Amaranthe - That Song Lyrics

It was a hard time living in the city
Broke my mind, I was trying hard to fit in
Somehow I tried to belong
They were always telling me that I was wrong
I was running around, I was chasing a dream
They had their eyes on the dirty limousine
I had to decide, I was coming along
And then it changed when you sang me that song

Oh-oh, sing me that song
At least there's some song bringing me home
Oh-oh, same old song
I left my soul sold, play me rock and roll
Oh-oh, sing me that song
At least there's some song bringing me home
Oh-oh, same old song
I left my soul sold, play me rock and roll

It was a rough time, running out of money
Had a guitar and my jacket on my shoulder
Somehow I tried to be strong
But everyone just told me that I tried for too long
When you come to the room, well you have to decide
I tell you not to fight it and it will be alright
I've got chains deep inside now I can't live without it
And yes you are right, they are playing my song

Oh-oh, sing me that song
At least there's some song bringing me home
Oh-oh, same old song
I left my soul sold, play me rock and roll
Oh-oh, sing me that song
At least there's some song bringing me home
Oh-oh, same old song
I left my soul sold, play me rock and roll

Woo-oo, everybody come along
We're together for one night and together we belong
Woo-oo, the best is yet to come
There's no reason why we can't keep singing that song

Oh-oh, sing me that song
At least there's some song bringing me home
Oh-oh, same old song
I left my soul sold, play me rock and roll
Oh-oh, sing me that song
At least there's some song bringing me home
Oh-oh, same old song
I left my soul sold, play me rock and roll

    Black stil e ;)))

  2. Aurinkohirvi

Like Elize's voice in the end, where she gets to do the "yeaaaah, yeaaah" in the bacground.

  3. Branko Krýže

Will anybody ever explain me why music like this is not on the radio? Why I have to connect my phone to my car to hear this instead of some autosync pop-shit?

  15. Raven Neri

Why didn't jake e stay in Amaranthe 😭😭😭😭😭

    Nebuloz

He left them b/c of "that song", literally. Creative differences and the group started to become more pop than rock.

    Raven Neri

@Nebuloz Yeah I could see that

  16. Justin Casar

Damn it i was trying to figure out the title to this song and i thought my friend was trolling me saying oh its "that song"

  17. Jack Storm

Is it just me or does this sound like Halestorm?

  18. Turbofuss

Just because that song isnt that hard, it doesnt mean it isnt great! Good Job!

  19. Krista Laine

    This one. Wow. 👌

  20. wildmanbg6996

Been following them ever since they came out love the band. Think it's great they changed it up to try to get new listeners that song has the sound of the 90s music which sounds great hope they do more. I will always be a true fan of theirs.

  21. deathdealer toallpeople

One thing I have noticed with amaranthe is that the guitarist's solo follows almost the same steps as previous solos in songs! Your better than that! Mix it up!

  22. Fredrik Norrman

    Fuck yes!!!

  23. Joe Anthony

Not my style either, but if bands don't experiment and try new styles they turn into a boring parody of themselves. Just listen to the other songs, this one won't reduce your enjoyment of the others and I'm sure one of the band members really wanted to try something a little more popish to go along with the metal.

  24. John Philippatos

Ok, this is Britney Spears with (not so) hard guitar riffs and 13 seconds solo. Not my style, thank you.

    Sataandagi96

Well, there's the search bar, you're welcome to listen to other things, but let others enjoy the song.

    northerntruthseeker

Seriously??? Britney washed up Spears could not even hold Eliza's beer.....

  25. Krista Laine

    ♥️🤘

  26. Stan STU Taylor

it is the best they will give till better, stronger stuff! Stop being SNOWFLAKES!

  31. Kambola

    Русские есть?

  32. Svatava Reznickova

    si borec!

  33. The Gator

What genre is Amaranthe exactly? Pop metal?

    Dreamscape Camper

Pretty sure they've stopped caring about Genre and just make whatever they damn well feel like.

  34. Nikolaj Christensen

Imagine being an aurther or painter and only being allowed to write/paint one genre. Stop with the hating guys. music isn't about doing the same shit over and over, it is evolving, experimenting and having fun!

  35. haha die slowly

    2019 anyone?

  36. DunPat69

This song is like pop/metal but good all the same

  37. White Pearl

Wer hört dieses Lied noch in einer Schleife? * - *

  38. Byron Ortiz

  39. sapancho 1

  43. Hadouken Hadouken

@00:35 no ass at all. Kyrie Irving was right the earth is flat.

  44. igorek dekan

    Nas_есфак

  45. Rockbert

Heard this in my Spotify recomendations. Maybe the best recomendation I got been a user. I love Amaranthe now (metal and slow songs equally)

  46. That 1 Dude

Don't get the hate, Im loving it. Yea, it's kind of "pop-y" but they've always had a hint of pop in their music. Honestly, it reminds me of an updated take on late 80's rock. Joan Jett would have been a great addition to this.

  47. Semantic Samuel

Right folks: take away all your preconceptions about music, artists and genres. Forget about them. Heterosexual men, try to also forget that Elize is hot as hell (and homosexual men, same goes for you guys with the male members of the band, because let's face it, Jake is a good-looking guy, and vice versa for women). Judge this song purely on quality. Most of us listening to this will likely be metalheads who don't particularly like pop. It's undeniably a catchy song. Is that a bad thing? It has an anthem-like beat that others have noted sounds a bit like Queen's We Will Rock You (and who doesn't like Queen?). The solo is pretty cool. Nothing to write home about, but fun and fits the song. Imagine a world where Britney and a near-endless stream of generic pop bands and artists don't exist: would you like this song? Rather than dismiss it as being 'pop-y' ask yourself specifically what you don't like about it.

Amaranthe are not a hyper-sophisticated band. If I want to listen to something more technical and musically interesting I'll put on some Dream Theater, Animals as Leaders or Intervals. That doesn't mean I can't also gain enjoyment from listening to something that's just straight-up catchy and fun like Amaranthe. Pop, when it's done well, is perfectly legitimate. Pop bands like ABBA are (were...) more sophisticated than we give them credit for: catchiness doesn't just happen, and these bands sorts are seriously talented songwriters.

  48. Conner Darland

not gonna lie.... this is pretty fuckin catchy.

  49. RUBYRUBYM

    3:00 xdddd

  50. Random Order

Does anyone have the lyrics? I want to know the words and I can't find them

  51. Steinn Bjorn

Why there is so much whining about this song? It's fucking great, so catchy, it's really brings the same vibe as "we will rock you", as someone in the comments noticed. Nothing wrong about it. I love death metal, metalcore, deathcore, thrash, etc. completely not a pop music lover, and I know Amaranthe for their modern metal music, but damn, this song is awesome, can't stop listening to it, and it's great, that Amaranthe do what they want, and they really should

  52. HReem08

they are singing a song about a song

  53. S FalleN

    😚😚😚love u amaranthe

  54. Clem Foua

i came looking for a song .. and i found that song... i mean That Song. and i was great.. i mean.. that song, That Song, was great... you .. oh well you understood me...

  55. Dustin Bradshaw

    Nice song

  56. Brian Griffin

Wow, she sounds EXACTLY like Rihanna 😕

  57. Wrathchild1995

Why does Elize sound so much like bloody Rhianna on this song XD Really annoys me, definitely one of their worst songs. Thank god on the new album Helix she doesn't sound like this anymore.

  58. Elżbieta Tomaszewska

    Super muza 👌 🇵🇱

  59. Ronette Elisabet

    😍😍😍😍😍😍😍

  60. Andrew Marman

I don't care what anyone thinks, this song is lit and this whole album is a fuckin banger.

    !BR" ÓTIMO"

  68. By-Tor

Man the camera LOVES this girl

  69. jamesp81

I’ve recently discovered this band. The thing that impresses me is the way they can mix genres seamlessly.

Take this particular song as an example. It’s a little bit pop, a little bit urban, a little bit classic rock, and a little bit of what I’d call blue collar / working man’s blues. That’s a *lot* of very disparate elements to try to make one cohesive whole out of, but Amaranthe does it and makes it look easy.

  70. Julien lavigne

perfect song, but the clip is not very good. i dont like it. the videoclip.

    2019?

  75. Bailey Serrao

This certainly isn't the best song they've made, but it is enjoyable and fuck me if it doesn't just get you pumped. I now listen to Amaranthe right before work

  76. Jason Nielsen

Definitely different then the usual Amaranthe but I gotta admit even though it's a little pop sounding it's catchy

Amaranthe keeps on rocking it! Keeping it a little too current here & mixing genres. The solo guitar riffs and singing are great & the tune is catchy. But I like their old style better. “That Song” was released as a single on 03 October 2016 on Spinefarm Records; It was also released on 21 October 2016 on the album “Maximalism.” Produced by Jacob Hansen, Jakob Herrmann, Olof Mörck and Elize Ryd. The Members of Amaranthe are: Clean Female Vocalist: Elize Ryd, Clean Male Vocalist: Jake E. Lundberg, Guitarist & Keyboardist & Programmer: Olof Mörck, Bass Guitarist: Johan Andreassen, Unclean Vocalist: Henrik Englund Wilhemssom and Drummer: Morten Løwe Sørensen. The Lyrics for “That Song” were written by Olof Mörck, Jake E. Lundberg & Elize Ryd and the Music was written by Olof Mörck & Elize Ryd. Amaranthe Rocks! 🎸😎🤘🏻-Moderator-🤘🏻😎🎸

  87. Panni Zs

Guys, stop, please! Everyone says here "wtf happened? Where's the metal" etc. But what about you're speaking? Amaranthe is still a metal/rock band, but that's also good if they make some pop style to their's songs. This is what makes them the best: they don't do the same on every album: they try new styles. If you're so choosy, go to another band, and don't comment here "wtf". Thanks. They have more and more adorable fans. And we make them happy. If you're simple and don't like the change, leave them alone. They don't need your hate, and your opinion. We, the real fans, who never will let them alone, we are with them. And anyone from the band, if you see this, please come to Hungary. Love you, Elize, Olof, Henrik, Morten, Nils, and Johan!

  88. Brian Dougherty

    the Rihanna of metal <3.

  89. Deniz Patzel

Really nice song, I love it

  90. Adam Gregory

The appreciation of music is to accept the altering styles of bands and their ability to vary the offering, I love the heavier side of Metal and have quite varied music tastes, this particular track is quite refreshing, very upbeat and fun, surely this is what music should also be about, i have only just discovered this band but they certainly make it onto my list as one of my favourite bands..... Keep up the great work and I look forward to seeing them at 2018's Bloodstock Festival.

  91. Tink

People commenting about the style change clearly never listened to Electroheart lol. You do you Amaranthe, it always sounds badass :D

  92. Justin Main
