one of the first and BEST AB songs of all time!!!! so fucking HEAVY!!! IMO it is about religion...MK alluding to several particularly christian-esque sayings and supersitions....raging against the foolish theology of blind faith and hope as would lead to the death of his own father....literally makes him sick.....heavy song in all respects....timeless!

They have many very strong songs but this is definitely my favorite - they really hit the sweet spot here between Soundgarden & early Metallica, with their own unique signature of course. Wonderful.

3:40 - 4:25 There is something about that part of the song that I'll never get tired of listening to. I think it's how the guitar transitions into the same pre chorus rhythm like chords but builds it up with crazy octaves and played with powerful disortion chords instead with Myles slightly changing the way he sings the pre chorus with more emotion. Ben Wright you're for sure wrong about one thing, not all music is amazing. I remember how from like 2006-2013 or something like that, it was just adele and bruno mars and all their crap on the radio. made me want to kms when riding in a friends car and they had the radio on. maybe i just don't like the genre, but i feel like anything that makes me want to puncture my eardrums so i don't hear it anymore can't exactly be qualified as amazing.

@manduh87 It's probally because Mark Tremoti ( lead guitarist) is heavily inspired by Metalica, in fact, he says in a interview that the album the album Master of Puppets was the thing that gave him such a high level of interest in music.

He's one or two good solo's the rest are sloppy as hell... He took lessons from one of the best Instrumental guitar players in the world, he's not using his full talent anymore... Do I think that Metallica has always sucked? No... Do I think that they suck chicken balls now... Yes.

If anything it was because new Metallica songs are almost all, only 5 Chords, much like Nickelback! They've just gotten lazy... Besides, there's a big distinction between the 1st four Metallica albums (awesome!) and the Black Album and everything after. @leftysmith83, I love 80's and 90's Metallica and I like Alter Bridge a lot because of Mark Tremonti. As a guitar player, it is very easy to see that Kirk OFTEN plays the same thing over and tries to play as fast as he can (which he says is how he learned to play). The best Metallica solo is " Nothing Else Matters"- and that is played by James. I LOVE the black album! Mark Tremonti is a better guitar player.

@Cajunninja65 As for the "All time great song by Alter Bridge" Comment thats not hard to answer at all. The band isn't quite old enough to have a "All time great song" But If it were Up to me to pick them I would pick. Blackbird, Rise Today, Watch Over You and Find the Real. Because every one of those especially Blackbird and Watch over you have great lyrical soul to them, And the guitar solos are filled with feeling and the fast parts to the solos fit perfectly but the slow are just perfect

And whether you Metallica lovers want to admit it or not Metallica has gotten very sloppy and lazy with their writing! Kirk just repeats his solos over and over. Mark uses so much theory and puts real work into his solos... Well actually all his music. I sorta liked older Metallica when they were really good. But now a days. Alter Bridge beats them!

I love Slash. He's a great player. Yeah Mark is very underrated. Hey if you like both Myles and Mark you should check out the stuff they did with Sevendust for their new album. Mark is on "Hope" And Myles is on "Sorrow" They did great.

Mark is 100 times better than Kirk. Kirk just repeats himself over and over and over. Listen to him and look at his guitar tabs sometime. Most of their songs are in E minor and he just plays the same scale over and over. Where as Mark doesn't. Now that he's been in Alter Bridge and even in the new Creed stuff you get to hear his talent and he's one of the greater guitar players of this generation. Thats just my opinion. I know Kirk fans will hate me but thats what I think.

Kirk and Hatfield aren't half as good on the guitar as Mark Tremonti. And Hatfield can't even compete with Myles' voice. They easily beat the hell out of Metallica!
