Andrew Bird - Armchairs Lyrics
I dreamed you were a cosmonaut
of the space between our chairs
and I was a cartographer
of the tangles in your hair
it's the one that everybody knows
oh everybody knows
the song that silence sings
and this was how it goes
these looms that weave apocryphal
they're hanging from a strand
these dark and empty rooms were full
of incandescent hands
a fatal flaw
time it's a crooked bow
oh time's a crooked bow
in time you need to learn to love
the ebb just like the flow
grab hold of your bootstraps
and pull like hell
‘till gravity feels sorry for you
and lets you go
as if you lack the proper chemicals to know
the way it felt the last time you let yourself
fall this low
time
oh time
it's a crooked bow
time's a crooked bow
fifty-five and three–eighths years later
at the bottom of this gigantic crater
and armchair calls to you
yeah this armchair calls to you
and it says that
some day
we'll get back at them all
with epoxy and a pair of pliers
as ancient sea slugs begin to crawl
through the ragweed and barbed wire
you didn't write you didn't call
it didn't cross your mind at all
and through the waves
the waves of a.m. squall
you couldn't feel a thing at all
you're fifty-five and three-eighths tall
time

The intro is probably the most beautiful thing I have ever heard?!
The intro reminds me of Jeff Buckley's Lover You Should've Come Over. Don't ask me why 😰
I have a great suggestion. try listening to Bahamas' All I've ever known..
Hey just wanted to say that I've listen to this since I was a little baby and I still love it! I can imagine sitting in a rocking chair reading a book in a house in the woods. I love this so much
my friend Sherry showed me this song many years ago
This song is just so perfect!
the beginning sounds like it was played backwards.
Someday..We'll get back at them all..
With epoxy and a pair of pliers... as ancient sea slugs begin to crawl through the ragweed and barbed-wire..

Perhaps the best song ever written..?
how about, no
So... Yes?
A perfect song for sure, one of the most subtly powerful I've ever heard.
pondering that myself
Really good at the very least. My favorite Andrew bird song.
I always imagine this song being played like a soundtrack as you drive down an empty bridge or highway in the middle of the night with dozens of yellow-gold street lights casting moving shadows through your car as you contemplate the girl you're leaving behind you.
@ZachTheCommie this hit me so hard dude.
It's perfect.
probably my favorite from bird
How the heck do people dislike this? I don't get it.
Tone deaf maybe?
No idea, it's prog pop at its best
The original comment is gone, but he probably was talking about ObviouslyJesus as I'm pretty sure he linked the song at one point.
you idiot, he is saying that it is so good "jesus" sent him, so stfu, and read beyond the text
Yikes.. a bit angry are we?
No funny comments for you here ;)
I dislike videos I love because the comments are hilarious.
my sister love's this song!
One person just doesn't get it.
Love the strings here in the beginning...good sensuous patterns there. good song.this could be called a masterpiece.

Marvelous. Simply a work of art. He's the Mozart o today's generation:)
No he isn't, shut the fuck up and take a music lit class.
Jesus sent me.
Tell him hi for me
This song moves me. i almost cry everytime i hear it.. and i dont know why.. it reminds me of everything and nothing all at the same time.
terri Bebber same here
Why is this song so good?
Not nearly enough views for one of the best songs from one of the best albums of the last 10 years.
"grab hold of your bootstraps and pull like hell" is some of the best advice I have ever gotten. it calms me down and pushes me forward when the world seems to be falling apart.
One of my favorite songs of all time... simply powerful.
