This song is jamming. I know disco gets a bad rep and it probably didn't excite Aretha much to sing but she's in great voice here.

🤔 l can see/hear why disco was not good for Aretha. Never heard of these songs from this album. Until now, when l Googled it.

song begins at 1:14 lol. Her wannabe Donna Summer slow ballad buildup thang...didnt work lol. As I said once the beat kicks in it's not a bad song but all about the production . Vocals and lyrics um..wow WHY Aretha lolAmazed w/ her voice and status she didn't get ANY of those 70s female r&b smashes/anthems.

Aretha Franklin was an employee. If her record company wanted her to do a disco record she had to do a disco record.

Yikes. I love 'Retha, RIP, but this... An unfortunate necessity to yield to the then-suffocating hegemony of disco (which would only last for a few months still, frustratingly, in retrospect).
Also, as a francophone, I cringed my nose off during that French monologue. #NotHappening
Still a tolerable track though.
