Animals, The - Brother Bill (The Last Clean Shirt) Lyrics
Well some people said it was cocaine
Well people claim it was gin
Well I know the girl and the dwell house man
That done my brother in
On my poor brother Bill
They put the last clean shirt
On my poor brother Bill
You know they found him in the back seat
Of an old abandoned Ford
When I touched the hand of my brother Bill
It was as stiff as a running board
They put the last clean shirt
They put the last clean shirt
On my poor brother Bill
The preacher said, he's gone now
Gone to another place
As they lowered him down into the ground
I felt a tear trickle down my face
They put the last clean shirt
On my poor brother Bill
They put the last clean shirt
On my poor brother Bill
The preacher said, he's gone now
Gone to another place
They lowered him down into the ground
I felt a tear trickle down my face

this is totally my old man, I can still trigger him out of deep dementia with this tune, my deepest thanks for posting this!
Lieber and Stoller and Clyde Otis get writing credit on this hit.
I saw them during their reunion tour for this album in 1977 in Worc, MA. Always loved the Animals since I first heard them doing House of the Rising Sun in 1964 on WORC 1310. This song was played on WBCN 104.1 Boston.

Finally! I've been thinking about this tune for years after hearing it only once on the radio... and finally found it again. Thanks for posting.
