Atlanta Rhythm Section - Georgia Rhythm Lyrics
Livin' out of a suitcase
Sleepin' in hotel rooms
Rental cars and airport bars
And dog day afternoons
And music is my game
Sometimes it makes me crazy
But I would not change a thing
So lay down a back beat
Crank up your trusty Gibson
Let's give it everything we got just one more time
Lovin' the life we're livin'
Playin' that Georgia rhythm
Nothin' else ever made me feel so fine
Four o'clock in the morning
Waitin' for a plane
We passed around the bottle, Lord
And we don't feel no pain
Life out here on the highway
Has its ups and downs
But last night the Georgia rhythm
Tore up another town
So lay down a back beat
Crank up your trusty Gibson, it's alright
Let's give it everything we got just one more time
One more time
Lovin' the life we're livin'
Playin' that Georgia rhythm
Nothin' else ever made me feel this fine, yeah
Alright
Rising above the madness
Homeward bound again
And old familiar friends
Some conversation with my lady
Some love long overdue
God knows I hate to leave her
But I got a job to do
So lay down a back beat
Crank up your trusty Gibson, son
Let's give it everything we got just one more time
Lovin' the life we're livin'
Playin' that Georgia rhythm
Makin' music, movin' on down the line
One more time
Lay down a back beat
Crank up your trusty Gibson
Let's give it everything we got just one more time, one more time
Lovin' the life we're livin'
Playin' that Georgia rhythm
Nothin' else ever made me feel this fine
Give it everything we got just one more time

I LOVE ARS. I HAVE BEEN A FAN SINCE THE 70'S. I GREW UP NEAR DORAVILLE. I went to several Champagne Jam outdoor festivals in Atlanta in the 70's and they kicked everyone's ASS at those events!

True Southern Sons and killer musicians. When you hear them (even live) you can sense a tightness and degree of professionalism not common with a lot of Rock & Rollers. These cats were seasoned studio session men. Before Toto, it was the Atlanta Rhythm Section. They know just how much to put in to build the song, itself. Just listen to Paul Goddard walk that bass on the bridge. It builds the anticipation and locks into Nix's drum track. Also very unique was Ronnie Hammond's smooth vocals. No one else sounds quite like him. Although there were many great Southern bands, the four most characteristic and quintessential were The Allman Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Marshall Tucker Band, and The Atlanta Rhythm Section. Distinct vocals, a great rhythm section, and monster guitarists. The Southland's Best. C'mon and git ya some!!!!

RIP Ronnie Hammond
Great band. Eufaula ain't the same without em'.
Paul Goddards bass line on this song was absolutely superb !!...as on all the songs he played .....instantly identifiable as him !!...my favorite bassist ever !!
If you are a fan of The Atlanta Rhythm Section, you need to read their latest book by Willie C. Mosely,"The Atlanta Rhythm Section:The Authorized History".Some Pictures and stories you've never seen or heard.

When you have good material ya don't have to jump an run around to hold the audience's attention. I don't understand why these guys weren't as popular as Lynyrd Skynyrd. I never hear of ARS mentioned anymore. My first concert was ARS in Chattanooga 1979, I was 15.
Whoa...sweet. And Chattanooga is one of my favorite cities. Beautiful place.
I'd like to report a CRIME...its a crime this didnt make it big and I wait till 2019 TO EVER HEAR IT
thanks for reminding me
Brings back such good memories from my youth...
2019 who's still listening to the good music
Great song please check out Atlanta Rhythm Section - Rock and Roll Alternative Album Review on my channel
this is played to the album track but it's one of the great anthems in Souther Rock history none the less.
Smooth.........
This type of music back then was basically the epitome of Southern Rock . Nowadays you have Country bands trying to replicate this and they cant. It is so lame .Back then I was a total rocker and loved Southern Rock the best and didn't really care for any of the Country Music at that time but man I will take any of that Country Music from back then over this new auto tuned garbage nowadays. And it has really made me learn to appreciate that old Country and Country Rock like Gram Parsons who I never even new about until about 10 tears ago.
Greatest song of all time!
Barry Bailey, like Michael Allsup, was a very underrated guitar player.
saw them in 81 when they opened for Marshall Tucker....in Seattle.....as you might imagine, it was sparse crowd....they were absolutely awesome and rocked the 3500 people that were there.....when Marshall Tucker invited ARS to come jam with them halfway thru their set, well, the party started....Doug Gray came down off the stage and started singing in the middle of the floor while the boys just played.......and played and played. I have never heard the version of "Can't You See" they played that night again, but it's a memory and treasure that only 3500 fans heard. Long live Ronnie Hammond and ARS......Southern Rockin' Jazz at it's finest. I am forever a fan......
I love these guys! They could go from old school country to smooth 70s jazz in the flip of a coin.
I saw this band in St Loius, MO before they became popular - they were so very worn out and tired on stage -pale looking - but they played their hearts out - we had just wanted to go see some live music - so glad I got to see them play. As a musician myself I find myself revisiting the "good old stuff" - gonna again put this tune back on my setlist - it's soo sooothing! God bless ARS!
Love this band..I'm from Georgia and yes they are the best from Georgia..no doubt!!!
Best southern rock band
Nothing like Southern voices playing Southern Rock. I tell you the truth!!!!!!!! Love that band from Marthasville.
Ronnie looking kind of like Keanu Reeves in this video. Great song...with Paul tearing it up on bass.
One of my favorite bands.
.. YEP !~! Dang near blew out my speakers in my ol" Chevy van with these dudes !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ROCK ON BOYS !~!~!~!
God this brings back so many good memories
KQRS REFUSES to put this song on the radio, and I never could understand WHY.
So wish I could go back and see them again. I have always felt so good while listening. Life should be their soundtrack.
Ronnie's grandfather tuned my mother's piano... wow that was a long time ago....
I bet a lot of guys tuned your mother's piano.
Rich G Was he (grandfather),from Macon too?
In the 1990's I got a DUI in wonderful NAZI-esque Cobb County Ga. and had to take a court-ordered 24 hour DUI/Defensive driving class. The fellow that sat next to me was Mr. Ronnie Hammond. I knew who he was right after I heard his name. He was just a down to earth Ga. Boy and on our many smoke breaks we talked about drinkin', druggin' and Women- it was like I knew the fucker for years. Nice, funny guy. I didn't ask for an autograph, seemed silly to even ask. Next thing I heard about him was he was shot by a cop(he survived) Wtf? After that(several years later), I heard he died. I remember cranking ARS on my car stereo when I was a teenager constantly. RIP Ronnie.
What a fantastic band
It don't get any better than this. This is Great Music.
Paul Goddard. Very underated bassist. RIP Paul
THE LEAD SOLO, whether studio or live album of Another Man's Woman. Perhaps only Peter Hook with Dreams Never End approached it.
My favorite bassist....EVER !!
@Tony Sexton Great song please check out Atlanta Rhythm Section - A Rock and Roll Alternative Album Review on my channel
Rip Ronnie great talent great
Tragedy your song lives on.
A " Quote " that i found on a Search from Ronnie Hammond :
" Don't let your troubles make you cry -
Don't waste a moment wondering why -
Do it or Die"
Wow - he seems to have the same kind of talent i have ! ?
- A Visionary -
feel the same way
A Lesson Learned Every Day - - -
Even though i remembered him for only singing Sexy Songs -
This just shows us what a Truly - Down to Earth - Respectable - Fine -
Southern Gentleman that he really was .
Never judge someone by 1st Impressions .
Look - Listen - Think - Then Judge !
All time favourite band - so tight - so doubled up - yet so able to breathe.
Love ARS and this song and video in particular so thank you for posting. RIP Ronnie Hammond whose voice was PERFECT for what these guys were doing.
Pure gold, thanks so much for posting!
man i miss those days. Cranking ARS in my 70s Cuda cruising the country roads
You said it brother. Always loved ARS. Barry Bailey is so underrated.
Those gorgeous soulful eyes ...
right? big, brown pools...
ARS, one of the best ever. They never got the credit or airplay they should have received.
True...but who else can say Heart and Foreigner opened for them...the same night....LOLOLOL!!!!!
They got plenty of airplay in south Georgia.

Good ole Georgia Boys, Marshall Tucker was right up the road Interstate 85 in Spartanburg SC.
Special.....
A.R.S. we're definitely "A Rock 'n' Roll Alternative". along with the Allman's Bro's & a few other like-minded parties, they were quiet achievers that set THE benchmark. Long live their catalog.
It is called Southern Rock. Even the Canadian bands " Stampeders and Guess Who" played Southern Rock. Do not forget Lynard Skynyrd, Marshall Tucker, Allman Brothers, Doobie Brothers, Eagles and more. Enjoy!
You are so right on "THE benchmark" Meg. Makes me want to go and be born in the South! ;)
I have heard that we are weird down here in Florida, but we do enjoy life more than most people in the USA and the rest of the world. Enjoy life and take the best out of every experience. Always live life big, even if it is a hug or a simple kiss. Remember it is the respect that is important, not the size of the kiss. Never stop listening to the best music, you already know it! Take the new journeys when they present themselves, mix them with the old journeys and soar higher. That is how to enjoy life the most!
@A Real Rocketman First of all, Floridians are a unique (and necessary) composite of the South. Their contributions are without measure, and the rest of us are might proud to have them in the mix. You folks are kin and brethren!
Priceless 💖
I wonder if the guy in the white suit singing has ever discoed
No he never did. He was a Southern rocker.
ARS SRT TGE STANDARD FOR SOUTHERN ROCK. GREAT BAND
One of the best bands that come out of Ga.Real rock and roll !!!!
Absolutely..no doubt
Ain't no ' one of the best' they are the best band to come out of GA.
And, uh, out of Alabama...Dothan and Opp.
Saw ARS in 1978 at Atlanta's GT Grant Field's Champagne Jam, what a show: Atlanta Rhythm Section, Santana, The Doobie Brothers, Eddie Money and two fantastic local bands, Mose Jones & Mother's Finest.
Saw ARS in 80' here in Biloxi, MS when they opened up for Blue Oyster Cult. After the show, we ended up walking behind the Coliseum on our way to running the streets and as we walked by the tour bus, out walks Paul Goddard. He hung out and shot the breeze with us kids for a good 20 minutes or so. Really cool and laid back dude.
That was one hell of a concert I wish I could have been there awesome lineup The Allman Brothers Band Atlanta Rhythm Section the two best southern rock bands in my opinion hands down
Thought i was the only 1 who new about MF
I thought that was at G tech campus
@Russ Fortson I saw Mother's Finest in Gadsden, Alabama in 1980.
thank you for the post
was listening to this riding through Atlanta recently.....love the backbone....
One of my favorite songs. The louder you play it the better it sounds.
One of my favorite songs for sure. I'm from Georgia, went to the University of Georgia when they were a "thing," my granddaughter's name is Georgia and I played this for her on my guitar the day she came home from the hospital.
Glad it's not like Luke bryan
@Patty Balis ....CONGRATS...you win the prize for the most stupid asinine comment I've heard in awhile !!....How do you favor a no talent autotuned cheap knockoff of a musician like Luke Bryan....over one of the greatest southern rock bands ever ??....Jeez !!...
You are spot on, Joseph Baldassarre
. They were tighter than the skin on a hot watermelon. Make the South proud to call them sons.
tcwaha it’s so true. Used to blast this song driving down I-15 in the Nevada/California desert
Got to see ARS toward the end in 92 I BELIVE,,,, AWSOME
They had their own sound my one favorite southern bands....really like Ronnies vocals!
genious!!!
I could listen to this song until my ears fell off! Music, they don't make much of it any more! Good Music that is! ARS
Agreed 100% I saw them around 1980 when they opened up for Blue Oyster Cult. After the show, me and my buddies went behind the coliseum and out walks the bass player, Paul Goddard. He hung out and talked with us kids for a good 20 minutes. He was so laid back and gracious. He was the first "celebrity" I ever met.
I can't think of a band with a more distinguished sound than Atlanta Rhythm Section.
I totally agree.... just a class act.....!!
Awesome song! I love ARS.
one of the coolest songs ever ...
+Lee McNulty
yeah buddy
God bless Ronnie Hammond. God bless him, God bless him.
Damned ancient superstitions.
