Association, The - All Is Mine Lyrics

Never can you have more from life than what you give
Never can you know more of truth than what you live
But what I have and live today is shared by few
For never could I have more from life than loving you

All is mine if you are mine

What may come and just where I'll be I'm not to know
What's conceived may just die today or live and grow
But what I know and live today is shared by few
For what more, please, could I ask of life than loving you

All is mine if you are mine

My hunger is fulfilled
My restlessness is still
The bird has flown, his world, he's seen
Now makes his home...home in the evergreens

But what I know and live today is shared by few
What more, please, could I ask of life than loving you

All is mine if you are mine
You are mine

An entirely minority (though not solo) opinion: this is my favorite of their seven studio albums. All their influences come flowing through and, for my money, their playing their own instruments here is a plus. Jerry Yester's production touches, with a stripped down, garage-band sound, is also a plus. Terry brings his Four Freshman/Stan Kenton chops and aspirations to the fore here, cutting loose both on "All Is Mine" and "Angeline," much as he does on Stop Your Motor's "Bring Yourself Home" and "Silver Morning." Throw in Jules's "Pandora's Golden Heebie-Jeebies" and Jim's "No Fair at All," and it's a wonder this album did not have a larger following. I'm guessing the throwback big band feel of this and "Angeline" may have scared the heebie-jeebies out of those looking for another "Along Comes Mary" (still my favorite of all their hits). There's really not a misstep on the entire album.
