Art Garfunkel - (What A) Wonderful World Lyrics

What a wonderful, wonderful world this would be
What a wonderful, wonderful, wonderful, wonderful world

Don't know much about history
Don't know much biology
Don't know much about a science book
Don't know much about the French I took
(But I do know)
But I do know that I love you
And I know that if you love me, too
What a wonderful, wonderful world this would be

Don't know much about geography
Don't know much trigonometry
Don't know much about algebra
I don't know what a slide rule is for
(But I do know)
But I do know "one and one is two"
And if this one could be with you
(A wonderful world)

What a wonderful, wonderful world this would be
What a wonderful, wonderful, wonderful world

Now I don't claim to be an 'A' student,
But I'm tryin' to be
I think that maybe by bein' an 'A'-student, baby-baby
I could win your love for me

Don't know much about the Middle Ages
Looked at the pictures then I turned the pages
Don't know nothin' 'bout no "Rise and fall"
Don't know nothin' 'bout nothin' at all
(But I do know)
Girl it's you that I've been thinkin' of
And if I could only win your love (oh girl)
What a wonderful, (what a) wonderful world this would be
What a wonderful, wonderful world this would be

What a wonderful, wonderful, wonderful, wonderful world
What a wonderful, wonderful, wonderful, wonderful world

  2. p.... n....

A fantastic song, whoever sings it. This version, rarely heard, is excellent---nonetheless, with the greatest respect, the Sam Cooke version is the definitive one.

  3. S.... g....

    Amooo❤❤❤❤👏👏

  4. E.... O....

Hearing Paul sing on this just made me grin like an idiot :D

  5. S.... R....

    Art Garfunkel
    "What A Wonderful World"
    1978.

  6. S.... B....

Great rendition of a song that was also done by Sam Cooke & Herman's Hermits.

  7. J.... T....

    James is carrying the song.

  8. G.... T....

    What a wonderful Art.

  9. H.... S....

    Thank God for James Taylor

  10. S.... M....

Where the hell did that third verse come from???

    S.... M....

I don't know, but I love it XD

  11. J.... O....

    Beautiful voice combination.

  12. P.... I....

No one is gonna comment that Paul Simon added an extra verse ("... the Middle Ages... " ) to the Sam Cooke classic?

    P.... I....

After I saw your comment...I went back to listen carefully. Pretty sure it's Arte on that one...@2:09.

    P.... I....

On Wiki it says this verse isn't credited to Simon, though it sounds like his words. I don't know! Someone should confirm this.

  13. A.... F....

    ❤️🎵❤️🎵❤️

  14. D.... W....

I always thought it was Art, on the falsetto part.

  15. c.... ....

    Don't know much...

  16. S.... A....

Art had quite a set of balls to take on the Sam Cooke classic. but that high sweet pure tone pulled it off

  17. k.... ....

I always thought this was a James Taylor recording. I didn't know it was 3 voices or that it included Art Garfunkel (much less that it's credited to him), but now that I listen, I can spot which parts are Paul Simon's voice. Anyway, I love it. It gives me chills. One of the instances where a remake was more effective than the original version.

  18. J.... K....

Sounds like both Paul Simon and James Taylor on this gem.

  19. F.... M....

Probably the best covers of all time, was lucky to have this released when I was a kid 👍

  20. T.... G....

    Beautiful song

  21. J.... R....

  23. E.... S....

  24. c.... p....

had never heard the whole song until right now. what a beaut.

  25. S.... B....

Great version of this Sam Cooke classic!

  26. k.... ....

at 2:05, Art's voice reminds me a lot of Johnny Rivers, I originally thought it was him

  27. R.... R....

We bought this on 8 track when it came out... awesome album!.

  28. D.... ....

this is my favorite version of "What A Wonderful World"

    D.... ....

@Natan Maes Also sung by one of my two favorite singers born on November 5, Peter Noone of Herman's Hermits.

    D.... ....

Mine too! And when the original is by Sam Cooke, that’s saying a lot!

    D.... ....

@Gustinart Great version of the Sam Cooke classic by three great artist

    D.... ....

    Mine also😁

    D.... ....

    @Natan Maes yes

  29. D.... C....

    Beautiful

  30. S.... C....

    WHAT A WONDERFUL WORLD...

  31. M.... G....

For those wondering, the musicians are lead vocalist-acoustic guitarist Paul Simon; lead vocalists Art Garfunkel and James Taylor; backing vocalists Jay Clayton, Fred Farrell, Carol Flamm, Ed Hasselbrink, Shelley Hirsch, Alexandra Stavrou, and The Voice Group; choir performers The Oklahoma Baptist University Chorale directed by James D. Woodward with assistance from Richard Greenberg; electric guitarist Hugh McCracken; bassist Tony Levin; drummers Steve Gadd and Rick Shlosser; cymbal player Craig Krampf; handclapper Thomas La Tondre; percussionist Ralph MacDonald; and electric pianist Richard Tee.

    M.... G....

Michael Glickman where ever did you get that info? I am sure it isn't correct.

    M.... G....

I get all my info from discogs.com.

    M.... G....

Yup - you can hear Richard Tee's sound instantly!

    M.... G....

These may have been people who played on the album, but they are not all on this track.

    M.... G....

Not buying it. Dont hear a choir and the vocals were Garfunkel, Simon and Taylor. You dont hear anyone else.

  32. J.... H....

The 70s movie "Promises in the Dark" (also on YouTube) introduced me to this version of this song.

  33. F.... B....

Why doesn't James Taylor get a credit on this? He's there after all!

  34. V.... D....

    Bravissimo Grazie

  35. E.... N....

I know as much about the use of a slide rule as I do of love, sigh.

  36. M.... R....

Art and James sound so good. I can't even hear Simon.

    M.... R....

@Maggie Reeves Maybe you should see a doctor...

    M.... R....

+Maggie Reeves Paul Simon sings the falsetto (the pitch that is higher than his voice limit) when the line "What a wonderful, wonderful, wonderful world this could be". He also sings the line "I don't claim to be an A student, but I'm tryin to be."

    M.... R....

Maggie Reeves If James Taylor was not concerned with a credit, why should you be? For me this represented a wonderful lack of excessive ego on his part!

    M.... R....

Wen Hang Pui Thank you for being a decent person who can communicate without gouging someones eye out. I didn't know Simon was on this recording.

  37. 3.... ....

    Timeless, chilled, love it.

  38. R.... J....

A reasonable slowed down version of a Sam Cooke song. Reminds me of Jackson Browne's version of The Hollie's 'Stay'.

    R.... J....

    Good call!

    R.... J....

"Stay" was by Maurice Williams and the Zodiacs. I've never heard that the Hollies covered it.

  39. N.... c....

    Maravilhoso!

  40. o.... ....

    Cuesta tan poco ser feliz

  41. J.... D....

Practically the definition of mellow; such awesome harmony!  Like the choice of photo too.

  42. J.... C....

    Absolutely beautiful.

  43. d.... b....

I don't much music...but I do know.... that this is awesome!

    d.... b....

    John Dunbar, I was looking

  44. E.... W....

wow. I did not know that.

  45. C.... B....

I always think of Herman's Hermits when I hear this...

  46. D.... C....
