Why did this song have to come true?

This song came out shortly after my divorce and it so clearly described the death of our relationship...it was frightening...it was tragic...it was spot on. This is the song that allowed me to move past a lifetime of "men don't cry"...it allowed me to feel the pain that that I had shut away...it allowed me to cry unashamedly (eventually) and it still brings tears to my eyes whenever I hear it (sometimes even on purpose). As always, thank you, Amanda! I will forever continue to wear Slayer shirts to your shows...

My relationship’s sitting around exhibit B. But sometimes when he’s asleep and I brush against him, he grabs my arm, pulls me to him, and holds me with a big smile on his face. I guess his defenses are down when he’s half asleep.

I still can't sing along to this song without getting too choked up for any sound to come out. This is still one of the most heartbreaking songs I've ever heard.

The story gets to me every time I hear the song. To think how many people go through life dealing (or NOT dealing) with their relationships in this way... I've been there. I hope the song serves as a wakeup call to people who've ended up in that place, where asking seems impossible. Your relationship(-s) and life a dead end. We have to ask. The art of fucking asking. We won't always get the answer we want, but even the wrong answer is better than remaining in the vacuum of that kind of life.

This is the kind of shit  that makes me so fucking mad as a musician!!!! This woman is drenched in musical talent, songwriting, voice, instrumental ability, theatrical presentation, imagination, creativity, free spirit, originality, and high musical diversity...and yet she is not all over the radio, television, newspaper, music magazines and selling out stadiums everywhere, and why is she not???  Here is the answer!!!  Because Americans,  and I suspect most of the rest of the world has been so musically dumbed down with the corporate fucking horseshit and mediocre dance beat (4 on the floor),...stupid untalented young guy or half dressed pretty no singing whore...making videos for the masses of dumb fucks who would not recognize musical talent if it beat them into a fucking coma! They would awake and ask,"What was that.?..I'm not sure what it was but I didn't like it".  Lee View from a year ago is right on the money!!!! This woman and this tune is great!!!!! I have listened for over an hour now and I have not heard one bad song!!! They are excellent to very damn good and this tune should be a smash fucking hit if I ever heard one!!!! And why am I just hearing of Amanda Palmer now??? Simply because SHE IS A TRUE MUSICAL ARTIST WITH GREAT TALENT AND THE MUSIC INDUSTRY IS FUCKING GARBAGE!!!! They cater to the lowest denominator of music and those who use what they think is great music as background noise for their low lives such as smoking, doping, drinking and mindless fornicating!!! It is simply a disgrace that Amanda Palmer is not a HUGE WORLD WIDE STAR because she deserves to be. She has so many touches of classic punk, pop, rock, quasi-classical, broadway and avant-garde..brings to my mind artist like David Bowie and Freddie Mercury. She has instantly become one of my favorite artist!!!

@Gilbert Carter At the same time, because her fanbase is more intimate, she can be more intimate in return. She doesn't care about writing hits. I suspect she just wants to write out her soul into the music, and the (comparatively and relatively) few of us that vibrate on her wavelength get to enjoy something very, very special that the rest of the world can't understand. =)

I've grown up with Amanda Palmer singing the songs of my soul... my angsty, ridiculous teenage years with the Dresden Dolls as my soundtrack, and now hearing music like this in my 20's, connecting with my fears and thoughts as I age. I hope to hear more from her soon. Amanda, you're my hero. Thank you for being you and sharing yourself so freely.
