This song has the perfect, indescribable emotion to it. I dunno what to call it... I guess, some kind of wistful melancholy. It's this sad emotion that gives off this sense of wonder.

i'm dutch and i know its our  Anneke van Giersbergen that has the vocals in anathema. cheers ;)

Rebecca Wilson does session vocals on this one. The Silent Enigma is from '95 after all and they didn't work with Anneke until '10 or '11 I believe.

Will you please humor a language phonetics query? Would her name be pronounced 'AH-ne-ke fon HEERs-behr-gen'? I'm new to studying German and I've noticed some similar spellings; very different pronunciations (of course). Thank you Dieuwertje.

Man, this is a beautiful paradox : " Thumbs up if you are forever alone..." 67 persons thumb up, agree with you, therefore form a group out of their loneliness, they agree on beeing forever alone and this result on the end of this condition.

@TheNext2nill Hello, yes it is true that in this modern world money overcomes loneliness, but one must never loose hope, She is out there somewhere. I've became empty and forever alone after a six and a half years relationship, but now after almost one and a half year that she left me i start to feel alive sometimes, even tho something died in me with her gone. One must never loose hope, one must accept being alone and embrace loneliness. We are damaged, but the they we heal will come sometime !

one after the other and I stay amazed at the sheer beauty !!!

This song always sends me to the past, it's like I fall in a dream and I remember a past life. Something similar happens with the image of the cd. Anathema has something that no one else can bring...

This always remained my least favorite Anathema CD until some of the newer stuff...I still think the album is a bit clumsy and rushed (I read an interview that said most of it was written in the studio) but I think it's a cool album nonetheless...this song reminds me a lot of older Love Spirals Downwards

@ulverX couldnt agree more, this is without doubt one of the most original, and well built albums of all time, whatever genre, pity 28000 people have seen this and 100m everything the x factor produces, i guess were all luckier than them :O)

This isn't music made by ordinary people...doesn't matter how I feel or where I am, it takes me to a place where I can rest for 4:22. Then I repeat it over and over again, denying my retur to this world of shattered dreams.

this song is absolutely brilliant! the low notes (i dunno what they're called in english...but you know what i mean, the minor notes, the ones that sound so sinister) and the woman's singing give you such a strange feeling of anxiety and a bit of fear of the unknown...amazing. Anathema is my favourite band on this planet.
