Arcade Fire - Neighborhood #3 (Power Out) Lyrics
I woke up with the power out
Not really something to shout about
Ice has covered up my parents hands
Don't have any dreams, don't have any plans
I went out to find some light
Kids are swingin' from the power lines
Nobody's home, so nobody minds
I woke up on the darkest night
Neighbors all were shoutin' that they found the light
"We found the light!"
Shadows jumpin' all over my walls
Some of them big, some of them small
I went out to pick a fight with anyone
Light a candle for the kids
Jesus Christ don't keep it hid!
Ooh! Ooh! Ooh!
Ice has covered up my parents hands
Don't have any dreams, don't have any plans
Growin' up in some strange storm
Nobody's cold, nobody's warm
I went out into the night
I went out to find some light
Kids are dyin' out in the snow,
Look at them go, look at them go!
Ooh! Ooh! Ooh!
Ooh! Ooh! Ooh!
And the power's out
In the heart of man
Take it from your heart
Put it in your hand
What's the plan? What's the plan?
Is it a dream? Is it a lie?
I think I'll let you decide
Just light a candle for the kids
Jesus Christ don't keep it hid!
'Cause nothing's hid
From us kids
You ain't foolin' nobody
With the lights out!
Ooh! Ooh! Ooh!
And the power's out
In the heart of man
Take it from your heart
Put it in your hand
And there's something wrong
In the heart of man
Take it from your heart
Put it in your hand
Where'd you go?!

The only song of theirs I like.

Tan rápido XV años de esta joya.. 2019...
Such a beautiful never gets old
Amazing riff
I've always liked the song, but . . . are the shitheel kids cutting off the power during an ice storm supposed to be the °heroes° of the video?
George P. Burdell I don’t think so
I don’t think there’s any “heroes” at all
Okay, so no heroes.
Still don't get it.
This album is born song by Pretty song and I like it that way it's seriously turning me off to "concept" albums
When my mother was pregnant with me, she listened to the Arcade Fire. She made my father hear their songs, and he said that if he made them listen to me I would hate her. They broke up when i was 6. In elementary school I was crying because I was bullied, and when she saw me she made me listen to this album. Now I'm in eighth grade, and thank you, because now I love Arcade Fire.
Perfect Song In Every Sense😍
Dude you got it figured!
My favorite💕
Last band to EARN a grammy
Skateboaridng after highschool in 2011 and being introduced to this band after lakai fully flared

Love these guys! This was the first Arcade Fire song I ever heard... I remember seeing this video (I think, on MTV?), and instantly liked it so much, I immediately looked them up online, saw they were coming to play in NYC soon, and bought tickets to their show in Central Park. Toward the end that show, David Bowie came out and played a couple songs with them. Amazing group.
Nostalgia brought me here , 2018
Please upload this in HQ!
1:18 Am I the only one who thinks the fat, rich guy looks like the mayor from The Nightmare Before Christmas?
sdfkjgh I thought the same.
He does ~
4:10 Perfect.
They only did one good album, but that one album was fantastic.
So you don’t like any of their other 4 records?
Can someone send me a link or something for the neighborhood 1 because it's blocked in my country. Please
Incrível! Melhor banda sem mais!!!
This is so good.
This is literally the only good Arcade Fire song

nostalgia
Still in love with this song
Abaigeal Fire me too XD
How on earth did they come out with this little gem amongst a stream of mediocrity including what appears to be everything else they have ever done????
I've spent the last 3 hours listening to everything Arcade Fire and it's all quite boring trash. This is great.
Someone slipped something in their weed this one day that unlocked their creativity?
We Don’t Deserve Love?
I love this song. The video is awesome!
Pour Célia ET Léo Frissson
love the cinematography-akin to spy vs. spy-
I always imagine Neighborhood #3 as me and my friends in bikes riding in the middle of the city in Christmas. It's night and there's no danger or someone around.
David Jung that sounds amazing
My dad showed me this music video and song when I was about 5. I still listen to it
update im still here
I heard this song when I was 16 or 17
look at me being a dumbass ten year old
@anna boer you're not <3
Dad knew what was up
cannot find a hight quality LOUD version of this song anywhere..help please
theseonesgotoeleven Spotify, Apple Music, or Napster (yes it’s back)... then turn the volume up
It's like modest mouse and the pixies had a baby
I also was thinking about modest mouse when i heard Laika. Both great artists!
except for the fact that imagine dragons came way after Arcade Fire...
I feel it's like somebody took oldskool Radiohead and made them better .. I don't know how that's possible, but AF does the impossible .. also I'm blow away by this video ...
Chris Barnes super old comment but this track definitely has Modest Mouse influences in it. The guitar riff is really similar to Interstate 8’s
Mike Eroyan YESSSS but then again its also kinda like modest mouse and the shins had a baby
MAN I hate this animation. But I LOVE this song
I could never love a band more than I love arcade fire.
Talking Heads are my all time favorite band. Have been listening to them all my life. I just "discovered" Arcade Fire about two years ago and I am IN LOVE. I can't listen to them enough! As a 56 year old who spent a lot of time in my 20's in the L.A. music scene, it's rare that I find music that excites and speaks to me. Haven't felt like this about any band since Talking Heads. I hope to see them in concert some day!
Rebecca GS
Hi both
I like Talking Heads too - they were great 👍
Was visiting Canada in 2017 and saw Arcade Fire at the Rogers Centre in Edmonton
Truly awesome and hope they swing around to your part of America soon
...still one of my favorite songs to snowboard to...
This has to be one of my fav AF songs... can't stop my feet from tapping. Possibly also gonna develop RSI in my kneck cause it just won't stop bopping....
I love this song
Listening this in 2016!
Why does it matter when you listen to this song? Why does everyone keep stating what year they listened to this song to in first? Aren't -eras- way more important?
I met you with this video... I really really love you! ♥ Actually, my homework will be about your music-video "we exist". Thank you!
I love this song.
Pixies style... :D
+Benito Muñiz Alonso Yes it is
Hearing this on a system or at least a good set of headphones .... powerful sound
Svaka čast momci ko god ovo svira!
muy buena canthion amigoth
Amazing!!! Funeral best album!
it look like a game
Someone like you would think that...
so powerful
amazing song bonus, great video!
incase anyone never knew this about this song yet, it's about the Montreal ice storm that happened back in 97 or 98 I believe it was, when the power was out for like weeks due to that storm
and it affected most the Quebec province too
Thanks for your input. I always wondered what it was about.
it was out for more than a month in some area
and it was 98
Where are arcade fire from?
electric fire
Hahaha ¡SUERTE!
plathtico tu culo
I have this song burned on a cd, and it's the only one i really know by them. I saw them last night perform on the Late Show with Jimmy Fallon and was amazed at how many band members they have. I didn't really understand what they were saying, but it sounded kinda cool.
Somehow... the first time I heard this song, just a couple of days of funeral being launched, the initial guitar chords rang a bell...
I thought... Cool... another New Order song!
I guess I never expected to be on the verge of discovering a all new taste for me...
Arcade Fire...
I bought the album instantly (there are things that its really a "crime" not to own)...
I bought Neon Bible on a prerelease... then the Suburbs... and now Reflektor...
They never ceasse to amaze me, how they bend their own limitations to create a all new sonority everytime...
It's probably the only band I've ever been ablle to compare to Talking Heads in those therms... every time new.
I do hope that some day I'll be saying about Arcade Fire as I say about TH... that I do own their complete work!
+Ricardo Castel-Branco I agree, this has always reminded me of New Order, the beat and the guitars, but I think these are a lot better.
Try Vampire Weekend if you like Talking Heads
Do you own Everything Now? It came out two years ago
Why can't I stop listening to this song???
Oh, wait - because it's amazing.
Well, that was easy.
:D
Very Modest Mouse Lonesome Crowded West sounding
I'm gonna go ahead and be a butt hurt Arcade Fire fan towards the man that said "It's weak...overrated"
WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU SMOKING?
I'm done. Sorry.
+haileypotatogirl Smoking something would only make this Music more enjoyable in all honesty...
that's only for dank weed, weak weed and cocaine do do the same...
Une de mes chansons préférées :-)
am i the only one who plays this song when the power goes out?
what do you play it thu
I liked most was the drumming
This song makes me want to act silly and dance
Fuck Planters.
I wanna have a band like Arcade Fire ♥
Overrated...r u sure ?
You liked "Madonna - This Used To Be My Playground"...THAT's overrated and commercial...but it's your tastes.
reading the comments makes me laff. cept none of its funny.
in love with this band.
This is my favorite one of their songs :D
My power went out last night for 4 hours .. unrelated as to why I'm listening to this song
Seeing this on MuchMusic because you're a hipster.
Still their best song! :D
The characters in this video slightly remind of me slender man.
I know, I lived it ;)
yup, this was about a power outage from an ice storm that lasted a week in Montreal.
Love this song
I watched a snowboard video to this song. It was just awesome. Thank you arcade fire!
What is that animation!?
"When the power's out in the hearts of man / Take it from your heart and put it in your hand" those two lines are mint
Québec, 1998.
Will never forget the last 90 seconds of the song. Pure bliss.
I used to listen to this song ALL the time. :3 Awesome!
Intro reminds me of Noel Gallagher A.K.A What A Life
Excellent response bednet. Couldn't agree more.
Fuck Vevo.
But Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five are sexy. But hip-hop is still alive and strong today if you ever cared to listen to Immortal Technique or Nas, they each have great messages to be portrayed. Someone who truly appreciates music for what it is can find the great artists within their least favorite genres. Even country has some great songs, if you ever cared to listen to The Thunder Rolls by Garth Brooks, you would realize each genre has its gems. Don't shelter your mind, homie.
its called "selling out"
This is the music of my childhood. There was a huge snowstorm once, school was cancelled, the power was out. I played outside all day screaming this song, even when my snow fort collapsed.
EAPK12 really? what a cool thing you just lived
Are you trying to say hip hop isnt good? If so, you look at music through a very thin lense.
Yeah, Vevo has tentacles everywhere.
Yeah, as they should get just as much if not more recognition as popular artists.
I actually like that Arcade Fire has VEVO for one reason, with Google Chromes adblocker I can find all the music videos and not deal with pesky advertisements.
Yes I agree that music is subjective and i respect your opinion. I only describe "Power Out" and "In The Back Seat" beautiful ( and "The Suburbs" maybe??) ,not all of their songs. And since you think that they did not deserve their award then can you tell me what band/artist should have been on the indie/art/alt rock field?
