I see some similar themes here to the book A Monster Calls written by Patrick Ness. A boy with a giant being who helps him understand the struggle he's going through. Lots of overlap with the duo destroying the house together and the robot head landing on the kid at the end, hinting that the idea of the robot was created by the boy. Powerful stuff.

+Echo Of Darkness I think that the cardboard man is a depiction of his imagination. I don't think the kid and baymax really went out at night. The kid was just imagining it all. Also, you saw the child with a cardboard box on his head in the beginning, as if he was closed in his own mind. However, he just stardet imagining his adventures with baymax after he inserted the batteries. At the end, when the kid took the batteries out of baymax, I think it was a metaphor for the kid opening up more for its surroundings, as emphasized by the open door at the end.
(Also, it was really cool to see that when that door opened, the singer sung "let the light in")
