Armatrading, Joan - All A Woman Needs Lyrics

Brings her flowers every day
And he phones her every night
Because she's his fancy
She's bound to love him too
And he's proved his feelings
He gives her all she needs
This boy can't understand

Though he holds her in his arms
He won't whisper words of love
He thinks it's all right
Love can come later

But woman
Love is all she needs
He will never get his way
With ease
He has to woo her properly
Or he'll never win her heart

Man likes to own
A woman shares
Man has his needs
A woman cares

Never means to make her cry
Oh he want this girl so bad
The boy can't understand
He thinks it's all right
Love can come later

But woman
Love is all she needs
He will never get his way
With ease
He has to woo her properly
Or he'll never win her heart

Wow, I never realized Pino Palladino played with Joan in the 80s. I knew she always seemed to attract great musicians, but he's the best bass player of the last 30 years. I assume that's him on his track (listen to Everytime You Go Away from the same period, then report back). So why oh why does the camera never seem to find him?

pino palladino's fretless artistry is displayed so beautifully on this track  the whole cd is full of great basslines.

@Mick Meyers Indeed, this is surprisingly another fretless monster, Mick Karn (RIP),  playing Pino's lines.

+Mick Meyers I think the player on this live is Jeremy Meek. Of course the original bass line is played by the great Pino.

No kidding I've read where pino played on the recordings .is this a live player?

Yes. Joan Armatrading toured until the "What's inside" tour with Jeremy Meek on bass. I've seen her in "Villa Arconati", near Milan. Awesome concert. In studio Joan worked with all the great bassmen: Pino Palladino on "Shouting stage", Mick Karn on "Hearts and flowers" and "Square the circle", and Tony Levin on "What's inside".

    Great concert!

She's just fantastic, were lucky to have somebody as superb- I just run out of words trying miserably to express just what she means to the whole human race- she makes us FEEL the emotions of life. A bit like Shakespeare, only more concise.
