Quick story. I had never heard of Andrew Bird. I went to an Ani DiFranco concert in 2005 and Andrew Bird opened for her and came out to do his one man show. He came out in a suit with a violin and looked like he might be ready to do magic tricks. I was intrigued. Then he put on one of the best performances I'd ever seen. Me and my friends we literally falling all over each other in amazement. We were floored!

Then Ani DiFranco came out and I couldn't concentrate on her music at all. I wanted Andrew Bird to come back out. After a few songs, I went out to the lobby, bought the Mysterious Production of Eggs CD from the merch table and left so I could listen to it in the car.

And still...he floors me.

This song is some Beatles-Abbey Road level music imho! Told my brother that this reminds me of the beginning/history of life and then i watched the video lol. Hole Nutha Lvl. This is the type of music i want to be playing while i ascend to the next realm of existence! thx Mr Bird.

Andrew has released a fine piece of work. Is it his finest work? I have such a deep love for mysterious production of eggs. That album grabbed me immediately. But this album is growing on me the more I discover about it.

Andrew Bird is a fascinating creature and I cant believe I dont know more people who even know this guy. Hes one of the best American songwriters today and his touring show is enthralling. If yall ever get a chance to see this man play live do yourself a favor and go.

I get angry when people claim that there is no good music today because there clearly is and they aren't looking hard enough

I think the issue is interesting and good music isn't present to people as it once was. Today's mainstream has become more saturated with junk then ever before and some people probably don't realize that you have to look beyond what's being played on the radio. I personally have grown up and with a passion for discovering new music so it's hard for me to relate but I assume some people don't realize that there is so much more and if they put a little effort into looking.

The double edged sword of unlimited availability. Nostalgia also leads people to believe music was better in their time period of choice because all they really remember is the best of the best from that era. Now we have access to so much, both good and bad, which is a gift in and of itself. But because we're living in the present we haven't had the time to forget what we don't like in favor of that "rose tinted glasses" effect, we can be tricked into thinking that we're only surrounded by garbage now. In reality, we were always surrounded by garbage to some extent, we just didn't have as much access to it because we tended to hear a popular artist on a radio, buy their whole album at the record shop and call it a day. Now we can just keep clicking, of course we'll hear a lot of stuff we don't like.

Also friendly reminder that like all art, music is relatively subjective. One man's trash truly is another man's treasure. Some people find profound meaning and love the aesthetics of modern/postmodern art and music, some prefer classic symphonies and Monet, some people find enjoyment in both. The important thing is that all these people are finding beauty in something around them.
