My first true love also committed suicide in 1979 when I was 20 years old. It wasn't until 16 years later that I met someone and married a year later. I now have 8 grand kids and 1 great grandchild. My wife is the love of my life! We have raised 3 of our grandkids to adulthood and are still raising up 3 more, adopting the youngest 2. After all of this though I sometimes late at night catch myself thinking back on what MIGHT of BEEN... I heard that "your first love" stays with you for ever. I am here to confirm that it does. Aubrey was her name..... 🌹🌹🌹

Marco van de Weert Even though the song was written long before Laurie’s death I think he always thought of her when he performed it. He was sad & heartbroken for a very long time after her death. I’ve always been curious about the details of the suicide.

Art Garfunkel had a girlfriend who committed suicide. Listen to the words and you will see his reaction @ 1:29. He turns his head to the side for a moment and you can see in his eyes the painful memory coming back. This song was from the heart... I too lost a love one to suicide when I was 20 many years ago. After 42 years it still haunts me.
