Association, The - Broccoli Lyrics

Broccoli--I really dig it steamed
Broccoli--just plain, with cheese or creamed
I like to eat it with my mouth
It tastes so good
I like to eat it with my mouth
It's my favorite food

Broccoli--it grows right from the ground
Broccoli--I even dig the sound
A favorite Atlantean dish
They thought it was the end
A favorite Atlantean dish
I'm a-turnin' you on my friend
I'm a-turnin' you on my friend

Broccoli--I really dig it, really dig it steamed, yeah
Broccoli--just plain, with cheese, plain with cheese or creamed

I like to eat it
I like to eat it

Association, The Broccoli Comments
  1. G.... P....

One of the great :put on" songs if the psychedelic 6s. The Beach boys Pet Sounds, The Beatles Rubber Soul albums.started the movement in this direction and they intended to top it...with Broccoli. LOL !

  2. m.... ....

I wonder if they heard the Beach Boys were working on a song called "Vegetables"?

    m.... ....

mysticmaverick1 more than likely, and that’s Hal Blaine on drums, the Wrecking Crew studio group, also worked with Brian Wilson and The Beach Boys.

  3. B.... T....

    I love this song.

  4. P.... B....

    Psychedelic

  5. M.... ....

Why? Why is this a song? LOL!

    M.... ....

"I like to eat it with my mouth". As opposed to other body parts? LOL. I loooove the Association, but seriously, what made them come up with THIS as an album track? ROFL.

    M.... ....

Man, do you not know a tongue-in-cheek moment when it happens. I bought this when it first came out and when this song started playing I ROFLMFAO! From time to time I start singing it around people and smiles pop out everywhere and laughter erupts and everyone wants to know: "What brought that on?" When I tell them about the song they look stunned and ask things like: "The group that did Everything That Touches You and Along Comes Mary put that on an album? What a hoot!" Yeah, I like to eat it with my mouth, too!

  6. B.... F....

    Bizarre.

  7. L.... D....

Silly. Obviously near the end of their creative prime, as their next two albums proved. There are some good songs on this album, but they reached their peak with Insight Out & Birthday.

  8. M.... ....

Nice song written and sung by Russ! I'm a longtime vocalist and I love to sing this - especially to children - adults also!!!

    M.... ....

When I sing it to children they LOVE it, and "the grups" get a laugh out of it, too.

  9. F.... P....

My love and I were sitting under the chestnut tree, talking of nothing, while I worked up the courage required to "pop the question." Yet we continued to chatter about trivialities: people we knew and their mundane adventures. It took most of the afternoon for me to raise myself to the pitch of determination required to speak of what had been uppermost on my mind since the day we had met. What did it was this classic song by the Association. As the final notes died away, I knew the moment was upon me.

It would be then or never.

"Amarantha Eloise, my sweet," I finally stuttered out, "do you prefer cheese sauce or just butter?"

    F.... P....

    Priceless, man!
