Association, The - Silent Song Through The Land Lyrics

I would wander rather aimless
Through the cities and the towns
What I was seeking is something nameless
An unseen vision, silent sound

When I find the mountain
Look out across the la-a-a-a-and

I heard the singin'
Like I never had heard the singin'
I saw the shinin'
Like I never have seen the shinin'
Silent song thru the land

So if you're lonely
And you only
Want for one to call your ow-ow-ow-own

Go out and find them
But don't confine them
Don't forget to be alone

Go up on the mountain
Look out (Look out, look out) across the la-a-a-and

You'll hear the singin'
Like you never have heard the singin'
You'll see the shinin'
Like you never have seen the shinin'
Silent song thru the la-a-a-and

Go up on the mountain-ai-ain
Look ou-out across the la-a-a-and
You'll hear the singin'
Like you never have heard the singin'
You'll see the shinin'
Like you never have seen the shinin'

You'll be the singin'
Like you never have been the singin'
You'll be the shinin'
Like you never have been the shinin'
(Oh, let it shine)

You'll be the singin'
Like you never have been the singin'
You'll be the shinin'
Like you never have been the shinin'
(Oh, let it shi-ine!)

You'll be the singin'
Like you never have been the singin'
You'll be the shinin'
Like you never have been the shinin'
(Oh, let it shine)

You'll be the singin'
Like you never have been the singin'

Wish I could get this album. Had it, lost it. Costs a ton of bucks anywhere I've seen it!!

Beautiful song and great group, not only very excellent vocalists but very good instrumentists. One of my favorite US pop rock groups with The Beach Boys,The Harpers Bizarre,The Lovin' Spoonful,The Free Design and The Millennium's Curt Boettcher. And yes, very underrated group. They were so good musicians.

I first heard this and cheered, "YES! New Jayhawks album!!!" Turns out Mark Olson was in grade school when this was recorded. It's beautiful and timeless, whereas I had been under the mistaken notion that the Association specialized only in the former.

The best vocal harmonies of any group since the 60's. Love this song. These guys were very underrated I wish I could find a recording of a song they performed live called, "Backseat of Heaven". Anybody?

    T.... ....

I heard "Backseat Of Heaven" on the old Tom Snyder show so many years ago and I have never forgotten how great the song is.Why it was never released as a single is beyond me!! I think someone uploaded it on you tube last year but it was taken down. Maybe if you get on the Association's facebook page and ask maybe someone will upload it.

Here you go! Its on the Facebook page of the recent biography of the Association called 'the Association Cherish': https://www.facebook.com/association.biography/videos/228096374452782/
And I agree, its one of the best songs the Association ever performed. If they had released it as a single, it would have been a big hit
