable but don't hit that brutality level that makes you really FEEL the heaviness in your body...fans of really heavy metal will understand).
ABR isn’t a heavy band, they are melodic metalcore, which is exactly this song. Heavy for the sake of being heavy sucks
Nope. See Messengers and Constellations (and much of this album). They ARE are heavy band. The whole part about being a METAL band is that it's supposed to be heavy (as in, HEAVY metal).
I just pretend to be edgy? Yeah, I'm so into being edgy. OR, maybe not everything a band puts out is gold. Maybe they have some so-so or bad songs. Maybe it's okay to critique art. No but you're right, any critique makes you EDGY.
Yup. Worst on the album. Might be good for other bands, but for ABR standards it's pretty bad. And it's okay to dislike and critique art, btw. If you like EVERYTHING a band puts out just because it's from that band, then you're just a dumb fan just like a fan of a sports team who is really more into rooting for the team than he is about the quality of his team's playing. It's okay to think your team played like shit, and it's okay to think a band has a shitty song.
@shadowsmustfall1 shut the fuck up karen
One of the best songs on the album. Well done lads!
The first minute or so of this song sounds like tdwp!
That synth section hits really hard man.
that lead part starting at 0:46 tho....always made me smile
That part got me in the feels the riff last through the whole song!! lol
The album is just Phenomenal , this is one of my favourites after Generations ,
and that part right after the synths is just killer \m/
I think this may be the best August Burns Red song ever
It’s pretty legit
i agree. Personally im not fans of every screamin song because from first time until now i heard there is no big change for vocal. But beautiful guitar & music is different matter. I hope someone make instrumental version for this song
You're right and wrong at the same time :P Part of the beauty of music is that it's too subjective to be able to say if it's the best.
Mie Rematik
The yelling is what makes metal music so emotional and powerful. Sometimes in life, pain and anger, frustration and fear cant always be perceived through a calm voice. I understand though, i hated the screaming in metal at one point in my life, now this music is all i can listen to.
Mie Rematik
Listen to Meridian by August Burns Red. Not alot of screaming. Also Creative Captivity.
Goddamnit I'm fucking in love with this band
Ollie Burns Me too, ten years now!
My jaw dropped and i got chills when the song came roaring back in after that synth/quiet bridge. I can't describe how amazing this song is, which I believe is a contender for best in ABR history... mind=BLOWN
4:23 until the end of the song is one of the greatest things ive ever heard.
Major ERRA vibes, and I'm very ok with that.
can't wait to see them together again this winter!
Reese Tussey dude that lead guitar is sooooooooo tasty and amazing. I thought the same thing. It’s like ABR and ERRA had a baby
Intro gave me Define The Great Line era Underøath vibes and then hit me with some Misery Signals with a hint of Counterparts. I hear Erra in there as well too. Not bad company at all. Definitely my favorite off the new album.
Dude after I finished this song, that was what I was thinking too. Kind of like the artficials.
SAME WITH THE MISERY - ALSO BEING AS A OCEAN NEAR THE END
Just. So. Good. Geniuses. Genre of their own. I can't. Getting ABR tattooed on my face tomorrow.
Genre of their own. You hit the nail on the head there
Anyone have the bonus track "Laniakea"?
how the hell do you pick a setlist out of this album? they'll just have to play the whole thing...please..
The Chariot meets Intervals! This album is incredible!
Absolute favorite song in ABR's history. Like, my god. This is peak right here.
Peak in there 8th album which is mind blowing!!!
This album is what I wanted PWD to become..Knowing how to stick to true metalcore but still improving/mixing their sound up. Altas did it perfectly from deep blue and horizons but IRE makes me cringe w/ the exception of 2 songs
Aaron Steele no but it seems many of your are. How can you not like IRE? All their albums are good no doubt about that but IRE is more than a basic metalcore album and draws influence from a lot of different genres and it works.
At first I was disappointed in IRE, but there are some bangers "Bottom Feeder" "Crushed" "Dying to Belive" "Dedicated" and "Vicious." Obviously they can't keep making versions of KWAS, Horizons/DeepBlue/Atlas...I think they had to slow down a bit just for their drummer's sake, Ben Gordon was spinning in a drug cage on their last tour...they tried something new, can't fault them for doing what they felt like doing. I still think IRE is a heavy and great album even if it has a lot of "commercial" appeal. Anyone who was dissapointed by IRE should really just buy a ticket and see them live, they're unbelievably good, as is August Burns Red.
I'll never understand the 'they can't keep making the same music' argument. If the local pub I go to makes an awesome chicken parmy, I'm going to keep going back there for more. If they one day decided that they 'couldn't keep making versions of the same parmy' and went and made something different, I wouldn't go back there because I don't want whatever progressive crap it is they've made, I want the good stuff that made them famous and tastes awesome.
they just came out with a new song called wishing wells! check it out, goes so hard, thats the sound your looking for
ABR knocks it out of the park again. On my 5th listen-through of the album.
those are rookie numbers lol
Beautiful song! God bless you guys!!!
Awsome album!
After listening to a minute of each song, I can personally say this is like a Messengers/Rescue&Restore kinda album. They sat down and said messengers 2? Yes. But let's keep bringing creative elements to the table and BAM this album was the baby of it all
Craig Wooden agreed. exactly what I feel son. Messengers x Rescue & Restore
Craig Wooden Oh yes. Just yes.
Roger Rabbit Yessss I'm tearing up this song is so beautiful haha
