The perfect doom album!

Well, this doesn't have much in common with Doom, only the slow songs(with are in general pretty different), and the depressive lyrics(with are not as usual in Doom as they are in this band). It's another genre inspired by Doom.

ancient Anathema so sweet, but now we're haven't something like that... just turn you look into Ocean of Sorrow. just find it, there are descendant to this music

Well, I wouldn't call that Doom Metal... but it's okay. Doom Metal is Black Sabbath, Pentagram, The Obsessed, Saint Vitus, but since I can't find a better definition to this band this will serve.

It's death-doom metal (or just second vawe of doom metal) Death metal vocals, drumming and heavy guitar tones combined with slower tempos and gloomy atmosfere. Band you have metioned are first vawe doom metal, they of course had no death metal influence since death metal started developing at late eighties.

Honestly this is my least fav album of their doom metal era. I really don't like vinnie's vocals here, he sounds like he's just mimmicking Darren White (who would have been a better match on this, if it wasn't for the politics within the band) But it probably gave him the confidence to develop his style on eternity, alt 4 and judgement all of which I adore. A lot of this album was written while recording, so I can't fault it too much. It's still a great album with a great atmosphere.

hail Anathema and hail doom metal. the band is pride of Liverpool and I know they've moved on to mainstream but you know something, they're still awesome.
