Dude this entire album is filled with songs like this. Soft cathartic vocals mixed with heavy and fast riffs. Great contrast. Seamlessly blended. This entire album is worth your attention.

HOLY SHIT. This is the only song of theirs I ever really liked thanks to 3:09 to the end. I just had did a whole song + dance to find this tune. A buddy put it on a CD in 2003. Initially, I was asking the only Atreyu fan I knew (by singing aloud to them) and that yielded, "Bleeding Mascara" which is an upsettingly ridiculous song title...but I started look at shit around 2003 and finally found this song...I'm at work right now.

i must be one of the few that liked every album. some more than others but still

deathgrip on yesterday was amazing man i don't know what your talking about. even lead sails was great. congregation took a few listens to live with... and still only really like 1or 2 songs off that.

its albums 1-3 that was their original sound, lead sails they started to change it up, thought it was pretty decent, but it was completely different sounding, but then congregation of the damned is where they blew it bad..

Dammit, I just looked up "feels like someone is standing on my chest" because that's exactly how I feel right now under the crushing weight of this loneliness... I found the lyrics to this song and was shocked at how much it described how I was feeling, word for word... I hadn't heard this band before, so I decided to look this video up. I can't express how disappointed I am that it's this genre. What a waste of good lyrics.

@nmk021 Agreed. They went more mainstream and granted got more fans and became more popular actually hitting billboards and the radio with their music but at the same time lost fans from Suicide Notes, The Curse because they lost what Atreyu used to be and sound like.. at least in my eyes.

Thats why the genres of Metalcore and Post-Hardcore are flooded with people who use the exact same style? Rasping is the easiest style of harsh vocals to execute and thats why there are so many bands that use it. Just like everyones voice is different and everyones singing is different, so is everyones scream. Just because someone sounds different doesnt mean they are using a different technique. Where did I say that he didnt sound unique? He does, all I said is his style isnt hard to duplicate.

Its not to hard, just a Rasp style of harsh vocals. Its one of the easier styles to learn and prefrom without messing up your voice. If you want an impressive scream listen to some early Behemoth material like their songs "Hidden in the Fog" or "Wolves Guard my Coffin"
