Association, The - Six Man Band Lyrics
Well, I'm a day at a time
I'm a day at a time
Well, I'm a seeker and knower
In a six man mind
Yes, I'm a traveling man
Well, I'm a comer and a goer
In a six man band
Well, I'm a California man
My instrument in hand, I'm electrified
On a fast flying trip
Dirty laundry in my grip mostly drip-dry
We got the seventeen jewels that dictate the rules
We just got the time to say hello
And then a fast goodbye
I'm a traveling man
Yes, I'm a traveling man
Well, I'm a comer and a goer
In a six man band

what kind of guitar is that at the beginning
There’s some missing out of this like Requiem of the masses. Anything else? Thanks for uploading this it’s great! My apologies, I see some are blocked from playing for the usual rights. Too bad.
Acid rock!
This track suits for every heavy rock group's program.
Well, I'm a day at a time
I'm a day at a time
Well, I'm a seeker and knower
In a six man mind
'Cause I'm a traveling man
Yes, I'm a traveling man

In a six man band
Well, I'm a California man
My instrument in hand, I'm electrified
On a fast flying trip
Dirty laundry in my grip mostly drip-dry
We got the seventeen jewels that dictate the rules

But is the background lyric "line up" or "light 'em up?" -- or both?
@Andi Rosenthal To me it sounds like 3 syllables... light 'em up. But line up might be in there too, who knows?
So if you watch the video for the Ed Sullivan broadcast of 11/9/69 when they performed this (as Seven Man Band) you’ll see why I’m hearing both...for much of the video they are choreographed in line. What a great song this is.
@Andi Rosenthal Interesting! I'll have to check that out.
I've never heard this song before and I'm funkin' this funky Funk Hit!
¡Magnífica rola!!!!! I love it!

This is a pretty cool tune
A more loved and appreciated piece than people realize.
On this day in 1968 {August 31st} Dick Clark conducted a telephone interview with the Association's Terry Kirkman on his ABC-TV Saturday-afternoon program 'American Bandstand'...
At the time the Association's "Six Man Band", also penned by Terry Kirkman, was at #57 on Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart, two weeks later it would peak at #47 {for 1 week} and it spent 6 weeks on the Top 100...
Between 1966 and 1981 the California sextet had thirteen records on the Hot Top 100 chart; five made the Top 10 with two* reaching #1, "Cherish" for 3 weeks in 1966 and "Windy" for 4 weeks in 1967...
* They just missed having a third #1 record when their "Never My Love" peaked at #2 {for 2 weeks} in 1967; the two weeks it was at #2, the #1 record for both those weeks was "The Letter" by the Box Tops...

Too strange - I found a stack of old albums to offer to one of our group, and guess what the top album in the stack is - yup, it's this one. Now I'll just have to listen to the rest of it. Life's a bitch, ya know?
love that opening guitar riff
I saw them in 68-69. They were a great live band.
Esta vieja canción me trae viejos recuerdos de mi pasado como estudiante del Politécnico Prevocacional No. 4 , tur no vespertino . PRESENTE .
¿sería por Tlatelolco?
Never heard this one? Came out August '68
I am guessing that for some it is the first time hearing it and are appreciating this great song and band.
Who said the Association couldnt rock?
Not me!!!
LMAO, Oh so THAT'S Rock.
@RockChild56 You are truly a moronic slob who possesses no taste or appreciation for quality music!
Esto si es una verdadera armonía musical
De acuerdo

I listened to this over and over on my vinyl so much that it started to skip. Now I'm sad. But happy that this is here.
A Boffo way to end one of the best albums ever.
My girl and I saw them in concert, back in June of 1968, at the old Melodyland in Anaheim, California and they sang this song in their set. They were terrific that night, great memories of a great band from my youth............
