Fucking CHz and Gotham/Honeycomb, and PW, AND The Painters AND Meeting of the Waters are all fucking truly amazing in their own ways. The boys have never been known to make one album sound like another, so why start now...? Painting With sounds like they got a bunch of new toys, and made something to make something. The Painters sounds like they got the hang of said toys & showed us that they can still do why we know they can do. PW is obviously not their most (un)conscious effort, but it is by no means terrible. Fuck your dickriding Anthony-Fantano-ass opinion. I'll always side with the boys, and if they put it out then they meant to.

AMAZING FREEKIN COVER.......but what sells it for me , the combination of the "flute-y" break , (at about 2:09), the vocal "Cmon Jimmy" and then the "Whooo" -- the genuine JOY in his voice. The vocal arc feels sad and desperate in the beginning then turns to JOY .... its like the Cherry on Top. A friend of mine recommended this , and I am glad he did. Yeeow! Truly Inspired, and I'm sharing it( to all my contacts)

Then I get the name listen to the og version and love both.

Listening to these guys since the Spirits they come era. They are a band that I actually unconditionally love. They have changed and grown so much. each album is like a little update on what's going on in their lives and at first Painting with sounds I Iike another attempt at pop accessibility like Merry Weather but there is always so much more with these guys.

The mixing on this and Kinda Bonkers seems way more pleasant than Painting With (and also Slasher House), keen to hear the other two tracks on the EP now!

When hearing Animal Collective was releasing new work I became ecstatic. Reading some of these comments are disappointing though. I get there will always be a critic, yet some are just spiteful.
An instrument is what an artist uses to speak another language we all love to have rung our ears. This language is art, and art is the freedom of expression. Each album Animal Collective brings new experiences communicating to you and interrupting it of your liking.
Throughout Animal Collective's discography I found many songs that paired with my in an instant. While others I went back to such as Amanita, Chocolate Girl, Recycling and various others. Too be honest there are some I rarely play, yet still found it interesting to hear what Animal Collective's new "conversations" spoke in their diverse language. Don't be afraid to go where new experiences await you and take there what you pleases you.

My bet is that AC listened to the Addison Groove rehash of this song and it inspired them to remake the song themselves.

I feel really lucky to have the new EP drop now because I just finally heard painting with yesterday for the first time.

animal collective is consistently good. say what you want about painting with, I thought it was fucking great. this newer stuff is equally fucking great. feels and MPP are legendary. I love practically all of their stuff.

I LOVED LOVED LOVED "Centipede Hz", but didn't like "Painting With". I do love at least half the new EP, though, and realize they still have surprises up their sleeve. Really it was Deakin's album that impressed me in 2016, and I can't wait for the next Animal Collective era already where hopefully they will all be working together again.

Sung Tongs and Strawberry Jam are equal masterpieces to Feels and MPP. All those albums hover around the 10/10 on _my_ scale.

To me this cover sounds almost like there is a Suicide influence although very subtle, especially the ad libs towards the end and when Avey talks to/screams at the audience when performing this live. I could be wrong of course. I know they're fans of Suicide

I cannot wait to hear goalkeeper and peacemaker!!! Are they good, those who have heard the leak??? I like bonkers and jimmy. I think in two years time people will come around on Painting With, just like they seem to have done with Centipede Hz (granted not everyone is sold on CHz still, but I personally think it's great and I think PW is great too). AC needed to make those albums imo. I've been a fan since Feels came out, and PW isn't probably in my top 2 releases from AC, but I paradoxically have probably listened to it more in a shorter amount of time than any other AC LP, maybe because they're shorter "in and out" songs. It's just a fun album! The melodies and synth textures make the album an auditory kaleidoscopic roller coaster and I love it--hocketing, buzzy bass, and all!
