Was this before or after Amy Grant crossed over to pop music? Some say it was before, others after. Which is accurate? Did she cross over in 1985 or 1991?

In my list of the most underrated songs of all time, this is easily in the top 10.

Halfway through this song. Bar 38 was the seminal moment I believe. Once the song ended a lipreader reported she said "eggy-weggs - I wanna... smash 'em"

This song was released in 1988. Two years *earlier* , Amy did a duet with Peter Cetera called "The Next Time I Fall" (1986). :-)

Then why do they say she crossed over in 1985 when it was actually 1991 and all her albums before 1991 are CCM albums?

I'm guessing it depends on which Christian magazine executive that made that decision. Heart in Motion was the"true crossover album officially"

She had several crossover hits before the 'Heart In Motion' LP came out in 1991.

Religion takes too much work....Being spiritual is much closer to what God and Jesus show us to be. We were never given labels on what denomination/church to follow, we were just asked to follow, period. I think too much time is wasted by people that clannishly go to church, and "look the part", just to sit there and quietly judge others, based on a look or whatever isn't liked. I have one question:Why even bother going to church, if that's all you're doing? What would God or Jesus say to you? I'm not one to judge, because I have been in many shoes that some wouldn't and couldn't fathom. I try to love all (and forgive when transgressed, after all, it's what we're asked to do). I see God as wonderful, and good, and when we're having a hard time in life, we judge others, and lose sight of God, forgetting His forceful push against Satan. We are the ONLY flawed thing on this planet, and we are constantly reminded of that.

Is it just me or does Vevo find a way to give classics like this (which is a musical masterpiece) audio quality that is equivalent to the 9" tv set my mom had in the kitchen in the 1980's? C'mon, Vevo...make it sound like I'm listening to it on a high end stereo!

When one gets older we all have list of songs which we again and again throughout he years listen to. This song for sure is one of them. Like the song from Mister Mister, Broken Wings". Both spiritual and incredibly well done. To almost perfection. When I saw this video for the first time I was a young man and found her not only beautiful in looks (and she is still a very warm and attractive personality), but the purity in this song reaches out to you. Like our age, good songs, books etc, there are many filters if presented a classic piece of work. This song shows all the attributes to understand and feel in various levels, being for religion, being for human kind or where it all starts. Being kind to the next person beginning from yourself. I am not a religious person but love the idea that there is a meaning if one is open for it. And songs like this can open you up. Thanks for this gift.

I had no idea as a child listening to my mom spin this record that Amy is such a legendary beauty. And as an audiophile and music junkie now, I'm blown away by the quality of the production on this song. And you know she's really singing, no auto tune here.

Hands down my favourite Amy Grant song....simply brilliant from start to finish.

I was born in '88 and for the first few years of my life, Amy Grant was my favorite singer ever! After having not hearing her for many years, I found her greatest hits album and got it and was surprised I knew nearly every song on the record, even though I wouldn't have thought that but apparently my subconscious still retained most of those early impressions from listening to her. This is one of my favorites, and Find a Way. As a kid, my favorite was probably Baby, Baby.

@campbell bailey not sure of the album but in the UK this was track 2 of the baby baby single, I had no idea Amy was Christian at the time until I heard Lead me on . This is actually the first time I've seen the video as at the time in the 90's YouTube wasn't around !
