Asgeir - Head In The Snow Lyrics

Far up in the north
The nights can be so dark
Biting cold takes its toll on the body
Grýla casts her spell
In the depths of the mind
Damaging happiness and the joy of life

Hope and faith, don't you fail me now
Hope and faith, come and warm my heart
Hope and faith, fill me up with strength
Hope and faith, shine down with bright light
Hope and faith, give me back my joy
Hope and faith in the dark of night

People waste their time with triviality
Leaving what's important for someone else
My advice to you: Hide your head in the snow
Try forgetting everything
The things you should know

What weirdos disliked this song. This is the most beautiful and amazing song I've ever listened to. I adore it. Why so few subscribers to Asgeir also. I guess good taste in music is rare. I wish I understood Icelandic, I imagine the original version is even more poetic and amazing than the English version. But wow. I really need to see him in concert.

Does it need to have a genre?

They're probably trying to find other artists like him hence wanting to know the genre

0:47 who casts her spell?  I can't quite catch it.  Perhaps it's not in English?

@Simon H Grýla is a trollwoman in Icelandic folklore, she is first mentioned in Snorra-Edda. Edda is one of the few sources we have on viking mythology and culture. In the last 300 years she became the mother of the Icelandic Santa brothers. They used to be bad trolls that stole and ate children but it has been a lot more family friendly over the years. Now they give presents and are nice, but their mother isn't nice, she eats bad children around Christmas time.

Great!  Thanks for the info @Ásgeir   Love the song and will appreciate it even more now.

+Ásgeir I love this! Viking mythology at its best! Great set in the pouring rain on Monday night too in Amsterdam BOS. Shame it wasn't a sunny day but it didn't detract from your mesmerizing music and beautiful songs..

+Ásgeir Hafdis Huld spoke about this in her online christmas show last year. I remember some of the names of the brothers. Door Way Sniffer, sausage snatcher & window peeker. Love history & folklore.

Excellent breath of fresh air, though I didn't expect to dig this music .Its like mechanical whales and then a dreamworld inside another dreamworld. His vocal is amazing. I mean, YOU'RE vocal. I suppose this is the real Asgeir!?

I prefer the first album. Yeah, I know, it 's the same music. But not the same language. And I'm disapointed to see that an artist like Àsgeir must do that for become famous in the rest of the world... Because it's an incredible singer and when he sings in his native language, I just travel. And with the English version, less.

    M.... G....

I just travel too. Amazing music. So far I definetly agree that the Icelandic versions is most beautiful and magic but I don't hold anything against him for doing them again in english

    M.... G....

When somebody is making music, it's normal if he/she wants to be recognized by it. The music's still beautiful. And If he hadn't done an english version I probably wouldn't have met him, so I'm glad he did (:

    M.... G....

as a speaker of both languages (Im half), I have to say I prefer the first verse in english, but the rest is a Lot better in Icelandic.

But I think its awesome when people do things bilingually, its such a nice thing to do for foreign fans who may speak a little english but no icelandic whatsoever.

Icelandic poetry is beautiful, im impressed with the translations

this might be my favorite song on the album! amazing!

I think the best is Torrent XD
