Ambrosia - For Openers (Welcome Home) Lyrics
Ain't nobody out there, just me and you
It's one on one, just we two
I got somethin' like a heartbeat
Only you control
And I'm up as far as I can bear to go
This is the road so welcome home
Where nothing real abounds
There is no reason we must wait
Let's take these pleasures now
Now...
Ain't nobody out there gonna disagree
We're all hiding something under lock 'n' key
You don't like it but you just can't stop
We'll undo all that's been done to you tonight
This is the place it all begins
There's no time to back down
There is no reason to pretend
Just take these pleasures now
Now...

Ambrosia For Openers (Welcome Home) Comments
Incredible song.
who would buy their old record album Road Island, like actual record?
I haven't forgotten it
One of their best albums.
Nectar of the Gods - Ambrosia!
Does anyone out there know if there is any video of Ambrosia performing this? In studio or concert maybe?
song gives me chills every time. awesome tune. totally underrated and unknown.
A masterpiece in it's own right and an extremely overlooked and underrated album.
This is my favorite album they made. Love this opening track...very heavy sound.
I think that I'll post Ice Age since I don't see that one around either!
Seriously man, thanks for uploading this, have this one on vinyl and all my vinyl's sitting in the garage...likely all warped by now :(
Ambrosia must have been listening to Pink Floyd, the sound effects at the beginning and the Floyd atmospherics here. On their debut they had Alan Parsons (engineer of Atom Heart Mother and Dark Side of the Moon) produce. On the 1982 Road Island album, they had James Guthrie (who had co-produced and engineered The Wall) produce and engineer. Rock radio should have played this kick ass track!
@TJRROCKSPONGE AOR stations did play it back in the day. It peaked at #44 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock tracks chart (source: All Music Guide.) But you are correct; should have gotten more spins. And the song indeed rocks!
Yeah, FM radio really took a dive after its heyday in the early 70s, syndication was the beginning of the end, "program managers" deciding that 3½ minutes was the max length a song could be, *really* fucked things up, *especially* for prog stuff. I think this one's 5½ minute playing time got it less airplay than it should've gotten, and *iceage*, arguably the best tune on the album, clocked in at a little over 7 minutes. The average gum snapper doesn't have an attention span that long...and *that's* more or less the "target demographic" anymore, sad really.
remember getting this in 82... loved the album...
@bucky468 The song not only peaked at #44, it debuted there (week of 5/29/1982). From there, the next week it slid into the 50s an then was outta there. Such a shame the album couldn't get traction. I don't think it was ever really promoted.
TJRROCKSPONGE They actually played Alan Parsons tales of the unexpected First album
80's AOR...gotta love it! This, "Life Beyond L.A." (title track, 1978) and "Ready" from "One Eighty" (1980) should be more than enough proof that Ambrosia was more than just a pop/soft rock group. A lost classic that most classic rock radio stations will likely NEVER touch, which is a damned shame. Most CR stations will associate them to their radio friendly hits "How Much I Feel", "You're The Only Woman (You and I)", and "Biggest Part of Me". Ambrosia was more than that. They were album rock back in the day.
Me trae buenos recuerdos de mi adolescencia.
amo este tema desde que encontre este vinilo
Bad ass!
