Apple, Fiona - Jonathan Lyrics

Jonathan, call again
Take me to Coney Island
Take me on the train
Kiss me while I calculate
And calibrate and heaven's sake
Don't make me explain

Just tolerate my little fist
Tugging on your forest chest
I don't wanna talk about
I don't wanna talk about anything
I don't wanna talk about
I don't wanna talk about anything

Jonathan, anything
And anyone that you have done
Has gotta be alright with me
If she's part of
The reason you are how you are
She's alright with me

Just tolerate my little fist
Tugging on your forest chest
I don't wanna talk about
I don't wanna talk about anything
I don't wanna talk about
I don't wanna talk about anything

You like to captain
A capsized ship
But I like watching you live [x2]

Jonathan, call again
Take me to Coney Island
Take me on the train
Kiss me while I calculate
And calibrate and heaven's sake
Don't make me explain

Just tolerate my little fist
Tugging on your forest chest
I don't wanna talk about
I don't wanna talk about anything
I don't wanna talk about
I don't wanna talk about anything

Apple, Fiona Jonathan Comments
  1. Z.... P....

I got Fiona apple tattooed on me literally I love her so much and she not even from my time

  2. A.... D....

the harmonies are so unusual. this song so unsettling and yet so hypnotizing

  3. J.... F....

I remember this photo shoot it was for Interview Magazine

  4. J.... A....

One of my favourites on The Idler Wheel. I love how instrumentally there's a lot of dark tension in the melody and percussion. And on top of that Fiona's brooding vocals.

  5. H.... S....

Her voice is so beautifully broken

  6. J.... B....

She defies categories grouping this little lass is so creative.I love the layered depth the song has and lyrics far more imagination that the rest of her peers that is the epitome of unique

  7. K.... P....

I'd recognize that piano riff anywhere ...

  8. S.... V....

Here after Jonathan Ames mentioned it on Coffee and Flowers!

  9. U.... M....

I love the end, it s so dramatic and somehow creepy but in a good way

  10. M.... M....

Yeah, every note and lyric makes sense.

  11. M.... R....

Jonathan Ames, the author of "You Were Never Really Here", recently made into the movie. In a later video, this is one song that Fiona said she would not sing again publicly...

  12. A.... S....

This song makes me think of my boyfriend. I listen to it whenever he’s away

  13. A.... B....

This Music reminds me of Black Swan

  14. Y.... ....

How can a song be so good?

  15. J.... W....

    Successfully moving on in life:)

  16. c.... ....

Trent Reznor just can't pick a genre smh

  17. j.... ....

It's almost like you just want to have a good day with someone , but if you start to open up you'll ruin the day. Wonderfully captures that emotion for me.

  18. c.... z....

absolutely brilliant. such original piano chords progression - and the song is still catchy and makes total sense. pure genius.

  19. f.... ....

i dont want taco bell anything

  20. N.... A....

Forever and always the queen of alternative, I love her 💕🎼

  21. J.... ....

this is a cool song, but it's really unsettling at points melodically

    J.... ....

I think the fact that it's unsettling is essentially what makes it a cool song.

  22. K.... F....

This is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard.

  23. B.... S....

    Jonathan won't call again...

    B.... S....

Barbie Segovia Jonathan is a €%&€@

    B.... S....

This and your last comment were a rollercoaster. Uh, a short one. But a rollercoaster.

  24. B.... S....

    Jonathan call again <3

  25. B.... S....

    Jonathan call again... <3

  26. J.... R....

What's striking about this song is how "moody" it is musically. The piano alternates between tones of happy and hopeful to dark and brooding. It's like the music is indecisive: it can't make up its mind on whether it wants to be happy or sad. I feel like the wavering piano in how it alternates between these extreme moods seamlessly could be an auditory representation of the psyche of a person with Bipolar Disorder.

It really makes for an intense and unsettling song.

    J.... R....

If you like this, listen to "Esperanza Spaulding - Fall In."

    J.... R....

Everyone is bi polar, happy then sad but the stupid people love to blame their problems on something :/

    J.... R....

    You’re amazing for explaining this.

    J.... R....

uhhh, that's simply the, 'female' in the 'artist'.

  27. L.... B....

I don't want to talk about... anything

  28. B.... S....

    Always, Jonathan<3

  29. B.... S....

One of my favorite artists and a song called as my favorite person in the whole world, Jonathan. Great!! JONATHAN <3

  30. A.... ....

This reminds me if the background music for the Freaky Fred episode of Courage the Cowardly Dog. I loved that show so much.

    A.... ....

That show scared the shit out of me! Like it still gives me chills! But I can see why people like it

  31. J.... D....

I don't wanna talk about it. I don't wanna talk about anything.

  32. A.... C....

I was thinking as the music reaches us...

  33. S.... F....

She is a genius, such a brilliant song!

  34. M.... M....

I dont want a Taco Bell, i dont wanna Taco Bell
    🎶

  35. R.... N....

True to her art, Fiona blankets her canvass with the paint of a genius. LOVE LOVE LOVE!

  36. r.... ....

Fiona Apple will be forever a legend.

    r.... ....

    Agreed !

  37. R.... H....

Fiona Apple with Multi-Instrumentalist Charley Drayton; from the critically aclaimed 2012 release "The Idler Wheel is wiser than the Driver of the Screw, and Whipping Cords will serve you more than Ropes will ever do".

  38. A.... ....

Fiona's music is a genre onto itself

  39. a.... c....

apple will forever be a treasure to hear...

  40. A.... O....

I'm going to see if this one grows on me since everyone else seems to love it, but it just does speak to me.  I really like Fiona Apple's music though.

  41. G.... ....

She just gets better and better and better...

    G.... ....

Agreed ! Tidal was a great album ... When the pawn was even better ... Extraordinary Machine was flawless ... And The Idler Wheel is legendary!

    G.... ....

@kevin patrick I thought I was the only one who loved Extraordinary Machine.

  42. i.... ....

This is soooo Ironic.. my favorite artist in the whole world made a song about the man that I LOVE! So weird.. the stars are aligned

    i.... ....

    Omg same.. my boyfriend's name..

  43. p.... ....

an amazing composition.  She is a true musician.

  44. P.... G....

    very good

  45. J.... J....

This is my favorite work of hers. It has her most imaginative production, the most dynamic lyrics and unleashed vocals. It is her least accessible album however.

  46. B.... ....

Don't get me wrong a Fiona Apple album is still better than 95% of the crap out there. Maybe it was just a little too much change for me. Of course it's been like 8 years. Nora Roberts would have put out like 25 novels. hehe

  47. n.... r....

Such a complex song. Listen, listen.

    n.... r....

    nadia ruiz hola

  48. C.... ....

I didn't like this song when I first heard it and then it got stuck in my head and became my favourite on the Idler Wheel.

  49. J.... T....

My name is Jonathan and I approve this song.

  50. M.... ....

I really can't stop listening to this song. But I always rediscover and fall absolutely more in love with all of her songs.

  51. b.... ....

    yeah, I remember those days...

  52. T.... G....

Piel de gallina // It gives me the chills.

  53. T.... G....

Piel de gallina // It gives me the chills.

  54. B.... ....

This is my least favorite of her albums.

  55. J.... S....

    Absolute Genius

  56. L.... A....

"I don't wanna talk about, I don't wanna talk about ANYTHING,"

  57. T.... D....

    perfect

  58. s.... ....

Ifeelicanmoveonandmaybeforgetaboutanythingwhichleave'smelockedinandregretingyetijustputmyheaadinthedirtagiannobody'sthereyeti'mtrying..... oh no my space bar stopped working, justfail.com

  59. J.... L....

My name is Josh, I will make you forget Jonathan.

  60. J.... F....

My name is jonathan. not only that, i have the same birthday as her as well.

  61. E.... ....

One Apple a day, keep bad music away!

  62. j.... m....

My name is Jonathan can I take you to cony island.

  63. j.... c....

Genius is way too small a word for The idler Wheel.

  64. M.... ....

I really like this one. The piano part is nice. Must be the sharps and flats people talk about regarding Fiona's music. This makes me think of a person in an old time institution for mentally ill.

  65. C.... ....

Jonathan reporting in, awesome song Ms.Apple

  66. S.... ....

Fiona Apple is most likely playing the piano herself, so yeah....

  67. Z.... ....

Wow. Fiona never ceases to amaze me. Been listening since '97 when I was a teen and I love her even more.

  68. b.... ....

well they're one in the same, so...

  69. B.... ....

    she's drastically thinner.

  70. C.... ....

no way, she looks different because she is simply older and more beautiful

  71. R.... ....

This is hypnotic, I like it more and more. First time I hear it.

  72. M.... R....

If you really appreciated music as an art form you wouldn't write off an entire genre okay bye

  73. L.... R....

    wheres the 50cent mention?

  74. M.... M....

    don't get it.

  75. m.... ....

I wasn't writing off an entire genre, however, the majority is violent, materialistic, chauvinistic garbage. There are very few rappers whose lyrics would have any real meaning without a good beat behind them....

  76. J.... J....

Rap can be fantastic. Don't write off an entire genre just because of idiots like 50 cent

  77. J.... S....

i'm totally stealing that acronym LOL

  78. S.... Y....

    这张专辑是我的大爱!!!等以后我一定会买这张的----现在只好先听网络上的:(

  79. m.... ....

So thankful for true ARTISTS like Fiona Apple in a world that thinks Brittney Spears and Lady Gaga make great music. Let's not forget all the Retards Attempting Poetry(A.K.A. rap) Sorry to be politically incorrect, but it works this time ;)

  80. j.... ....

you not really a true fiona fan and thats ok

  81. j.... ....

god i love this woman shes my peace and quite her words fill my soul with feeling true feelings with out drugs......thank you fiona

  82. M.... ....

has anyone found sheet music for this?

  83. L.... S....

    happy b-day Fiona!
p.s. release another album soon, please. thank you :)

  84. W.... ....

like we give a shit on a completely unrelated video

  85. j.... ....

    Amy lee

  86. R.... M....

    Jesus Saves!

  87. j.... ....

I was searching for Fiona's music and came across this song...my name is jonathan :l

  88. A.... ....

    This song is my favorite.

  89. p.... ....

this is another one of my favorite songs from the idler wheel. i love the weird, mechanical sounds on this album. I like to pretend the noises in the background are the roller coaster being operated at coney island.

  90. N.... ....

this is turning into a problem

  91. L.... ....

    not at all!

  92. J.... P....

That awesome moment when your name is actually Jonathan :)
