Andy Williams - In The Wee Small Hours Of The Morning Lyrics

When the sun is high in the afternoon sky
You can always find something to do
But from dusk 'til dawn, as the clock ticks on
Something happens to you

In the wee small hours of the morning
While the whole wide world is fast asleep
You lie awake and think about the girl
And never, ever think of counting sheep

When your lonely heart has learned its lesson
You'd be hers if only she would call
In the wee small hours of the morning
That's the time you miss her most of all

It is simply amazing. Andy never tries to be Frank Sinatra and he avoids falling into the Johnny Mathis groove. He's just the perfect balance between the two: warm, resonant, light, ever lyrical, always musical and expressive. Andy Williams is on the Mt. Rushmore of Singers with Frank and Tony. It was a unique pleasure to grow up hearing him.

A truly masterful work. A melody and a lyric seemingly spun straight out of heaven. A timeless gem.

Growing up listening to my Dad's records from the Big Band era included a lot of Frank Sinatra!  I would sit with my Daddy for hours listening to all his favorites.  Of all his Frank Sinatra pieces, this song was & still is my favorite.  Now that I'm on my own, what an absolute joy it is for me to hear this song interpreted by Mr. Williams, MY favorite vocalist!  I never want to compare artists, especially with another loved so dearly by my Dad.  I think we both got it right.
