Association, The - Pandora's Golden Heebie Jeebies Lyrics

I have walked along the
Paths of dark and light
And I have seen the sunrise
And I've seen the night

I've seen the calm before
The storm and then the fight
And now I see the sparrows
As they begin to fly
And all that's left
For me to do is cry

I've had my view of happiness
And my view of despair
I've cleaned out all the cobwebs
And I've learned how to compare

I've seen all of the circles
And I've had my last affair
And now I see the sparrows
As they begin to fly
And all that's left
For me to do is cry

Thinking that I was lost
Then finding the end
To all beginnings
Gave to me the key
Made of lead and golden
Freeing locks, Pandora's boxes
Devils are expended
And I'm finally free

And when all the
Tears are finally cried
And I am finally clean inside
The gentle winds will come
And they will dry my mind

And I will see the sparrow
That need no longer fly
And all that will be left
For me to do is die

Association, The Pandora's Golden Heebie Jeebies Comments
  1. A.... R....

This song is so far ahead of its time, musically, instrumentally, spiritually. What a beauty.

  2. M.... L....

Liking this one. Love the group's harmonies...

  3. W.... J....

The first two Association albums on Valiant with Gary (Jules) Alexander the best by far. Imo not as good when Ramos replaced Alexander and they went to Warner, probably minority opinion but the truth. Love this song and that entire second (and first) album.

  4. E.... p....

    Bass line ♥ ♥ ♥

  5. L.... M....

Less well known than other hits of The Association, but as good as them.

  6. 5.... ....

Wonderful post!  Thanks!  This little known track is on The Association album that I received for Christmas in 1966.  I've always loved the song and don't believe I've heard it since then!

Barry De Vorzon....Valiant Records. See you tube interview last year.

  8. B.... O....

To Continue... It was about 1:45 a.m. Poorly remembered, indeed.. (Billboard #35....Christmas 1966!!!).

This bone chiller played FM radio alate one night in LA in 1984. When was the last time youre heard that???? Said DJ...

  10. M.... V....

Is the District Six's version of this anywhere?

  11. O.... ....

Not bad, but completely out of character as a follow-up to "Cherish."

  12. T.... A....

I can't find "Wasn't It A Bit Like Now" on youtube...Anyone have it to put up here???

    T.... A....

    On Association Live on U-tube.

On this day in 1966 {December 18th} "Pandora's Golden Heebie Jeebies" by the Association peaked at #35 {for 2 weeks} on Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; it had entered the chart on November 20th and spent 7 weeks on the Top 100...
Between 1966 and 1981 the sextet had thirteen Top 100 records; with four Top 10 hits, and two #1s {"Cherish" for 3 weeks in 1966 and "Windy" for 4 weeks in 1967}...

flutest terry kirkman and drummer ted bleuchel jr.from the original group are retired from show business?

  16. j.... ....

gary jules alexander left the group for a short time to practice meditation?he stayed with the group until the now late bass player brian cole[he died in 1972 from a overdose] could recuperate from a hand injury around the time hawaii native larry ramos would end up playing guitar in gary's place.by the time he came back, the group was still playing together but, most of the hits were past them?as of 2013,alexander & ramos with jim yester, del ramos, russ giguire, bruce pictor, and jordan cole tour.

  17. a.... ....

    Surely one of their best.

  18. P.... P....

1966 - ahead of its time. I haven't heard this since it was played on the pirate stations at the time of its release

  19. S.... ....

This was one group that you never knew what you were going to get musically.

  20. j.... ....

gary jules alexander may have not been on the cover of what we see to go with the song being he left the group for a year to meditate?he did stick around until the late bass player/singer brian cole was able to play since he had a firework accident at the time and guitarist/singer larry ramos could learn the songs what the group did?nowadays. jules,larry,guitarist/singer jim yester, son of brian cole jordan who plays guitar, keyboards, and back.vocals, singer russ gigure, del ramos& bruce pictor tour

  21. S.... ....

I wonder why he's not in this picture since it is an anthology?

KMCQ in Seattle regularly plays this. The best oldies station around.

  24. D.... B....

Thank you SO much for posting this! I couldn't find the album this song was on (I have every other Association LP) and was afraid I'd never hear this odd choice for a followup single to "Cherish" again.

  25. S.... W....

    LOVE this song!!!!!!

  26. s.... ....

Funny, but Jules Alexander, the one who wrote and sang lead to this, isn't even on the video cover here!

  27. B.... B....

    Jules with the crown

  28. B.... L....

    I love this song.

  29. b.... ....

A great slice of L.A. psychedelia! Thanks!

  30. J.... H....

Love this song! More psychedelic than Byrd's Eight Miles High... I love Heebie Jeebies's B-Side too, more pop romantic but still beautiful: Standing Still
