When you think about it Töck (Loki) is in the right since, Thor slaughtered the Jötun, Loki's kin, and Thor wants Balder back, so it makes sense for Töck (still Loki) to refuse to free Balder.

Its not just Thor who wanted Balder back. Everybody did except Loke, and so after Hel has told the messanger(forgot his name) to ask everyone if they actually want Balder to come back, there was only one creature who didn't - Tuck or Loke. Balder was pretty much the God who everyone liked unlike say Thor or Odin. He was the sun of all the realms(not literally of course) and that's one of the events that led to Ragnarok - his death.

@Padan Fain actually that last r is not pronounced. Surtr is pronounced as Surt, just as Heimr (home) is pronounced Heim. Lusalfheimr, Muspelheimr, Nifilheimr, Baldr, Hodr.

There is some contention that after Loki devoured Gulveig’s heart and was corrupted, his name was changed to Loke or Lopt. Much like Odin, Loki also has had several names and identities too.

But what about the origin of germanic languages? Here its loki too, but only if you stick to the skandinavian side, otherwise you change names completly (eg: Tyr -> Saxlot)

Loki, Loke, Lopt , Loge, Logá.. same name, different sources. Remember, its a very old religion and before settling the far north, they were all within the same tribes. (swabi, menappi, saxon, gauti).. this goes way back to 500+ BC) Some sources were maintained, some forgotten.

actually im pretty sure its about teaching people that the fool thinks he is wise but the wise man knows hes a fool because the first song is about tricking the listener into thinking they should spend their talents helping a family member and the second one is making them realize how ignorant they are and what a god damn waste that would be.
