Arcade Fire - Deep Blue Lyrics
Here
In my place and time
And here in my own skin
I can finally begin
Let the century pass me by
Tomorrow means nothing
I was only a child then
Feeling barely alive when
I heard a song from the speaker of a passing car
And prayed to a dying star
The memory's fading
I can almost remember singing
La la, la la la la la
La la, la la, la la la la
We watched the end of the century
Compressed on a tiny screen
A dead star collapsing and we could see
That something was ending
Are you through pretending
We saw the signs in the suburbs?
You could never predict it
That it could see through you
Kasparov - Deep Blue 1996
Your mind's playing tricks now
Show is over so take a bow
We're living in the shadows of...
La la, la la la la la
La la, la la, la la la la
La la, la la, la la la la
La la, la la, la la la la
La la, la la, la la la la
La la, la la, la la la la
Hey
Put the cellphone down for a while
In the night there is something wild
Can you hear it breathing?
And hey
Put the laptop down for a while
In the night there is something wild
I feel it, it's leaving me
La la, la la, la la la la
La la, la la, la la la la
La la, la la, la la la la
La la, la la, la la la la

2019 is about to end and everyone's saying that boyhood was the best film of 2014, but I'm just gonna go ahead and say that it was the best film of the entire DECADE

You should listen to Modern Man by the same band, and yes that movie is indeed awesome.

AMAZING!!!
''I finally figured it out. It's like when they realized it was gonna be too expensive to actually build cyborgs and robots. I mean, the costs of that were impossible. They decided to just let humans turn themselves into robots. That's what's going on right now. I mean, why not? They're billions of us just laying around, not really doing anything. We don't cost anything. We're even pretty good at self-maintenance and reproducing constantly. And as it turns out, we're already biologically programmed for our little cyborg upgrades. I read this thing the other day about how When you hear that ding on your inbox, you get like a dopamine rush in your brain. It's like we're being chemically rewarded for allowing ourselves to be brainwashed. How evil is that? We're fucked.''
That's what this song all about.
the soundtrack our lives... rock n roll yeah
INDIE ROCK AWESOME
For guys who watched Boyhood, don’t you realized the movie open with Yellow (Coldplay song) with Mason lie down in the ground gazing the blue sky. And the ending scene, Mason and Nicole and his roommate watching the sunset and finally the scene close with this song, Deep Blue.
I think it’s really fantastic how they put those songs in both opening and ending. Life between Yellow and Blue. Must be a deeper interpretation behind it.
This album reminds me of the old Dylan albums...topical lyrics and amazing melodies
I find so much positive energy in this song it makes me want to better myself and help others overcome hardships, depression etc..
This song is about technology addiction... I remember back in the early 2010s when people would try to tell you to put down your technology. Today, they don’t even do it because they already lost that battle
Edit: and no, I’m not here because of a movie
The best band in the world brought me here...
fuckkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
You don't want the bumpers, life doesn't give you bumpers
Arcade Fire captures the essence of the time
Just saw boyhood and the only thing that I liked was the soundtrack. Boring ass movie
Love ittttttt
that bit from the 00:24 to 00:34 is just amazing.
~. 😏
Can you hear it breathing? It is being silenced, but its trillion hearts still beat strongly in the darkness of the night. Eight years since this song has dropped, and the voices still haven't been killed.
Ya llego el d... Espera Khe
2nd favourite movie👀❤
BOYHOOD!!
A sad nostalgia tinged with impending doom.
First time i heard this song i was in class with my headphones, I just can't helped but cry as if there was no one around.

Best song ever

I've loved arcade fire for the longest time and never heard of "boyhood" till I looked thru the comments. Always love when people discover music thru movies, random pandora, etc. suburbs is my favorite album, but funeral still holds a special place in my heart. Also just look up random studio covers they do. Born on a train cover is nothing short of amazing (original artist Magnetic fields)
cindjan this is definitely one of my fav Arcade Fire songs, I discovered arcade fire through a skate video called Fully Flared. It was the 1st part and it was Mike Mo Capaldi’s part and I was amazed! The skating and the music and the visuals, What a beautiful part and video all together, If you’re into skateboarding or not, search Fully Flared full movie!
I can always tell the difference between Arcade Fire, and all the shitty videos they mix in with them. The shitty ones are shit.
like if you're here for arcade fire and not boyhood
Am I the only one who is obsessed with both twenty one pilots and arcade fire?
Illegal Mozzarella i was once like u then the tøp fans ruined their music for me but arcade fire is great

Una de mis canciones favoritas de the suburbs. Pero, kasparov no perdió ante Deep Blue??
I think Arcade Fire is a band whose fans are only those who have good taste in music. In a time where most people listen to crap, that's why they don't have the most fans, cause most people don't have good taste in music. That's so subjective but its kind of the truth.
Sooo good. If you like this song check out "the Runaway" by Regret the Hour!
Thanks! Like it. Check out my playlists if you want.
Yes, I love post-Suburbs Arcade Fire, yes, I didn't like the song at first, second and third.
There was Boyhood on the TV, didn't really watch it and heard something Arcade Fire-ish, thought it's some song from pre-Suburbs. Really? No. Just liking the instruments and keyboard.
waking life is also good
The album's lyrical content is inspired by band members Win and William Butler's upbringing in The Woodlands, Texas, a suburb of Houston. The album was recorded in Win Butler and Régine Chassagne's residence in Montreal, with some parts being recorded at the band's studio in Quebec and in New York City. Win Butler describes the overall sound of The Suburbs as "a mix of DEPECHE MODE and NEIL YOUNG",stating that he wanted the album to sound like "the bands that I heard when I was very young, and wondered what those crazy noises were"... ( Cheers Dimos K.)
Soo beautiful. If you like this song check out "The Runaway" by Regret the Hour!!

Corpitorz if I were to guess, his comment was actually a parody on those kind of comments
Best song on the album, by far
it may sound strange but I think that this song deals with the progress of technology.
Gosto de coelhos.

We really enjoyed your video. You must make many more
I cat stop listening to this song
+Anser Ahmedi meow too
+Robert Kolarczyk lol can't*
i saw boyhood yesterday, i am very near to my gaduation and im nervous, this movie has changed the way i stare into the future and the way i perceive life. it is so deep.
+Ra Eye the social rebel effect. When many people share the same experience that it has a negative effect of wanting to experience the same. You might want to still watch the movie thought. It's really good, and it might help your perceptive in life. just imagined you found the movie by yourself and not by others.
this is the best song of the whole fucking album damn it

Any dipshit with a camera can shoot a movie. It takes real talent however to make an unforgettable life-changing movie such as Boyhood. This isn't a movie. This is art.
Shourya Y Ellar Coltrane was perfect, an amazing film, you never knew that development and growing up is so incredibly beautiful and moving
Boyhood changed my fucking life... after watching it, I literally started doing better in school, putting down my phone, and picking up my camera.
Why doing better in school?
it taught me not to focus on the less important things
the moment when the mom has the breakdown over "thinking there'd be more" was one of most moving scenes. and it reaffirms his outlook on life right before he goes off into college.
she didn't have lifelong passion. just goals that she achieved

죽인다...
This might just be me, but to me the music and tone of this song completely epitomize depression. There is something about it that I just connect to that truly deep pain. I love the song, and I realize that that is not what it is actually about, it's just my experience and I was wondering if anyone else felt that same connection.
in a way it is. it's definitely about losing our humanity to technology, and I would interpret that as quite depressing.
I agree completely. For me, the song plays on the idea of our impermanence, our fragility in the face of technological advancement. As time marches forward, we'll all be left behind, singing lala lala lala la la...
To me it's like the oppisite, it frees me from the feeling of depression and gives me a peaceful will to live.
YES, perhaps it's because this song has such nostalgic melody and lyrics...
Theresa, I cannot listen to it without tears streaming down my face, I remember when a computer beat the greatest chess champion ever in 96. I 'd been playing chess games with "Boris" and could never win. So when I first head "You could never predict it, that it could see through you..." a shiver went through my soul. And when "in the night there is something wild, I feel it, it's leaving me..." I begin sobbing. How much have we lost, caught in the glare of cellphones and laptops? Arcade Fire is prophetic, passionate and stands alone in the music world. The greatest ever. As for depression, yes. Because for me, we are not only praying to a dying star, we are living on one.
This song just gets me sad and nervous to think we are at the verge of war and from sending our young naive man back into the battlefield ... Beautiful masterpiece
