ok I get the overall meaning but what does the video mean? idk what the web/wire frames are/what they mean by them...

The way I perceived it was the webs or whatever they are were kinda forcing them to keep playing, making it less and less enjoyable for them as the video went on. That fits with the overall lyrical theme as well

This is such a haunting song for their last album. I guess they've always had songs like this, but there's just something about this one that is so final and definite that it leaves little room for a more hopeful melody. When you look at Godspeed and then look at this, this song is so much more mellow and feels like the end of an era. It's sad that this is the end. Outside of Emery, there aren't many good bands left out there. Most of the bands abandoned what made them good in the first, and as far as I'm concerned, Anberlin was the only band to successfully carry out a dramatic stylistic shift. After all, bands like Emery and House of Heroes are relatively the same, while bands like Fall Out Boy and Relient K are pretty terrible now.

Falling Up had a similar successful style change, I think (Even though they're also technically broken up now)

There are still many good bands around though. You just have to look around a little :)

What an under-appreciated and under-loved song. Gosh, 2014 was awesome for me. This album and this song were my soundtrack for that year of my life. Such nostalgia now that I listen to this haunting track. Yes, you do need to get used to it. But once you do, you realize how great this song really is...

Basically this song says everything I thought I felt for someone I never met personally...

I don't really see how the video ties in to the message behind the lyrics. Not saying that either the video or the song is bad, they're great actually, but what I got out of the lyrics was that the guy dreams of a perfect woman. "Close my eyes and we're together" and he feels so close to her, but in the back of his mind, he knows it's all imaginary. But he also feels that every day, he gets closer to meeting her in real life "A little bit closer to finding the real you; a little bit closer, to finding the truth."

I don't know, perhaps you're right. He says "a stronger men have answered"; I think that what he is saying is he has met the "woman of his dreams" However she's not religious? Or something like that (idk) "right now you're over there in the social club state" I think she belongs to a completely different world, but he still wants to be with her "would you stay with me, here in my dreams if I promised you this heaven?" idk it's an idea

Personally I think it's about the person in love with someone who has passed on. I believe that when he says the social club state or her other worldly state he is referring to the fact that she is no longer of this earth. And the would you stay with me here in my dreams refers to him only seeing her in his dreams now and he wants her to stay and wishes she would but she can't as its a dream. Also the little bit closer to knowing/loving/touching you and other lines are what really makes me believe this as every day we're all a little closer to death and if there is an afterlife (please let's not make this a religious debate) then every day he was closer to death he would be closer to her. That's just my take on the song. The beauty of songs like this though, is that there is no "right" way to interpret them.

+thelegobrain Well yes it's an after life. Duh.  Also, since the group *is* comprised of Christians (how many not sure, maybe all maybe not) they obviously believe in one.  Therefore perhaps you are most correct.

As I recall they were all Christians. So I would agree they believe in an afterlife. And as for me being correct? I don't know. Maybe lol. I was just sharing my take on the song. It's always interesting to read other's interpretations of songs like these. I'm glad I got to see this band live one last time. I was at the St. Louis Mo. concert which was awesome, because it was a smaller one and I was able to get about 5 feet from the stage. It's sad to see the band end but I can understand why they are ending. They want to live their lives and I can't blame them for that. I could be wrong but weren't they close to averaging almost 240 performances a year? I think I remember reading that. If that is true that's a LOT. That would have been exhausting.

Man, l can't believe these guys are retiring. Such a fantastic ride. Cities and NTFP are in my top 10 favourite albums. Lowborn is amazing quality too. Glad they're going out on such a high. You shall be missed Stephen and the rest of the guys.
