@Yesgalaxy's Mid-Atlantic Music Journal Avatar is rip off of old unknown game Albion, its like exact copy look it up.

@prolamer7 they ripped him off too lol. the game came out in 95 Rodger Dean's artwork has been around since the 60s I don't need to look up anything.

"Words", and "Turn It Around" are the best cuts, from this record.
Payne himself has a new song out - called "Strange Days" ... It's good .. IMO.

John Payne is a very good musician; I'd say pretty close to Wetton, and he took a lot of undeserved s*&!t
And yes, his albums (Especially 'Silent Nation') are so f-ing dark, dark, DAAARK. So what? It's great music, period.

+greg77389 Asia started with a bunch of master (mostly British) musicians who needed an outlet for their more simple musical ideas; this is the result. Geoff is the only founding member still here; Asia was never nearly as good as the sum of its talents but it is played with a perfectionist touch and is the odd child of some of the greatest musicians in rock ever.

I consider myself among the higher ranks of Asia fans, owning just about everything they've put out since that wonderful debut in '82. After Wetton left the band, it took me a very long to get into the Asia incarnation with John Payne. But as time moved on, I became a believer in this man's voice.. Arena is a great album, but their best Payne-era album  by far is Aura

To all those who say "This is not Asia" or something like this: Take ALL Asia albums and start to listen to them carefully from the first album to the last! You will find out that there is a MUSICAL PROGRESS in each album - like it is in the human nature that there is progress through time - and if every album would sound the same no one would listen to it anymore after a while! And Geoff Downes always said that the "new Asia" was supposed to sound a bit more different from the "Classic Asia" but in my opionion it still has the typical characteristics from the legendary "ASIA-Sound".

Exactly. I bought my first Asia record in 1987 and have not stopped listening since. My impression was that John W was the mostly lyricist while Geoff was the mostly music man - the chord progressions, the arrangements, the melodic genius is 100% Geoff's in both incarnations. Listen to Aqua, it is the REAL sequel to Astra (the Now & Then stuff was good but left me wanting).

Some people never accepted Payne just like some never accepted Hagar or Steve Hogarth. You'll never please the original fans of anything, like the 20-somethings who hated Jar Jar but loved the Ewoks when they were 12. The irony seems lost on them! ; )

This phase of Asia has a lot of good songs...at least Asia didn't do what Journey did and try to replace its lead singer with a phony soundalike. Arena is a good concept album just like Planet P Project's PInk World or Operation Mindcrime by Queensryche.

For me one of the best of Asia formation with Payne, loved this album, even if I liked the first band too. At the end the song goes to a little melodic reggae fantasy, well done!
