I see comments asking why he hasn't blown up. And I think the answer is very simple:

His work is too derivative, and it lacks image. [a]nders brings nothing new to the table. He is not "underrated". He is rated right where he belongs.

Sure, he can sing.
(Who ever denies that is either deaf or blindly hating.) He has a solid, good voice, but that is also where it ends.

Had this song come out pre-Weeknd era, people would've been raving. But perhaps this song would not even have existed pre-Weeknd era. What I'm trying to say is that anders influences are too transparent. I hear a lot of artists in anders, or artists anders wants to sound like, and it makes him less memorable; it blurs his image and makes him indistinguishable from the next guy.

(btw, be free to downvote as much as y'all want, but if you deny that what I'm saying is truth, especially if you are another artist in a similar lane as anders, then you are doing yourself a disservice.)

I think people blow up off two things: Either the song is extremely derivative and it sounds almost completely identical to another hit song, or it is extremely original. The latter is harder to create, obviously.

Does anders have talent? Fuck, yes. But the lane he's in is so saturated with a thousand Bryston Tillers, Weeknds, and plenty of other RnB singers with reverb on their vocals that him standing out is practically impossible.

You already have an audience, but I think this audience has a limit to how much it can expand. Fuck everything else and go all in. Do some shit that'll make people divisive; make people hate you and love you at the same time. Make them think "fuck, what a douche" and "fuck, it lit tho" at the same god damn time. Fuck people up so they don't know what box to put you in; make them debate your shit in barber shops coz they can't figure you out yet. Go batshit weird and make some catchy shit with that great voice of yours. Create a lane so distinctly yours that when another artists even jacks half your style, people'll jump in on that bish on Twitter and rat him or her out on your behalf before you can even say a word.

All this is coming from another recording artist with not even half your clout, tho. But i'll get there.
