I think about this a lot. My mother passed away when I was around 8, and I became severely depressed. I only recently found this song, and it makes me feel some sort of unknown emotion, like a mix of understanding, nostalgic, and contentment.
It’s also so upbeat but the theme.. damn. I love the lyric ‘nothing’s ever lost forever, it’s just caught inside the cushions of your couch and when you find it you’ll have such a nice surprise’ and ‘no one’s ever lost forever, they’ll visit you occasionally, do not be afraid’
My life has always been tough. While I’m an atheist, I believe in ghosts and this just makes me feel happy. If I ever feel suicidal, I remind myself of this song. Thanks Amanda. I love you.

I lost my dad when I was so young I loved him more than anything and for as long as I can remember my life goal has been to be just like him but it’s getting so hard to remember his voice,,the way he smiled, and how he would always be there when I needed him he was my best friend and I wanna be with him more than anything I wish i could’ve been there when he had a stroke i was gonna stay home with him but he told me not to so I just didn’t and I regret it every day. If I had been there to call a ambulance maybe I would still have my dad. I love him more than anything I hope he knew just how much I love him. It hurts more every day but I hope that if the afterlife is real he’s playing with his dogs and sitting with his dad and brothers I just hope he’s happy.

Edit: 3 weeks ago, I wrote this comment. My Grandpa died 1 week ago. His funeral is today. I’ve never been to a funeral :(

I used to be able to listen to this song without crying. And then my friend's young daughter died, I loved her very dearly. I end up in tears before the end of the song every time I hear it now. Five months later, and I still cry. It's a very powerful song.

I just lost my grandfather. He had an accident and just like that he's gone. At this point, I just keep repeating the words of this song to myself. This is so hard. I'm sitting here trying to remember things like the last time I hugged him and the last time I said that I loved him. I'm telling myself to remember that no one's lost forever and that he's caught inside my heart, but it's so hard.

I saw this performed live twice last week. Both times I was struck Amanda's ability to make a song have such amazingly complex and meaningful lyrics while also being so addictive and catchy. I would say this is my favorite song on the album, but it is kinda impossible to choose between each uniquely beautiful song. "Theatre Is Evil" is even better than I ever could have hoped.

also, I love how true it is, though. My friend died but he does visit me and is very much a part of my heart, and part of who I am.

Just discoveredAFP this summer...I'm an old fart that was looking for Craig Ferguson stuff..saw Science Fiction Double feature and was hooked.
Seeing the changes you have gone through has been stunning...its like seeing evolution in time lapse. Can't wait for Sept 29 to see it live!!!!
