Animals, The - I Believe To My Soul Lyrics

One of these days and it won't be long
Youre gonna search for me and down the road I'm gone
'Cause I believe
Oh yes, I believe
I believe to my soul
You're tryin' to mess around with me babe

You keep complainin, my progression is slow
You shouldn't complain baby
You aught to know
'Cause I believe
Oh yes sir I believe
I believe to my soul
You're tryin to make a fool of me

Once you told me you loved me I found out it was a lie
You should be ashamed baby hang your head and cry
'Cause I believe
Oh yes, I believe
I believe to my soul
You're tryin' to make a fool of me
I believe it

  3. M.... ....

Lots of blues in that one <3 And that voice...

  4. L.... Y....

No false pretenses with Eric Burdon & The Animals ! I waste my time listening, to any of the R & R they play on the radio now ! This is real down to earth and to the very nerves of your soul ! You really do feel, what he is singing !

  5. k.... k....

    No matter what song.
I always prefer The Animals cover.

  6. D.... T....

Jazzy soul for the soul. ❤👏

    Eric 🦊🦊🦊🦊🦊🦊🦊🦊

  13. A.... T....

So young boy, and so profound comprehending the nature of blues song...

  14. r.... ....

It's too bad these guys didn't get along and were ripped off by their management. I kind of wish that the Rolling Stones had broken up in 1966, and the Animals were still together to this day! When Alan and John left, things were never the same.

  15. D.... A....

This is a GREAT song. I pity those that can't feel it.

  16. F.... A....

    Man what an intro

  17. M.... Z....

Ray Charles was the artist of all time and Eric Burdon is his white child... ;-)

  18. N.... K....

    Это просто потрясающе !!!!

  19. L.... W....

close your eyes and listen before know who is this band ,sound like ozzy osbourne jjaja

The way he sings is SO GOOD...and he looks so good!!!

  24. B.... H....

Horrible ray Charles RIP off awful

    B.... H....

    It's called a cover. lul

  25. S.... P....

    The Legend!!!!!

  26. f.... e....

  27. M.... S....

Alan Price does it at 110%. Chas, Hilton, John...what a group!

  28. D.... M....

The best R&b Band of the sixties..... My Blues Journey had begun.........

  29. H.... P....

Great track from a brilliant band

  30. K.... P....

    Oh man...how sexy is this song? Eric...oh baby...damn... ❤️

  31. K.... P....

Oh man....even now in 2017 I want to bed that man. Eric was sexy as hell....

    K.... P....

After me Kim pompa eric its mine!

    K.... P....

claudia brando freitas  Girls, I look a lot like Eric. Why don't you give me a call?

    K.... P....

    @retrorex yeah sure 😂😉 I want prove!

    K.... P....

@Awesome60sand70smusic Awesome60sand70smusic Check out my Facebook site, then leave me your phone number. Thanks in advance!

  32. M.... ....

This song is probably my favorite of all their earliest stuff which, imo, was their best. The contrast between this band and the then-popular bands like the Beatles, Dave Clark 5, Mercybeats and others couldn't have be starker.

  33. B.... ....

What a exceptional voice! Too bad the band has not existed longer!

  34. C.... C....

Eric - fantastic voice, Alan great on keyboard. Best band of all. I'm hearing many of these for the first time - what a treat.

    C.... C....

    Enjoy Caroline.

    C.... C....

@William Wallace For me they are.

    C.... C....

@Holmes Then that's what you should have written.

    C.... C....

@William Wallace What are you going on about??

    C.... C....

@Holmes In reference to Caroline Clements comment. You/she should have written/typed 'For me they are the best band of all' as opposed to stating it as if it's a fact.

  35. L.... R....

I think his mom had to drive him to this session.

  36. J.... K....

The Animals are unparalleled still today.

    J.... K....

    Surpassed by many bands.

  37. T.... G....

damn Eric had such a powerful voice with soul!!

    T.... G....

    He still has.

  38. E.... F....

One of my favourite songs- Eric's voice!

  39. m.... S....

    Eres grande Eric, el mejor!

  40. L.... C....

    Erick Burdon, the best

  41. c.... b....

Sempre linda sedutora a voz de Eric aqui ele se supera!

  42. c.... ....

No other white boy can moan and scream like Eric Burdon --maybe Mitch
    Ryder when he was younger---

    c.... ....

    You think--------------LMAO---------

    c.... ....

who maid the microphone to moan on, ignorant fuck

    c.... ....

    Jim Morrison

    c.... ....

I'm a white boy, and I moan and scream at my knee pain every day. Respect.

  43. G.... V....

    Eric's voice is sex <3

    G.... V....

    Gabriela Valdés shut up bitch

  44. d.... r....

    grande blues!!

  45. T.... E....

this is the band I wanted to be in in'64 -ty for post

  46. g.... ....

Great music not held back by today's pressures

  47. A.... F....

Uno dei brani presentati a Torino per la finale del Trofeo Davoli Piemontese in cui vinsero I CAPOSTIPITI (modestamente... io ero la voce... e tastiere)! :-)

  48. j.... c....

    shit thats good.

  49. H.... ....

    Absolutely fantastic

  50. G.... W....

Burdon yeah ok he's good. Hows about Allan Price the whiz on piano?! He creates the whole musical landscape on this one

    G.... W....

Yeah, I agree--Doors modeled themselves on Animals--but Doors were less blues-influenced, with more jazzy, occasionally cabaret-style sound.

    G.... W....

Glenn Wheatcroft He took the credit and then was the only one to sign the the 45 was Price because there wasn’t room for the other names and the rest of the band was told they would sort out the legalities later. Never happened. Price took ALL the royalties no one else saw a dime, to this day then he left the band. I don’t care how well he played he’s an asshole. You just don’t do that. Died years later in a plane crash Karma??????

    G.... W....

Lies, damn lies, and stats Margo E. Wilkins Well said. I say he Is the best white Blues singer ever. I see you on a lot of his videos comment areas. You know your stuff. I’m a MoTown white girl who has a lost of Respect for you. Pun intended😉✌️

    G.... W....

Glenn Wheatcroft all Burdon did was sing. Are you joking. The band was great but Eric Burdon is ........THE GREATEST WHITE MAN BLUES SINGER EVER✌️

    G.... W....

Glenn Wheatcroft  Ray Manzarek? Felix Calaliere?

  51. c.... ....

    Fantastic.

  52. p.... ....

    Just amazing.

  53. A.... b....

How about Love Sculpture's version ?  (Dave Edmonds)   check out "Blues Helping"  still a favourite in my collection.

  54. S.... B....

The voice......amazing, send chill through my spine!!!!!!!

    S.... B....

+Blues fan I met Eric, shook his hand, and he's like an inch taller than me!  Does that make me teeny-tiny?

    S.... B....

@retrorex Well I suppose it depends how old you are.  If you've finished growing, the short answer is yes, but size doesn't matter.  Look at Eric for example.  Great things do come in small packages and size is no guarantee of quality.

    S.... B....

+Blues fan Wow, my girlfriend will be really pleased to hear that!

    S.... B....

@retrorex He He.  It sounds like you're straying into the territory of "It's not what you've got that counts, but how you use it".  Good luck to both of you.

    S.... B....

    Sandra Blu

  55. M.... G....

    love it

  56. L.... L....

never got the fame they truly deserve  love Sky Pilot one of my most favorites

    L.... L....

People who know, know. Animals music, like all great blues and rhythm and blues, will still be played -- it still is -- when music of many others has long been forgotten.

  57. c.... e....

    GOT SOMETHING TO BURN ??!!.

  58. L.... M....

sono italiano... conosco quasi tutta la storia degli "ANIMALS" ........AMO ERIC BURDON è sempre stato il mio ispiratore.....dopo 47 anni ho rimesso su "THE FLOWERS"... riproponendo così come erano interpretati brani tipo "OUTCAST".."WE GOTTA GET OUT OF THIS PLACE" "GIN HOUSE BLUES" "I BILIEVE TO MY SOUL" e altri.....CHI AMA "THE ANIMALS" E' MIO AMICO.....

  59. G.... D....

i see your comments on every video i watch. ^^

  60. s.... g....

    AAAYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! a mi tambien.

  61. j.... v....

The band had a strong credibility in what they were doing in music business, maybe a little too strong belief that only black musicians make real and justified music... By the way, I don't disagree so very much...

  62. j.... v....

Originally this is from their second album Animal Tracks (1965) and is one of those great Ray Charles covers on the album. This is real heavy stuff in my mind, the guys were very young in those days...!

  63. I.... ....

    Eric. In love with.

  64. L.... B....

Eric's voice!!! So soulful, I love it more every time I hear it

  65. G.... ....

    Just about the same time

  66. T.... ....

    trapped in a white body...

  67. S.... ....

I'm not correcting you, just expanding on what you said. In terms of members who died, the original bass player Chas Chandler died in 1996. After the original Animals broke up he went into the role of management and managed two very distinguished acts, Jimi Hendrix and Slade. He was also one of the executive producers of Slade in Flame alongside John Steel, the Animals original drummer. After Alan Price left because of monetary discressions, they hired the brilliant organ player Dave Rowberry.

  68. g.... C....

    i had the same tought

  69. R.... ....

OMFG I ACCIDENTALLY DISLIKED THIS! SHOOT ME NOW! Luckily, I was able to 'like' it immediately, phew.

  70. E.... J....

@YoungCoelacanth So what's hilton up to these days?

  71. B.... A....

Thanks for posting this along with the history. Love this band! Brilliant!

  72. O.... ....

    Eric's voice is a Sex Bomb !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    O.... ....

He had an Animals voice.....Blues/soul Amazing delivery! and feel for that music

  73. L.... B....

@YoungCoelacanth thanks. Whats the name of the original keyboardist who played House of the Rising Sun?

  74. L.... B....

@YoungCoelacanth oh sweet thats awesome, thanks for the info. I LOVE it when the members are still alive. It really makes you think that rock has not died just yet. that was pretty random the 'the animals in the UK' reference and John Steel. But were there any members that left/joined it later on in The Animals career? at what point were they titled 'Eric Burdon and the Animals" Rather than just "The animals"?

  75. L.... B....

What members of the animals are still alive and what instruments did they play? Which are dead and what did they play?

  76. S.... ....

I believe this was terrible .

  77. m.... ....

@Putaspellonyou Yeah, everybody I've talked to acknowledges this - don't know if it's a coincidence or not but it's well known that some of Dylan's songs did borrow riffs from pre-existing songs. In any case I think Dylan's riff on Ballad of a Thin Man is an improvement on this one, it has more "bite"

  78. T.... ....

this shit is fucking ridiculous. somebody tell this guy he is pitch BLACK :)

    T.... ....

MADMAN Oh man, why do you have to go and be so nasty, Really!!! He was giving him a complement

  79. N.... K....

    Thank you so much!

  80. D.... ....

Which came first, this or Dylan's "Ballad of a Thin Man"?

  81. P.... ....

kind of sounds like bob dylan got the riff for "ballad of a thin man" from this one....hmmm. im sure im not the first to notice this...

  82. T.... M....

    Great Animals Blues!

  83. s.... ....

@mikejudgenot.. yeah yeah i knew about Ray Charles.... but DYLANS highway 61 WAS HIM CATCHING UP AND COPYING ALL THING ' British''.. and this here sounds like his'' Ballard of a thin man'......his organ drivin sound was pire Animals... like a ROLLING

  84. W.... ....

    Well i could agree

  85. s.... ....

you can see where BOB dylan stole ..Ballard of a thin man ''... WHICH KINDA EVEN SAYS THE same message about someone messing with yer

  86. L.... A....

1:18-1:25 is among the most amazing and beautiful things ever. Ever.

  87. d.... N....

my medicine ¡¡ once a day.

  88. L.... ....

I believe to my soul - the Animals are fantastic!

  89. c.... ....
