Ambrosia - Drink Of Water Lyrics
Someone talks about a road
At the end find life's gold
I went out to get a drink of water
But I saw an ocean far away
Foolishly I turned my head the other way
Do you like where you're livin' at?
I'm not happy inside
You could build a golden house
Yeah but still I'm sad inside
I set out on a long and lonely journey
And travelled through some strange and distant lands
And many times I thought I'd found life's meaning
Do you like where you're livin' at?
I'm not happy inside
You could build a golden house
And still I'm sad inside
One summer storm, I'm waitin' for the sun
One summer storm, I've waited so long
Waited so long Yeahhhhhhhh!
In our lives, we've all drank of the water
Heard the ocean callin' out our names
Some will seek and find their life's meaning
And some will turn their heads the other way...

A great first album. Came out when I was in 12th grade. Still listen to it.
93/93...
playlist stops at "93." 😋
This album is the apex of the genre of pop/rock/progressive music all bunched up in one place. The music, songwriting, engineering, creativity, etc ect are all here and never to be repeated again. I consider this the top of the top albums ever. Not one dud on this record......the only complaint is that we didn't capture MORE of this magical moment in time.
AMAZING

Beautiful... 3:50
Its like wanting a drink of water but not being sure youll ever get it
the 1st album is great, after that they pretty much suck!
They went from progressive to regressive commercial.
Mikel Hilton Say what? Their second album is just as good.
Nah.....the magic was lost after the debut, but the second album is still great and some moments on LA as well.
2nd album is equal or better. Dance with me George is epic!
This track is something... Thank you very much for sharing.

Nice Nice very Nice is very good.
"Virgin vinyl"? As opposed to what - "experienced vinyl?"
As opposed to recycled vinyl which is melted down and reused. Old audiophile "experts' claimed recycled vinyl was not as good as "virgin" vinyl, and resulted in LPs which had more distortion, less channel separation, etc.

The thinkin' man's rock and roll.......great powerful song.
Oh, that Hammond B3... Awesome.
A mbrosia wasWESOME !!!!!
Yes - You can definitely hear Alan Parson's guidance in this - very Pink Floyd, with the massive Hammond organ, the Gilmore-eaque Guitar solos, the backing choir, but the lead vocals! - Jesus! Pink Floyd NEVER had vocals this powerful, and penetrating! David pack really delivered on this recording! SUPERB!
+Mark Darnell David Pack?
+Mark Darnell Joe Puerta is the lead singer here.
He's on Facebook - David Pack. Was in my '60s group, but left.
They are all amazing but never got enough credit for it!!
I use to listen to these guys when I was in Jr High.
Every time I hear this collection I am drawn to them more and more. Ambrosia is just so intelligent and touching on so many levels. If you want peace, calm and introspection listen to this album . Come home from a hard day at work, kick your shoes off, kick back in your favorite chair and give a listen , you will not be sorry
5 Star entertainers
These men are 5 Star Entertainers AND worth listening every time you get the opportunity
@Ramona Maintanis You have great taste in good music.. So mellow and introspective.
I went out to get a drink of water ,,,,and low and behold I found you my darling....I love your ways and your intelligence my man .....you appreciate the music I like and love so much .....we are so much like each other connected by our inner conscience
@Ramona Maintanis You are my soul mate my darling girl...
Not much I can say that hasn't been said here. Beautiful piece of music, in arrangement, lyric and production. Agreed, that no surprise Alan Parsons produced.
Of course, I had to put the whole album in my Ambrosia playlist! Haven't heard the whole thing since college, back in the day! Thanks for uploading!
Brilliant! An absolute masterpiece from start to finish!
Very underrated LP. Of course Alan Parsons is involved. Sheer Genius!
I have to share here a bit. I am convinced that Aris is responsible for much of the progressive knowledge and followings here in GR. Been a native of this town most of my 53 years and knew OF this heralded album, but could never figure out who it was until much later when I picked up "Life Beyond LA" a few years ago which lead me to find this gem which I consider one of the top 10 albums EVER produced. I had been looking at bands that I heard on WLAV like Marillion, Camel, The Strawbs etc for that "heralded" progressive band that I am sure Aris was responsible for airing for the most part. My suspicions are now validated, lol That organ on this song will absolutely take pics off the walls on a good system like my old Sansui...love this album!
If the young would only listen to music that had purpose like this...Truly classic for centuries to come
some will seek and find their life's meaning, some will turn their heads the other way....
you completely disregard all the exceptional creative modern artists that make fantastic music even in hip hop and claim this music is best even though it isn't even particularly unique or experimental. You think we are ignorant for our tastes when we find details that you brain cant begin to pick up on
I'm listening to this and I'm not exactly old. buuuuut, I'm about to use it in a hard rap song haha
@robert glenn l listen to kanye, still have a gpa over 4
Cardi B is the best
Simon Hager What have you learned from Kanye?
Absolutely gorgeous music! Thanks guy's
Gorgeous music. Thanks Ambrosia!
Too bad David became a jesus freak. Blech. Sucks the creative juices right out of your head.
@Routphase Warped by dogma? No more so than the effects that smoking crack have had on you.
As opposed to being an atheist?
He sold out to the Pop Gods, and is now doomed to be playing the County Fair circuit for Eternity!!
Huh? He's far more successful than the members of Ambrosia. They're the ones playing the Pop Festivals for the rest of their days.
Neal Morse of Spocks Beard became a "Jesus freak" and for the last 15 years has been the most creative, prolific song writer/musician I've ever heard. Full disclosure: I too am a "Jesus freak".
Classic American Prog Rock. One of the greatest recordings and use of a Pipe Organ in Rock Music!
awsomness
love this..great song, had the pleasure of hanging out with david a few times in the mid 90's, met him threw a friend michael McDonald he and david are good friends and have done lots of work together.
: D
>Deeply spiritual, talented writers and musicians.
completely..
super album from start to finish...(I have the LP) ✫
Nice, nice, very nice!
Great story! I also got to meet the guy's after a show here in Las Vegas,,like 06 or 07 Casino bar. Very inspirational.
Who would dare to give a thumbs down to this?? Must be the devil himself. Some of the best wrote stuff on the planet!
a softer " boston " feel i think !!!
right on, that's a pretty sweet story!
Deeply spiritual, talented writers and musicians.
After they performed in Sacramento a decade ago, I was privileged to time my cigar just right & when re-entering the bar, finding Ambrosia were just sitting down to order drinks.
I walked up to the bar and, interrupting him asking the band what they would like, boldly said, "Whatever they want, Bartender, the first round is on me".
A small gift back to some of the finest & most heart warming musicians & performers I've been blessed to meet.
Final cut off Ambrosia's debut album and easily their best!
Nice, Aris...
