Apocalyptica - Slow Burn Lyrics

I burn for you every time I hear your name
When I think I see your face, I know, it must be madness
I feel the sting striking at me like a match
Anything to bring you back - if only for a moment

I can feel your slow burn growing in me
Everywhere I go, you're right there with me... holding on, ever long
Wish I could forget I could not remember, all I have left is the ash and embers
Permanent. Smoldering

Just like a slow burn, stay with me forever
I can't let you ever fade away
Just like a slow burn, say you'll never let me down and never go out

I fall apart like paper put to flame
The life we had reduce to ashes right before us
Every hurtful word, burned into my side
Much to hard to speak, scarred to deep to hide

Just like a slow burn, stay with me forever
I can't let you ever fade away
Just like a slow burn, say you'll never let me down
And never go out, my slow burn, burning me down

I walk the fire - I feed the flame
I'd walk the fire - I'd feel your flame

Just like a slow burn, stay with me forever
I cant let you ever fade away
Just like a slow burn, lay with me forever
Our light it shines forever, never fades away

Just like a slow burn, stay with me forever
I can't let you ever fade away
Just like a slow burn, say you'll never let me down
Please never go out, my slow burn, burning me down

    Chama Lenta

Eu ardo por você sempre que ouço seu nome
Quando acho que vejo seu rosto, eu sei, deve ser loucura
Sinto a picada me acender feito um fósforo

    Permanentes, ardendo a fogo lento

Como uma chama lenta, fique comigo para sempre
    Não posso te deixar desaparecer
Como uma chama lenta, diga que nunca me decepcionará ou partirá

Eu me desintegro feito papel em chamas

E nunca sair, minha chama lenta, me queimando

Eu caminho no fogo - eu alimento a chama

overheard a few seconds of that song from a car while i was walking home earlier, and immediately thought: wait that's Apocalyptica but I don't know that song! Reminded me that i had never listened to this album... i somehow lost interest after 7th Symphony. I feel like i'm back in high school right now :D

Frankie sounds really awesome, i love his voice, he really match with apocalyptica, this is my fav song

  16. G.... L....

Although all the vocalists are different and good surely people should be focusing a little more on the fact that this type of music is being created and performed on cellos....

  17. P.... C....

  18. M.... P....

I'm so crazy of this album \o/ I hope I'll can see them in November ! It's so amazing, I don't have the words to describe how I'm feeling when I hear the songs of the album Shadowmakers of Apocalyptica ! ❤

  19. K.... H....

Apocalyptica have an official vocalist or not?

    K.... H....

For the Shadowmaker album there is Franky Perez. Normally they have guest vocalists on their albums if they do have vocals on their tracks.

  38. .... ....

Good music, ugly vocals... When they did instrumental compositions it was far more better. Now it is just boring mainstream...

    .... ....

+KumanezumiSatoi Yeah, you're a special snowflake... If it is mainstream, well, you can go watch some unknown band from Iran or something... I bet that they are not mainstream... Fan-boy...

    .... ....

    +KumanezumiSatoi
    1) They still do instrumental compositions, Shadowmaker had 4 instrumental tracks, their first live album, Wagner Reloaded - Live in Leipzig, released in 2013, is completely instrumental.
    2) If they did it to become more popular, more mainstream, why did they choose for Franky Perez, someone only few knew before this. They could have gone with someone more famous.
    3) Now they are mainstream... Coma from Cult (2000), with 6:59 was their first song with a duration over 6 and half minutes. At the Gates of Manala from 7th Symphony (2010) was their second with such a length. Their first in 10 years! 7th Symphony was the first album with two tracks of duration over 7 minutes (At the Gates of Manala with 7:03 and Rage of Poseidon with 8:49), Shadowmaker (2015) had five tracks over the 6 and half minutes: Riot Lights (Instrumental) is 6:40, Reign of Fear (Instrumental) is 6:54, Shadowmaker is 7:35, Till Death Do Us Part (Instrumental) is 7:50 and Dead Man's Eyes is 9:42. What kind of band goes mainstream by making tracks that are a lot longer than their previous work.

You have the right to dislike them or their new material but don't come with bulgeous arguments like they don't do instrumentals anymore or they have become mainstream, because the facts say differently.

  39. P.... ....

You lost your sound or what?

  40. t.... ....

    P.... ....

Thanks Maggie so he's new, ok seems perfect for the band. I swear he was from a different band but of course that is my assumption we're talking about. ;)

    P.... ....

No Problem!! I Think He Did Something For Sons Of Anarchy As Well. Idk!

    P.... ....

Franky Perez, former guitarist and backing vocalist of Scars On Broadway.

    P.... ....

+Toa Zahrok Cool, I'm familiar with Scars on Broadway, he's usually with Serj Tankian from System of a Down. :)

    P.... ....

Yes, Scars On Broadway was a band featuring Daron Malakian and John Dolmayan, guitarist/vocalist and drummer of System of a Down.

  46. M.... S....

    Great Album!

Each and every piece has something different to offer. Best listened to from beginning to end, multiple times. Sometimes, the only reason I can't get all the way through is I keep replaying the tracks.

I fall apart like paper put to flame
The life we had reduce to ashes right before us
Every hurtful word, burned into my side
Much to hard to speak, scarred to deep to hide

I can feel your slow burn growing in me

    Holding on, ever long

Just like a slow burn, stay with me forever
I can't let you ever fade away

My slow burn, burning me down..

  49. j.... a....

Apocalypica a fait encore un tre bon albome.LOVE APOCALYPICA

  50. D.... ....

    this is my end...

  51. C.... H....

I love Apocalyptica but now, I think is like all other bands... I don't now...It's not the same way of make music, composing... I am missing the cellos development through the music.I really didn't like this amount of vocals, sorry. But ok, It's not bad...

  52. G.... H....

so is franky perez an official member of the band?! that's a first!

    G.... H....

@george harris Based on an interview with Paavo and Mikko in Berlin (sorry, I can't provide a source, it was published in a rock/metal magazine), they weren't looking for a full member vocalist and that Frankie's contribution to Apocalyptica will be one album + the Shadowmaker Tour. After the tour, Frankie will move on to different projects (as he have done in the past) and Apocalyptica will start thinking about new songs. But I have to say, for a "one-album gimmick", Frankie is good, once you got used to his voice, even great and I wouldn't mind if he would replace Tipe Johnson for future tours.

    G.... H....

@BjornV1994 so he's temporary? good.. i can't wait to hear how they would sound with tarja turunen!

    G.... H....

@george harris As how everyone (Eicca, Paavo) formulated it (and with Frankie's own background, he have played in many groups for a while before moving on), yes. (And yes, With Tarja, it would sound awesome... So many great combination possible though)

  53. N.... F....

Thanks for songs like this, it is more than perfect!!!!!

  54. Y.... L....

Fuck, they're making what they want and music evolves. Yes, it's more for radio music, yes you may not like it, but personally I've loved all of these songs so far.

  55. e.... ....

Nice! Simple! Frankie has great vocals here. Good diversity.

  56. E.... L....

I hated Cold Blood. This one looks good but my favorite till now is Until Dead Do Us Part.

  57. H.... D....

What is it with the word "burn" in apocalyptica's songs?

You have 'Burn', 'life burns', and now 'slow burn'

    H.... D....

@Hemenehem Duck Just take it in and feel the music! lol

    H.... D....

@Oliver Queen It's a contraction from the words Apocalypse (your assumption is right) and Metallica (Their first album was Metallica played on Four Cellos, and they are big fans of Metallica)

    H.... D....

+Pandorum4000 They are from a country called Finland, not Scandinavia. Scandinavia is Norway+Sweden+Denmark.

    H.... D....

    Finland is cold.

    H.... D....

@fireonice And all the lyrics of the Bulgarian anthem. Manowar are 3/4 Bulgarian :)

  58. K.... ....

Does all of the new songs from Shadowmaker have vocals?

    K.... ....

@Kurt2012007 No, but about half of them do. Check out "Till Death Do Us Part" for the instrumental track they released ahead of the album.

  59. C.... ....

Guys, You are totally amazing. Every single song, I'm already feeling obsessed with the new album, even though I obviously havn't heard it all. Can't wait to have it in my hands <3

  60. H.... H....

Wow this is a good song, best vocals from Franky so far, really looking forward to the album !!

  61. J.... P....

    j'adore

  62. M.... B....

    Guys you're fucking amazing... I'm speechless <3.

  63. k.... ....

Emotion dear, emotion. That's what I think Frank didn't really managed to transmit, the emotions, through this song. I know the band is like in the middle of a transition process which brings ups and downs so I do appreciate the risk. Personally, I feel the song lacks emotion, you gotta sell me this song. Come on Franky, I know you can do it.

  64. G.... ....

    impresionante :o
pero mi pregunta es quien hace la voz?

I'm torn about new Apocalyptica. Love them to death, but so many girlfriend/breakup songs lately. I still enjoy it. It just seems like a shallow subject for an entire album.

That being said, this is still some of the best hardrock that I've heard. And they're one of my favourite metal bands of all time.

    So

    Torn

    O.... W....

    @Owesy Woesy
7th Symphony isn't much different in that regard. Majority of Apocalyptica's vocal tracks have the relationship motif.

    O.... W....

I suppose. I very much prefer instrumental Apocalyptica, probably due in some respect to that reason. I'd like to hear fresh subject matter if they're going to be sticking with a vocalist, though. What they did with Corey Taylor was intriguing, heavier, and much deeper than a lot of their other vocal tracks. I don't need super heavy subject matter. I just prefer not to hear about girl problems again.

    O.... W....

This is exactly why Sea Song is my favorite of the vocal tracks on the new album, with Cold Blood at second place. Sea Song sounds like, to me, at least, an amazing death anthem with the sea of souls calling back to somebody and the Reaper being indifferent to the insults slung at him by those he reaps. I'm not sure what the actual intended story is behind it, but it evokes much more imagination than most of the other vocal tracks.

  72. R.... C....

  79. .... ....

    Amasing Song!

  80. M.... ....

There's just something missing, for me. I admit I do not like Franky, but this feels a little monochrome to me. There's no passion or feeling in the way the vocals come across for the most part. Is it not about losing love, or falling out of love? Where is the emotion!
Liking the cellos, but wish they had a bit more room to shine. I know it's likely "made for radio", but if it was on radio, it wouldn't grab my attention.

Hoping the rest of the album is better!

    M.... ....

@Misrabelle If you saw them live you'd feel the emotion. After seeing them live I couldn't disagree with your comment more.

    M.... ....

    @Shirl Hadley
Oh, I've seen them live. Twice on the tour in Australia this year. Perttu gets into it, but Franky's vocals still do nothing for me.

    M.... ....

@Shirl Hadley Franky gives his soul to the performance on stage. You are absolutely right. One of the best live performers I've seen and I've literally seen hundreds.

  81. s.... ....

I loooooove it!!!!! I can't wait for the album!!!!

  82. L.... H....

    Wow, just....this is amazing.

  83. A.... N....

This song is great! Maybe some fans wont like it as they didn't like Cold blood, but man! Come on! just because two songs of the new album aren't good for you it doesn't mean the hole album will be shit! Don't you have listen to masterpiece Till death do us part? This album has too much more to offer us! I <3 Apocalyptica

  84. P.... R....

Man, Till death set us apart and this new song gives me a chill ! I feel the Power of the cello !

    P.... R....

Pale Rider did same for me! this whole album grew on me more than I love just listening to the instrumentals.

    P.... R....

Yes still listening in 2018 lol

  85. I.... M....

To be more serious, I feel like a... Frustraiting feeling when I hear that song. Better than Cold Blood, it's like listening to a sketch of a good song. Something's like missing from it. A kind of pleasure, of complexity that I cannot explain. I'm a bit disappointed, once again, and I begin to lose hope in their work... Even if Till Death Do Us Apart and Shadowmaker are great, the two others are flat, and soulless. I'm sad of that monotony.

    I.... M....

@CelloUpYourArse So does the album have an even mix between vocal songs and instrumental songs? The instrumental tracks is what drew me to Apocalyptica to begin with.

PS So the songs Apocalyptica is playing at concerts now all from the new album and no older songs?

    I.... M....

@Kurt2012007 According to what I heard, the concert is 1h30, every album of Apocalyptica (including the Deluxe versions) are at longest an hour. Likely that half an hour that remains will be filled with some fan favorites. (It also not sure, they will play the whole album, Sabaton didn't do this when I went watching them in February, so...)

    I.... M....

Setlist fm shows older and a few new songs, keep checking though, the latest setlist I can find is 14th March. And they are only on stage for 45 minutes

    I.... M....

@Kurt2012007 That's very difficult to say. In my opinion Apocalyptica are not just "instrumental tracks" and "vocal tracks", they are a whole multitude of things, styles, genres, etc, regardless of instrument/singer choice. I do believe that instrumental diehards will love the parts without Franky, they're better than they've ever been, but the songs with Franky are much stronger than a LOT of previous collaborations. There may be a couple that don't inspire you if you're not willing to give vocals a chance (though I urge you to try since I too love instrumentals the most but actually really love a couple of the songs with Franky). The rest is instrumental, or a nice mix. And from what I remember, the solely instrumentals are all rather long songs so... Bloody marvelous.
Basically I think even though a majority of songs have Franky (I think), the ratio of instrumental to vocals is probably still the same as what we're used to, but I'm not sure.

As for the shows, in my experience, when Apocalyptica have just released an album they'll usually play most songs from the new album, and some older tunes and classics. I don't think many bands just play the whole thing, 'cause everyone loves a good classic. :3
If what you're wondering is if you should go to a concert.... Well, whether you like the new album or not, go to the concert. Always go. They are so good live *___*

    I.... M....

@CelloUpYourArse Oh I'm definitely going to try to go if I can get a few hours off work at the end of the day haha. They are coming to my state in the middle of May and even though it would be a 3 hour drive for me, I'm totally going to go. Also going to get the VIP ticket for the photo op and autographs :)

  88. L.... C....

    Awesome ! <3

  89. B.... ....

Sounds great! can't wait for this album :D

    B.... ....

@Bigsmile Indeed a fantastic track, althought I was a first sceptical about Frankie (the first time I heard Shadowmaker, I wasn't really impressed, it was good but I started to appreciate it more and more later on), the more I hear his voice, the more I have the feeling they made a good choice to use him from this album. (It is very likely he won't become a full time member, only for this album or for their tours).

    B.... ....

@BjornV1994 I honestly hope he doesn't stay. I find his voice very monotonous. He can sing, but I think he'd be better suited elsewhere.

    B.... ....

@Misrabelle He will likely leave the group after the Shadowmaker's tour (at least that seemed to be the plan), maybe only return for  tours (like Tipe Johnson did) but we will see. Franky is a solo artist (according to his wikipedia page, maybe not the best source but...,) (2002-present), with several different projects, Shadowmaker is one of them (it is listed as other works.) And based on the tone of the article, Frankie needs his freedom (he doesn't want to be a full member of a band) and prefers to work projects, instead of bands (he previously worked with Scars on Broadway, before moving onto Apo)

In all fairness, I don't really mind if he stays or not, he is good singer but not a neccessity for the group, the only real downer with Frankie as full member is the reduced chance on colloborations with other singers. But time will tell...

    B.... ....

Yeah. I mean I can see their point, that working as a whole unit is far easier, and it's the first time they've done it, which makes it feel different to them. But at the same time I also think working with different singers gives a freedom to write the song they want, and then find a voice to fit it - which of course is a logistic nightmare, I know it's not as easy as asking someone to sing and them saying yes or no. There's all the legal stuff that goes on behind the scenes too.
I just think having the one singer limits them to working around his voice, which so far doesn't seem to have that much depth.
