Not putting younger people down or being "when u grow older" lol but honestly at 35 im finally accepting band changes, like converge ect, i accept and listern, i honestly belive that with age you become more open.... I remember my younger days where i would have cursed achitects now and said "there new stuff is shit, this was the real achitects" but not now, i dont mind some of there new stuff

It's funny how your music taste matures along with you. I love Architects since forever but I know if I was younger and they were releasing these powerful political songs like they do now I would've been like wtf and switched on Bring Me The Horizon instead. I completely get where you're coming from haha.

Like I used to think this was a second band named Architects, that's how different they are now.

Nahh, they are currently at their peak, they have found their sound, and it's a pretty unique sound tbh.

They will never release anything as good as Hollow Crown again sadly, they were really going places and porgressing quite nicely until they decided too stop innovating entirely.

This was the architects I knew and loved. New stuff is ok but after devils island and heartburn they should've disbanded.

there are three types of architects' fans:
1. Old School Architects: he listens to their firsts albums: Nightmares, Ruin and Hollow Crown.
2. New School Architects: he listens to their lastest albums: The Here And Now, Daybreaker and Lost Forever//Lost Together
3. Old and New Schools Architects: he listens all of their albums


Update November 10th 2018: when I wrote this there were still 6 albums so I could put three on the Old School and three on the New School, but since All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us came out by May 2016 and Holy Hell very recently (exactly yesterday), the balance of "Three Old Three New" has been broken. I took the liberty of making a new clasification of the fans:


1. Old School Architects fan: listens to their firsts albums (Nightmares, Ruin and Hollow Crown).
2. "Middle Child" fan: listens to The Here And Now and Daybreaker.
3. The New Trilogy Architects fan: listens to their lastest albums (Lost Forever//Lost Together, All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us, Holy Hell)
4. Full Architects fan: listens all of their albums

@Elgin Coates sorry for replying to a dead comment, but could you suggest some bands that sound like their ruin album? Not hating on their newer stuff, I just think ruin is awesome

Purifier Ruin came out in 2007 so I’ll go back into old music and see if I can pick out a couple of bands with a similar sound and get back to you. I can’t promise anything though. I think I was thinking of some particular ones when I originally post the comment but I can’t remember now since it’s been a little while lol

It makes me sad that this band is never going to release anything like this again... they sold out after hollow crown in my opinion, hollow crown was ok but after that they went downhill. RIP mathcore architects 

LFLT is miles better than anything theyve done before in literally every way. I love their albums hollow crown and on. anything before is just meh imo. they found their sound.

1. Hollow Crown (best: Every Last Breath) = The Best
2. Ruin (best: Buried At Sea) = The Fucking Masters
3. Nightmares (best: This Confession Means Nothing) = Exclellent
4. Lost Forever//Lost Together (best: Colony Collapse) = Not bad
5. Daybreaker (best: Devil's Island) = Bad
6. The Here And Now (best: Delete.Rewind) = A Fucking Shit

+Smrtnik I think Lost Forever is much more reminiscent of their older stuff and I like it more than their previous records. Ruin will always be my favorite tho

Very true! Every album has brought something new. Just like BMTH. But Hollow Crown is by far my fav album.

I love all of Architects stuff but i did prefer them like this. But tbh if they were just making album after album of the same sort of shit then they wouldn't be my favorite band.

Idk. whenever i think of Architects, i would think of bands like botch, the dillinger escape plan, and protest the hero. but thats just me. :-/

i prefer hollow crown & daybreaker. the here & now wasn't too great, there were a few good songs like day in day out, but other than that is sucked. before hollow crown it was kind of lacking in melody i thought. but daybreaker & hollow crown had that perfect balance of tech & melody.

Ruin's my favorite too. And same, I really liked their technical stuff. I think if they did do any other album similar to Ruin (They never will unfortunately. They don't like their first two albums they wrote) it might be original. If they emulate the own sound I'm sure it would be great. I do like some of the material on Daybreaker. Some stuff I'm not very keen on. Same with The Here And Now. It was too much of a change with that album in my opinion.

Ruin is my favourite album too. my second favourite album by these guys is their latest, and they're the only 2 alums i really listen to by them. Ruin is deffinately the most solid, and i miss Architect's more technical stuf. however, i think if they pulled out an album like "Ruin" now, it wont be as original in comparison to the rest of the music industry right now, i think their latest album is deffinately taking them in the right direction

2:57-4:14 I love these emotive melodic parts like this that Architects's have dotted around on this album. For me Ruin is their best. It takes quite a lot of musical knowledge and practical skill to pull of an album like Ruin.

I like old Psyopus but WFAHM and especially the first As The Sun Sets album fucking fuck yeah.

Fucking lol, the only good band you named was Underoath. The scene here is dead. In the late 90's early 2000's so many great bands came out like Botch, Converge, ETID, BTBAM, and Coalesce, it's not like it used to be. I don't know if ill ever hear another band of that same sound, all we have is the bands that are still left.

You have to look past the vocals to the lyrics behind them, they use this kind of vocal to portray things that you just couldn't get the same effect by just singing them normally. and they don't just do this, if you dont like the screams listen to heartburn or an open letter to myself, architects don't just do screaming they do something for everyone and are incredibly talented at portraying the emotion in their songs both through the screams and melodic singing :)

All scene kids need to see in order to say a band sold out is to see people who look different wearing the band's shirt, and all the sudden the band is a sellout! Amazing isn't it? Whatever though, even though critique is invaluable to bands, asshole scene-trolls are everywhere and they do only damage to the music industry, and would throw their favorite bands under the bus as soon as they aren't new and trendy anymore. Stay cool man, love your bands! They need it, like we need them.

They can say it's how the music has changed, or they can say the bands have sold out, in either case they'd be wrong! Neither band is any less impressive than when they started.

I just wish, if only for both amazing bands, that these kids were capable of loving anything but their selves for more than 10 minutes...

@DogmamgoD Well, I don't like BMTH, cause I just don't like their music. In my eyes, their music sounds awful and their style is way different from the architects style. architects are just more talented in nearly every musical way, best example-> sams wide vocal-spectrum!
