Armatrading, Joan - Flight Of The Wild Geese Lyrics
Sad are the eyes
Yet no tears
The flight of the wild geese
Brings a new hope
Old friends
And those newly found
What chance to make it last
When there's danger all around
And reason just ups and disappears
Time is running out
So much to be done
Tell me what more
What more
There were promises made
Plans firmly laid
Now madness prevails
Lies fill the air
What more
What more
What more can we do
What chance to make it last
What more
What more can we do

I would like to see an updated remake
This is the only song i like by Joan Armatrading, to the film The Wild Geese. Its an alright film as well. I hav`nt heard anything else Joan Armatrading has recorded or done.
I saw this movie when I was a teenager, and I watched it last week again in my 55 years old. I love this movie, and the history around it, like the participation of Mike Hoare as a consultant.
There are 2 movies I watch [again] every few years: The Wild Geese and the Fourth Protocol.
Last time I watched this movie, I realized how much I like this song. Thank you for uploading and editing.
My go to song when I'm in need of some inspiration.
Happy 100th birthday to Mad Mike Hoare of 5 Commando, which this movie was based on! 🇮🇪💚☘️⚔️💯17 March 2019.
Wow! Didn't know she did the theme and over 40 years since I saw this in the theatre.
Out of all actors Hardy Kruger impressed me and so was Richard Harris along with this great song of Joan.
Totally fabulous song, written and sung by Joan Armatrading.
Amazing film - one of the very best action films of all time featuring many Stars. So sad to know that as at today's date (19.10.18), only 6 of the cast members are still alive!
Those still living:
Hardy Kruger - age 90 - b. 12.04.28.
John Kani - age 75 - b. 30.08.43.
Ian Yule - age 85 - b. 1933.
Rosalind Lloyd - age 65 - b. 25.03.53.
David Ladd - age 71 - b. 05.02.47.
Suzy Hunt - age 69 - b. 1949.
Those no longer with us:
Richard Burton (05.08.84).
Roger Moore (23.05.17).
Richard Harris (25.10.02).
Frank Finlay (30.01.16).
Stewart Granger (16.08.93).
Jack Watson (04.07.99).
Ronald Fraser (13.03.97).
Kenneth Griffith (25.06.06).
Winston Ntshona (02.08.18).
Barry Foster (11.02.02).
Patrick Allen (28.07.06).
Percy Herbert (06.12.92).
Jeff Corey (16.08.02).
Brook Williams (29.04.05).
Jane Hylton (28.02.79).
All the wild geese have gone, but they will never be forgotten
A few survived the treachery of this damn filthy Matheson, this son of a b...h. At the end of the movie, he got what he deserved!
Thanks for putting the collage together. I played keyboards with Joan Armatrading from 1977-79 and did this recording with her at I think Ocean Way in Los Angeles in 1978. Can't remember all the players on it but I played the piano and Oberheim synthesizer. Always liked the movie and especially liked working with Joan - very creative and inspired me to write songs with a little different slant due to her writing.
Amazingly strong singing, and a great movie!

I don't have time to discuss my finer qualities with you now!
the first film I ever saw at the cinema c. 1978 in Australia :) still one of my faves
James Bond would have wiped them all.
Jack Ridge 😂😂😂😂😂🤣😂
I'm here because of hideo kojima
Oh damn that Richard Burton is soooo hot, my Lord!!!!! I see why Liz had to marry him twice....
this is the only film i never get tired of watching, brilliant
class film class song
Also, I must have watched the film 20 times or more and every time I think Rafer is going to get on that fucking plane.
They would have kicked the shit out of 'The Expendables' Great film, great song one of the best themes ever!!
They could take on ISIS and win!
They simply don't make movies, and music like that any more! Back at late 1970s this one, was a major hit here in Greece! R.I.P Euan Lloyd (the producer of this master piece)......
Quit War
Fantastic song....great movie
ɷɷɷɷ I Haveee Watchedd Thisss Movieeee Leakedddd Versionnn Here : - https://t.co/RlKbv1hghK

Really Amazing movie and Wonderful story
Million thanks! thought of this movie, since then; you are right 'John Bonoan'--- British Baddass!!!… All Star casts and Soundtrack-- whole 'nine yards'.How can Brits go wrong in this one??? The credit goes to "bigbambed". Thanks! Thanks! Thanks!
This is such a beautiful song from my favourite film ever. Love it so much
listening to this while playing Farcry 2 is absolutely insane!
Very Nice Movie !
My Favorite Part was when Limbarney reached the Racist South Afican , Winning Him over too the Idea of a Nation of Equality
Yes, well said, he was played by Hardy Kruger, a quite noteworthy actor.
One of the saddest endings.
The book was even darker, nobody survived.
If you read the book again some of them do but not the same as in the film.
I call these this british badass..bloody awsome..
Great stuff!
"EMILE! EMILE!"
"Shaun I killed Rafer. I had to, the Simbas would have cut him to pieces"
"Let's talk about your father"
You forgot "kill me Alan!! Kill me!"
In the book it's Shaun who has a romance with a local girl in Africa but I like the movie better.
Excellent film. I always make a point to watch it around Christmastime.
One of my favorite songs from my childhood. The final scene of the film and then the end titles - very poignant. I think Maurice Binder did the opening credits and he did all the classic James Bond film credits.
We must be about the same age. Never saw it as a child for obvious reasons. But my sister has a cassette tape of film soundtracks and on the case is the poster of this movie. I kept running this song and I like it so much. Later on I did see the movie and love it.
is it possible you can advance me twenty pounds . i have this lady barber who charges by the inch sir
Jeff Dahmer, Tim McVeigh, Eric Harris, Dylan Klebold, Richard Ramirez, James Eagan Holmes, Adam Lanza, Ariel Castro, the Mafia and countless others are/were Africans? Had no idea.
The mercenaries started the savagery by cyanide-gassing to death an entire garrison of African troops. Ergo, a just plot would have had the Africans eviscerating the mercenaries including Faulkner at the end. How about that for a visceral reaction?
Spoilers tho, I know its an old movie, and you would have to have watched it to be here but you kinda ruined the end for anyone who has not seen it.. LOVE this song and Movie. thanks for the video. Perhaps put a spoiler alert on it tho, just in case
Look at you big Bastards! What a shame we cant be friends, huh?
Hahaha!
This is an incredibley evocative theme which creates a strange chemistry with the film's content. TWG is an exceptionally charismatic and thought provoking piece with memorable characters that never fails to lose the attention of the viewer; regretablely somewhat overlooked and underated, despite it's casting.
To it's credit it doesn't try to portray mercenary work as anything glamourous or heroic but only as the nihilistic, negative bloodbath that combat is, a true portait of human tragedy.
True, few films like this are made. Too much junk. This and all the characters in it, the story, the filming, what a wonderful movie!
beautiful song-anyone who have mp3 of this song? please please
One of my favourite films of all time. Watched it so many times. I wish somehow Faulkner had killed Rushton as well.
Whitty!
How come I'm the only person who sees similarities between her and Tracey Chapman?
Adam,at first I thought the song did suck, but I have heard it so many times and it kinda grew on me,and now it really doesnt suck afterall, thats my opinion anyways,it is kind of an emotional song,Plus the reason I started viewing these"Wild Geese" clips lately,is because My cousin I grew up with,And usually watched all military Movies,Merc movies together,Passed away 6 Yrs from 2 days ago,RIP Ali! He Was Military,Sorry If I Wrote Too Much Adam,Good Luck In the New Yr!
Very nicely done! I enjoyed the film and love this song! Thanks for uploading and sharing.
Worst part I always hate to see Is Richard Harris as he said"Buying It" and its a shame he Bought It,,
Was a great movie with a great cast! They dont make movies like that anymore, Hey I kinda got the impression that It was sort of a Nelson Mandela type situation? It had no far fetched stunts like they have in movies nowadays, Matter of fact,I dont think there was any scene that required stunts,This cast and crew did it all by themselves,
Great film and I had the pleasure of interviewing Sir Roger Moore about it, but this song is HORRENDOUS!
great song from a brilliant film
My father, brother and I have had seen the movie many times back in 1983 ..this is one of the spectacular action film!! Richard Harris and Roger Moore are our all time favorite FAN!!
One of my favourite songs, as soon as i saw the film and heard this i liked it.
Woah! Ex infantry? Make way everybody!
Hahahaha! You're just an idiot who likes shitty music and thinks you're important. How's that feel?
It's a terrible song, lady. Sorry.
After watching the film yesterday on Freeview (C5) and after a google search I somehow ended up here. What a strange and beautiful song charged with emotion, loss and longing. I am ashamed to admit I had forgotten how wonderful Joan's song writing and vocal abilities are and am grateful to have been reminded. Wonderful.
Me too, I was at the midnight matinee for the film at Warner Bros. 7 Arts in Borrodaille (or Greendale, the memory goes) in Salisbury, Rhodesia. Afterwards met some 'Wild Geese' who were also there. Mike Hoare (technical adviser) couldn't make it that night.
your dead only when I tell you your dead
they should make a W Geese 3, Russel Crow borrowed some of the Geese in proof of life, think if everyone in the world lived with urgency like the people in this story
such a meaningful movie....both the song and movie portray Africa's continuing struggles
Amazing movie, way to go Roger Moore and Richard Harris,
You're totally and utterly wrong.
This song is HORRIBLE. TERRIBLE! LOL! Possibly the worst collections of sounds you can put in a war movie.
I'm guessing that a fair amount of drinking was done during the shooting of this film.
What a cast, sheer magic.
I tried Sir, Im dead !!! Hahaha fricken love this film, my dad brought me up on classics like this and bridge too far etc, being an ex para dont think I had much choice.
Outstanding production!
Brilliant song and also an excellent film !
Spoilers!!!
Brilliant work, love the film and the song, thanks dude
Such an excelent piece of music and very well made film that films dont match upto these days. The cast are great together with some fine acting.I play the dvd to death.
NO!!! Burton I thought was very good, remember he died not long after this, he was supposed to do wild geese 2.
Burton i thought made this film a bit special, with kruger and Harris but really the whole cast was super
Fine actors all apart from Roger lol
I do like to find it after more than 30 years, it's a pity that the film wasn't edited in my country, i'd like to see it again, in the cinema, like i was young beside my father
Sad are the eyes yet no tears ....... Jesus Joan yes there are tears each time I listen to this.
i really like this film and the song
Excellent made video, very well edited
Having lived and fought in Africa during this periodthis song has very special meaning to me.
