Anderson, Jon - And You And I Lyrics

A man conceived a moment's answers to the dream
Staying the flowers daily, sensing all the themes
As a foundation left to create the spiral aim
A movement regained and regarded both the same
All complete in the sight of seeds of life with you

Changed only for a sight the sound, the space agreed
Between the picture of time behind the face of need
Coming quickly to terms of all expression laid
Emotion revealed as the ocean maid
All complete in the sight of seeds of life with you

Oh, coins and crosses never know their fruitless worth
Cords are broken locked inside the mother earth
They won't hide, they won't tell you
Watching the world, watching all of the world
Watching us go by

And you and I climb over the sea to the valley
And you and I reached out for reasons to call

This particular song never gets old for those of us who grew up with it. It is simply uplifting and I just seem to be transported to a better place when I hear it. I am 66 years old and Yes still can make me feel like a teenager all over again and optimistic about the world we live in.

  8. S.... S....

Ah! The way they extend the Eclipse section! Amaaazing!! That we can all share this moment is enough to make one keep on keeping on.

I have been enjoying Yes, since the 70’s... And I started tearing up, whilst listening to the concert in it’s entirety... I’m not sure if it was because of the amazing music being played, Or; the fact that the Symphony backing them up, was so fortunate to be on stage, with such an iconic group

  14. 4.... ....

If I had to pick only one guitar solo to listen to for the rest of my life it would the steel guitar solo on this song ! Everything about this performance is "en pointe"

  15. B.... D....

Complete joy and brilliance in this band and their music.

  16. R.... S....

    Rip Chris Squire ! 🙏🏼

  17. F.... ....

LOTS OF ROCK AND ESPECIALLY NEW WAVE MUSIC IS FILLED WITH SUBLIMINAL MESSAGES AND PROPHECY FROM GOD/CHRIST AIMED AT THE DEVIL AND THE FALLEN ANGELS AND ALL WHO FOLLOW THEM. BLACK SABBATH'S "WAR PIGS" IS A GREAT EXAMPLE OF GOD/CHRIST'S WORK. THIS SONG AND THE MANNER OF WHICH IT IS WRITTEN IN, SCREAMS THE ALMIGHTY GOD WHO IS CHRIST.
Acts 2:17-21 New King James Version (NKJV)
17 ‘And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God,
    That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh;
Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
Your young men shall see visions,
Your old men shall dream dreams.
18 And on My menservants and on My maidservants
    I will pour out My Spirit in those days;
    And they shall prophesy.
19 I will show wonders in heaven above
And signs in the earth beneath:
Blood and fire and vapor of smoke.
20 The sun shall be turned into darkness,
    And the moon into blood,
Before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord.
21 And it shall come to pass
That whoever calls on the name of the Lord
    Shall be saved.’

  19. V.... E....

YES, one of the great one.

  20. B.... B....

Pretty incredible stuff. Take that millennials. I wish they would stick to the original time in the Ecplise reprise. But hey, gotta try new things after all these years.

  21. J.... R....

Steve Howe is a Genius, Maestro, Teacher and a great guitar player

  22. J.... R....

Holy moly, the singer voice it's amazing, the guitar player it's a maestro, and the bass player it's just awesome. And watch how wonderful the drummer passionate plays his instrument. In less words: Yes

  23. L.... S....

    Nobady list the symphonics

  24. W.... I....

    Genius level rock music.

  25. L.... C....

ANDERSON HOWE SQUIRE WAKEMAN BRUFORD ...un legado unico por los siglos de los siglos ...hacia la eternidad

  26. O.... ....

It doesn't get much better than this. It's a masterpiece. They absolutely got better over time. If I could go back in time I'd be at this concert.

  27. J.... M....

I don't really know what the words mean but i love the music and it's good enough for me.

  28. J.... S....

I have all of this on CD but come to read how others feel about the awesomeness of Yes. I am not surprised by the reactions and I feel the same way. The most musical band ever. Precise, full of feeling, and inspiring. Peace.

  29. D.... W....

A musician friend of mine said he went to see Yes years and years ago and they basically stood there throughout the whole show and it was boring. Since that statement I’ve often wondered if my so-called musician friend had any sense of logic in his soul. Jon Anderson is one of those incredible down to earth peace loving individuals who are a gift from heaven. If you could go to a Yes show and and be bored by 5 musicians playing great music your not getting real music.

    D.... W....

    Your friend's a tw@.

  30. i.... ....

This is the only song I’ve ever cried to

  31. R.... M....

Amazing, but—gee, I wonder whose idea the disturbingly bad 3d animations were? 10 bucks Jon pitched that to Wakey before they started rehearsals, and that's the real reason he skipped out on the project.

  32. P.... H....

aussi spatial et parfait que l'original en studio...

  33. V.... L....

One of the best musical videos on youtube

  34. S.... C....

James Gunn needs to use the original version in Guardians Vol 3 as Peter searches for Gamora.

  35. M.... G....

I have loved this group, their incredible compostions and performances forever. First heard 'And You and I' in college and saw them for the Relayer tour in 1977. What stands out to me is that Jon Anderson's voice is still as sharp and clear as it was way back then. And as a guitar player having played in bands since I was a teen, Steve Howe playing is beyond words along with his work on the pedal steel guitar. Wow, wow and wow to the whole band. Some great things never die.

  36. P.... X....

    ❤️❤️❤️❤️

  37. f.... ....

Of course it's brilliant. Silly me never bothered with watching it before because its not their earlier recordings and its done with an orchestra. Good on you Jon, spreading so much love even the robots are infected. :)

  38. R.... V....

yeah knot an howl of musicians can do that

  39. R.... R....

    Speciaal voor Lau ❤

  40. d.... l....

I saw Yes in 1976 at the Salt Palace in Salt Lake City ...Todd Rundgren was the opening act ... The concert cost ten dollars ... What an amazing concert ... Those were the days

  41. J.... G....

  43. T.... M....

    Such a magnificently, beautiful song.

  44. s.... ....

  45. G.... R....

A primeira é vez que escutei foi em 1976 e ainda curto escutar o cd close to the edge. De ponta á ponta é o melhor LP produzido!

  55. I.... M....

Jon, I literally lover you. I wish I was your child.

  56. T.... A....

Damn , I can't find those lush sounds on my Casio Piano . Is there an Einstein of Music out there ? Or a John Nash , Texas Mathematian. Song and Singer. Eternal Love Sublime. The Orchestra and Individual Band Musical Members . Outrageous Colour Beautiful.

  57. F.... L....

VERY GOOD!!! I'VE liked this song ever since I listened to YESONGS, 1972/3!

  58. e.... ....

This was one amazing tour - the orchestra added to the beauty, majesty and drama of this fantastic song! One of my favorite versions!❤️

    e.... ....

I had nothing but hostility against all drummers who attempted this song who weren't Bruford, so this is the first time ever I accepted it, and it feels better than sex (I would imagine). It's a joke without Bruford, but it can still be a fun ride!!

  59. r.... ....

    Tears !

  60. N.... V....

And ladies n gentlemen, the group that made Prog a wholly different world, YES. It don't get better than this.

  61. M.... P....

We have been so privileged to have such artists as Yes, ELP, Pink Floyd and others to write the soundtracks of our lives.

    M.... P....

I introduce this to the next generation as often as possible. Do music a favor and give this to your kids grandkids and great grandkids. Music will thank you for it. I have yet to find anyone that doesnt love this.

  74. D.... G....

    Uniquely Steve Howe.....Sublime Rendition

  75. b.... ....

What a great song everyone has a great time playing obviously🌺💫 I've been a big fan of such beautiful music of yes they are spectacular🦢

  76. D.... ....

These guys are amazing. I believe Steve Howe lives in a mushroom shaped cottage in an old growth forest.

  77. M.... M....

    Some things never get old.

  78. D.... S....

How many vocalists do you know who can pull this kind of thing off 40 years later?  AMAZING.   I love the clarity and clever beauty of Steve Howe's guitar playing, and as a bass player I will miss Chris Squire for the rest of my life.   Wakeman was invited on this tour and couldn't make it due to scheduling but Tom and the orchestra do yeoman's service.  Alan White is the perfect rock drummer for this band.  This ensemble was magic.

  79. D.... S....

Love this version, one of my favorite Yes songs of all time;  would have rather seen the boys playing instead of that wacky CGI

  80. G.... R....

Perfect! Well done boys! Giving me pleasure and comfort for 40+ years. You may never ever be duplicated.

  81. E.... E....

My favorite band of all time.

  82. r.... w....

    Perfection...

  83. M.... R....

Beautiful, a real tear-jerker. The 12-string parts I can play pretty darn well. The slide guitar parts... gonna take a lot more work. And so worth the effort.

  84. M.... G....

Could have done without the Oscar statuettes.

  85. i.... a....

The guitar intro is just magic

  86. e.... r....

    Perfect!

  87. B.... ....

i was lucky enough to see Yes at MSG in 1979 in the 7th row with the rotating stage. I was a stupid High School kid then and didn't realize how lucky I was to see Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman, Squire and Howe at the time. Wish I could go back and see that show again.

  88. J.... B....

    What can I say

  89. F.... P....

    Basic but nice computer animation

  90. M.... J....

I love this song so much...and when it gets to the 7-minute mark, it becomes an Epic Masterpiece!

  91. J.... M....

    Quelle voix,John...JM

  92. M.... O....

I wish they'd get rid of the stupid animation and let us see these guys play.

  93. m.... ....

Such stirring music. I can feel this in my chest.

    m.... ....

And how does someone write music like this! Any song I would write would consist of just three chords:G C D.

  94. G.... T....

Jon Anderson and his perfect vocals... Amazing!

  95. R.... M....

    Yes to YES!

  96. B.... D....

    My goodness, I miss Chris

  97. S.... F....

Please, please, please..... repost without the graphics!

  98. B.... S....

Good Lord they never sound bad, I've seen YES like over a half dozen times at every incarnation and they are always spot on.
Anderson is spot on along with the rest of the perfectionist, Howe, Chris, Wakeman (Absent Bummer) and White..
The best yes concert i saw was 2002 at a little unknown no longer open 650 seat Polo Solara Amphitheater in Santa Fe, NM.
One of the most Magical outdoor venues of Yes I ever have seen complete with electrical storm that fit the concert perfectly.
Yes has been my #1 band since the day i was turned onto Fragile when it first came out.
And you and I has always reminded me of Growing up in the 70's as a teen.
They will play it at my funeral as it's just a positive song.
One of the best Prog bands of my lifetime next to Emerson Lake and Palmer and early Genesis just to begin with.
Although Floyd is not considered PROG Floyd is next to YES as my #1 best.
I not fear death as it's just the beginning and as long as we love, give and care we will always be on a journey to the light.

I think I know where Star Trek Discovery got it's Red Angel concept from.
