Anderson, Lynn - Snowbird Lyrics

Beneath this snowy mantle cold and clean
The unborn grass lies waiting for its coat to turn to green
The snowbird sings a song he always sings
And speaks to me of flowers that will bloom again in spring

When I was young my heart was young then too
Anything that it would tell me, that's the thing that I would do
But now I feel such emptiness within
For the thing that I want most in life is the thing I can't win

Spread your wings and fly away
And take the snow back with you
Where it came from on that day
The one I love forever is untrue
And if I could, you know that I would
Fly away with you

The breeze along the river seems to say
That he'll only break my heart again, should I decide to stay
So little snowbird take me with you when you go
To that land of gentle breezes where the peaceful waters flow

Spread your tiny wings and fly away
And take the snow back with you
Where it came from on that day
The one I love forever is untrue
And if I could, you know that I would
Fly away with you

Lynn Anderson owns this song. What a voice.

  3. e.... l....

Oh, I miss music like that!

  4. C.... ....

She should have called the song “snowturd” being it’s so shitty.

  5. D.... B....

Love this version. Sadly when she recorded this song, she said she was so drunk that she couldn't remember who the musicians were, where she recorded it, or what day it even was.

    D.... B....

Fuck off, idiot. Looks like you should be at a Weight Watchers meeting rather than making up lies on YouTube about someone far more successful than you'll ever be at anything in your pathetic life. Fat fucker.

  6. K.... J....

    Elvis sang this too

  7. B.... B....

    Very beautifully done.....

Anne Murray's version is great as is this one.I keep copies of both. Depending on my mood will depend which one I like best at that time. Both memorable artists.

  14. T.... F....

with most songs I like lynn's version over other singers versions, but not this one.  anne's version is superior to this one.

    T.... F....

I think Lynn's performance on this song is superb!

    T.... F....

Nah ... Lynn Anderson's version is far superior.

  15. L.... A....

God, I was so drunk when I recorded this I cannot even remember where I was or who the musicians were. I do remember waking up in a ditch soiled and rolling around in my own feces.

    L.... A....

@Lynn Anderson how classy of you

    L.... A....

@mrlafayette1964 there's dark moments in everyone's life that's not always picture perfect and, I'm not going to lie and say mine was.

    L.... A....

Lynn, if it's REALLY you, tell me, were you wearing panties when you woke up rolling around in that ditch?

  16. T.... ....

    Anne Murray or nothing !

    T.... ....

Condemn not lest ye be condemned.

    T.... ....

Jerry Vale, Loretta Lynn sing it very good, too!

  17. B.... ....

I still want to know who the guitarist was on this version. Puts it Miles Beyond Anne Murray's version, IMO.

as duas versões,tanto de lynn anderson e anne murray são lindas, porém nada é comparável a Elvis, perdoe minha opinião os fãs das duas encantadoras cantoras.

  19. p.... ....

Sounds like your dad was a sweet man. I too, have memories of my dad with this song when we fished in Canada. He passed away also. Here is LOVE to them both, from both of us!

  20. t.... c....

Anne will forever own this tune by I have to admit that this girl does it justice!

  21. E.... T....

lynn anderson the best female country singer for me,

  22. l.... a....

QUE VOZ TAN HERMOSA, ME GUSTARÍA ESCUCHAR EN LA VOZ DE ESTA ARTISTA LA CANCION " HONEY I MISS YOU ". DESDE QUE LA ESCUCHÉ EN UNA CINTA DE CASSETTE HACE YA VEINTE AÑOS ME GUSTÓ LA VOZ DE ESTA MUY, CLARO QUE LA CANCIÓN ME AGRADÓ MUCHISIMO QUE LA TENGO COMO UNA DE MIS FAVORITAS.

  23. D.... G....

What ever happened to her, Lynn Anderson was so great!

    D.... G....

Daniel Gibson Jr Sadly, a heart attack took her from us two years ago, on July 30, 2015. I will miss her until I see her again in Heaven!

    D.... G....

She died July 30, 2015 RIP Lynn.

  24. l.... ....

There is nothing the least bit monotone about Lynn Anderson's voice!!! Listen to her sing "Cry," "Keep Me In Mind," and of course, her signature song, "Rose Garden"!

  25. m.... ....

this is good, but Anne Murray's version is the best :)

  26. P.... ....

You've obviously never heard Catherine MacLellan sing it. Catherine has obviously listened to the words and realizes that it's a very sad song. "But now I feel such emptiness within, For the thing that I want most in life's the thing that I can't win." Don't sing it like a cheerful ditty, even if Gene did.

  27. b.... ....

no matter who sings this song its a great song tks for posting

  28. B.... S....

Sorry Lynn, you don't do this song justice. In fact no one does except Ann Murray.

  29. I.... ....

As a kid I remember my Mom had this album and would play it nearly every weekend when she cleaned the house. Every song on this album (Rose Garden) is excellent. Great memories!

  30. m.... ....

Ahhhh...Thanks for adding this version. My late dad played this as I was growing up. This is fantastic
