Animals, The - Inside Looking Out Lyrics

Sittin' here lonely like a broken man
Sell my time and do the best I can
I wasn't boss this around in me
I don't want your sympathy, yeah
Oh baby, oh baby, I just need your tender lovin'
To keep me sane in this burnin' oven
When my time is up, be my ....[?]
Like Adam's work on God's green earth
My reaper, my reaper baby, ....[?] is my reaper, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, baby baby baby c'mon c'mon c'mon, yeah
Ice cold waters runnin' in my brain
They drag me back to work again
Pains and blisters on my minds and my hands
From living daily with those canvas bags
Thoughts of freedom their drivin' me wild
And I'll by happy like a new born child
We'll be together, girl, you wait and see
No more walls to keep your love from me
Yeah, can't you feel my love
Baby, baby, need you, squeeze you,
Noooo-body but, nobody but, you girl, I love you, need you
All right, I said everything's gonna be all right
And if you don't believe what I say
Just listen baby and I'll tell you
Can't you feel my love
Can't you see my skill
Can't you yell my love
It's getting louder
It's getting louder
A little closer, yeah
I said baby, I need you, c'mon, squeeze, please
Lord, I love you, I need you, yeah
Yeah, right by my side
I need you here by my side
But I can't help it baby
But, I'll be home soon
I'll be home soon, yeah
All right, whoa:..

  10. Donald Dixon

Mark Farner and Grand Funk does a MUCH better job than this version. This is weak compared to theirs...

  19. Robert Ganser

One of the first Tracks in Rock History you really can call vintage Metal … far out in 1966 and incredible! And still a timeless great one, or not?

  20. David Fox

GREAT SONG - GREAT BAND - IS IT THE FIRST VERSION EVER RECORDED ??

    Andrew Smith

Yes. Eric Burdon was one of the songwriters, along with John, Alan Lomax and Chas Chandler.

  21. kjburkable

the last few singles of the animals before they broke up in 1966 were magnificent....inside looking out and don`t bring me down.....here, it sounds like a live recording though it`s the actual single...great bass riff from chas chandler, wild eric burden vocal, rising twang guitar from hilton valentine....raw.

  25. Ella Fiona Reid

My daughter loves it too, Seth, bless your grandfather! My Dad was at Monte Cassino

  26. Seth Abeyta

i just realized that im only 13 and i love this song. Its only becausee my grandpa listens to thus music. He also participated in Vietnam.

XxBEASTMODExX Gaming it's a shame music isn't like it now

Seth Abeyta Same. I’m 14 and like old rock and little new rock songs than new music genres like trap.

  32. Mantis Toboggan

    sludgetwisters!!

  33. victor ortiz

    grand funk railroad

    M.E. Tan

victor ortiz the heck. Grand funk railroad was never and never will be as great as led zeppelin. I've never even heard of any iconic songs by grand funk railroad

    victor ortiz

man I'm a big led zep fan also, but you have to take into account the context of the band, being both great Arena bands, stadium and stuff, by the time they were playing watching both bands at stage was a unique event.. I read somewhere that in one of these presentations grand funk was the opener for Led Zep and they refused to play after them while in stage XD

    Andrew Smith

Your taste is bubble gum. Grand Funk was a third rate, low talent operation. Eric Burdon was the greatest white blues singer of his era. By a long shot. To even mention GFR as a rival with its second-rate rendition of this song is puerile, ignorant nonsense.

    F Mills

Set the video speed on .75 and it sounds more like Grand Funk RR version. In other words it sounds better.

    Rick Leblanc

@Andrew Smith shut up people! Can we agree that there are fans of both versions and leave it at that ? Just like the big Sammy vs Dave debate or Ozzy vs Dio. There's a lotta great shit to go around and satisfy everyone.

  34. babyRoses7

What a song! Eric and the guys out did themselves hammering this one out. Fantastic. I have the original vinyl album. And I love this song. Talk about soul. This is it! Listen to that bass guitar banging your brain out. Loool! This blows you away! Peace and Love folks!

    Mark Muffs

+babyRoses7 I have the 45 and when played, it like the song wants to bust out of the house, lol. A very powerful prison song, ahead of its time for 1966.

  35. Colin Sanders

entered Cashbox chart Feb 26, 1966

  36. key zen

    solo 3mil personas!! me encanta!

  37. Mark Muffs

this awesome tune is a bit ahead of its time for 1966. Its a song about being in prison.

  38. Greg Deyermenjian

Squeezes the most intense soul possible out of one single dronechord...

  39. Lyle Hill

    lot of elvis in this

    Andrew Smith

Ridiculous! Elvis was a fine performer, but no real blues singer.
