Association, The - Little Road And A Stone To Roll Lyrics

Little road and a stone to roll
Little road and a stone to roll
Little road and a stone to roll
Ev'ry body needs a stone to roll

Ev'ry body needs a fire inside
Ev'ry body needs a dream to ride
Ev'ry body with a growing soul
Ev'ry body needs a stone to roll

Little road and a stone to roll
Little road and a stone to roll
Little road and a stone to roll
Ev'ry body needs a stone to roll

Ev'ry body needs some old loose shoes
And we could all use a little good news
Ev'ry body with a sheet to fold
Ev'ry body needs a stone to roll

Ev'ry body needs a Carole King tune
Ev'ry body needs a little more room
'Cause ev'ry body digs their own deep hole
Ev'ry body needs a stone to roll

Little road and a stone to roll
Little road and a stone to roll
Little road and a stone to roll
Ev'ry body needs a stone to roll

Once again... everybody needs a stone to roll ! . ☮️.peace brothers . All your talent added so much to our lives !!

  2. C.... K....

Absolutely stunning vocal arrangement. If that's Brian singing, it's an awesome performance by probably the least recognized guy in the band.

    C.... K....

It is Brian. Most of the songs he sang lead on are obscure, but any hardcore Association fan knows Brian's distinctive voice!!

  3. M.... S....

    A song John Stewart wrote

    M.... S....

Most don't know Johnny Stew.......an American treasure to those who KNOW...

  4. M.... C....

Fantastic recording. Love the bass and vocal delivery.

  5. G.... ....

Great video. It always gets me @3:00 when the obituary shows up. VERY underrated bassist.

  6. M.... C....

What a great recording. Nice thick bass. Nice to hear Brian take a lead.

  7. B.... B....

    Heart tugger

  8. E.... V....

Every body needs a Carole King tune.

  9. N.... P....

Did Brian sing anymore songs besides this one

    N.... P....

"I Am Up for Europe" and "That's Racin'"

  10. B.... G....

Peace Brian from Brian 🎸 but think . at this very second someone was thinking of you.

  11. f.... 6....

Heroin overdose in 1972 damn shame. It (heroin)is still a scourge. Just heard about his man on the anniversary of his death. Sad.

  12. W.... W....

Brian  was a fun  guy in the band and I will miss him along with Larry.. RIP my friends,   a fan...

    W.... W....

I know Brian hasn't been with us for a long time, unfortunately, but does anyone know what the cause of death was? Was it cancer, suicide-I forget?

    W.... W....

@M Mireaux It was a heroin overdose.

    W.... W....

You can only play with fire for so long. It really sucks. Brian. Thanks for making our days a little brighter with your great talent.

  13. M.... G....

Great video. Thank you for posting. Thanks to the great photographer. Heartbreaking. Wish we had Brian with us. He would have done great and amazing things.

  14. R.... W....

    Stupid junkie.

    R.... W....

@tantraman10 I am very sorry for your loss. I don't know you but you are right about stupidity having nothing to do with it. It's our job to help those who have succumbed to addiction of any kind. May your son's rest in peace, sir. My deepest condolences.

    R.... W....

    @Locktwiste72 Thank you so much.

    R.... W....

@Locktwiste72 I guess you dont agree with meaning of disease.a disorder of structure or function in a human, animal, or plant, especially one that produces specific signs or symptoms or that affects a specific location and is not simply a direct result of physical injury.

    R.... W....

Ask Terry Kirkman if its a disease? My son is an addict his Dr said its a disease as well.

    R.... W....

Intelligent. How old are you 10 or 11 ?

  15. J.... W....

Have you considered uploading the songs from this album that are NOT on YouTube ... sadly only a few of them can be found here.

  16. q.... ....

Live and recorded - still my favorite bass player of all time!!! Period. As long as i am alive, Brian will live in me. The same for Chris Squire, my #2 of all time.

    q.... ....

Hate to burst bubbles, but Brian was not playing on any of the hits or most of the album work. Joe Osborne and Wolfgang Melz were the primary bass players in the studio for Association recordings.

  17. m.... ....

what a waste,i presume its his son at the end.

  18. J.... M....

It's now September 2017, and you are still missed. I hope wherever you are, you realize this, and you're still rolling your stone. ❤

  19. J.... M....

    Still miss you, Brian.

  20. D.... ....

Thank you for the music Brian Cole and Larry Ramos singer <3

  21. L.... P....

Just noticed 3 of my photos were used in this video!
Brian was a neighborhood friend from back when I was a kid in Portland.

  22. L.... M....

He probably looked as the most serious and formal in the group, along with the drummer, in my opinion. I didn't know he had died that young. A pitty.

  23. s.... ....

What a handsome man. Love you Brian Cole.

  24. a.... ....

Have only discovered this guy's talents recently. Seems quite underrated as bass player certainly: listening to "Along Comes Mary" through good speakers will easily prove it.

  25. B.... ....

    Heroin kills.

  26. L.... R....

He was always my favorite in the group. Last saw him at L.A.'s Troubadour!
PS Ted Bleuchel, sorry we TP'd your otters

  27. j.... ....

A great song written by John Stewart who also wrote "Daydream Believer" and "Gold."

  28. P.... D....

Terrific song and great vocals. Thank you so much for posting this. RIP Brian!

  29. n.... ....

Does this song have the longest fade out ever?

  30. K.... ....

I don't know why this made me cry. Brian cole lived and died beofre I was even birn, but this makes me sad ;( RIP Brian Cole

  31. L.... C....

Just read about this song. What a underrated singer/talent. RI.p

  32. u.... ....

This song is a great example of how The Association could take a fairly simple song and, with their vocal and instrumental talents, make it into something really beautiful.

  33. u.... ....

You are SO right about Brian holding the group together on-stage. Brian was a terrific on-stage performer. His personality "crossed over the footlights" and reached the audience, even though he was usually not in the front row or center stage. I saw The Association twice, in 1967 and again in 1969, and both times, in after-concert discussions, my friends raved on about how great, memorable, and generally cool "the bass player" was. Thanks for this great video.

  34. r.... ....

What a great voice...I can never hear this song too much...

  35. j.... ....

@bigmouseworks Is this your father singing this song?

  36. j.... ....

Little Road and a Stone to Roll is this Brian Cole singing?

  37. t.... ....

@bigmouseworks your Dad was a brilliant bass player/writer! Time proves this so. peace

  38. t.... ....

@bigmouseworks your Dad was a brilliant bass player and writer. Your Pops lives on forever in that magic music they made. peace

  39. b.... ....

brian was so greatly underated as a bassist and vocalist. he was the glue in many ways that held the association together. hard to believe it has been over 38 years since he left this life.

  40. K.... S....

What a great version of this John Stewart song and Brian really captures the sentiment of this tune perfectly. I had Waterbeds in Trinidad as an LP (long gone but not forgotted) so I'm just ordering the CD--this song being the prime reason. I just saw the Association in Londonderry, NH last Saturday night and they rocked...especially Jordan.

  41. a.... ....

Pure pleasure-especially the tribute to one of the lesser known and underappreciated Association tunes. Thanks for remembering and posting!

  42. S.... B....

Great! ! ! This is fantastic! Thanks for posting it. Where can I find out which members of the Association sing which songs? And more details about the recordings?

  43. R.... ....

An absolutely tragic loss. So cool that his son Jordan could be in the band years later...

  44. s.... ....

All these years I always thought that was Terry Kirkman singing lead on this song. Nice to see Brian had his moments. I love the vocal arrangement at the very end of this song ("daaa- daaa dat-dada"). Unbelievable harmonies.

  45. B.... ....

    well done

  46. s.... ....

Brian Cole under-rated? Absolutely! Hardcore Association fans know of his wit, charm, enthusiasm and creativity. He continues to have an effect on those of us who listen to the Association. Meeting Jordan is a testament that the humor, sense of fun, and musicality was handed on. Having just worked with Terry Kirkman - I have faith Brian's impact will never be forgotten as newer and younger fans discover the music of the Association. Thanks - a wonderful tribute. dbs

  47. 6.... ....

This is thoughtful and heartfelt and just great! Thank you!
