A big problem I have with Amazon moving so strongly into delivery territory is that people are saying Amazon's delivery services are creating new jobs. That's not really true. Years ago, you'd see "UPS hiring for delivery jobs" or "USPS hiring for delivery jobs". Now it's "Amazon hiring for delivery jobs". Same shit, different day. It's as though people think that because amazon has acquired a greater portion of the delivery of the products they sell, MORE things are being delivered because MORE people are buying MORE stuff. It's just a shift from one big name to another, and that in and of itself is not the problem unless you look at it as a rapidly growing and disturbing monopoly (at least Bezos is into alternative energy, that's all I can say), but the real problem is that this idea of mass consumption growing and growing and growing so everyone can be rich one day in this utopian capitalist economy that will never come to be, is that it does NOT ADD NATURAL RESOURCES to the equation. We are still working with the same capacities of the planet, and are already decimating ecosystems to get those resources. It only depletes the resources faster to let the corporations pillage them all and lie to us saying that one day YOU TOO can be a filthy rich salesman of whatever bullshit you want to peddle. This is why no matter how much the govt claims the GDP is just going to soar with their "new plan", it doesn't.... because supply already far exceeds demand. The only reason there is a steady, nominal GDP growth is because it is parallel to population growth and inflation. IT'S STILL THE SAME FUCKING RESOURCE SUPPLY/CAPACITY/DEMAND RATIO.

There isn't much market growth beyond population growth and maybe in some cases, emerging markets (like building big box stores in Africa or some shit) It's just takeover = shifting of market.

Like all of the sudden if we count all our apples a different way, we're going to have more profit and then maybe we can scrape some bonuses over to the workers, we promise. That doesn't work? Well we'll just tell the workers to pick faster. Still no more apples? Well now we'll tell them to plant more trees. What, people don't really want more apples? Well, fuck, maybe we need a new salesman. Still no more money to put into the world's largest bank accounts??? Well then, let's just get robots to grow and pick the fucking apples so we don't have to hear the workers complain about not being able to pay rent. Now the CEO can have even more money and take less calls. UTOPIA.
