greatest song ever. reminds me of my mom....i was in prison when she passed and the state took me to see her the day b4 she passed....i made a promise to her to change my life for the better. that was march 14th 2009 and i made parole the day after i buried her. since then ive drastically changed my life. i came out of prison with a broken heart, a loss and all i owned i wore,,,,,,,Today im worth $12 million. i struggled and started my own painting company.....she was a renowned artist and im the only one of 4 children who inherited her gift......miss her and wish she could see how far ive come from the louisiana state pen for doing my now exwifes charge which i got 12 yrs for......mom always stood by me because she knew i took that lick out of love for another....

I always liked this song. Than I learned the words by listening to it so much and this song has a deep meaning to it. For me at least when I sing it out the songs about moving forward in life by getting rid of the memories that made us feel good. That's why he says purge my love shed my skin are you ready for me. This songs deep I think one of my favorite songs I ever heard. The golden line "a bitter sinking feeling to wake to the fact there's no going back to the world in which I was living. I'm searching for something but found less than nothing I watch the rising sun. Hope I find some peace today it seems I've gone away. It's my song to a t I'm haunted by the memories of lost love and it keeps me awake so I'm basically almost watching the sun every morning. The ready for me parts the best cause its symbolic to how truly it will all be ok despite being tormented by these women of my past who told me they loved me and I almost felt it was all to real but we gotta shed the skin and memories will always be within our hearts to keep forever like a butterfly tht once was a caterpillar it had to shed its skin now it's beauty is a butterfly this songs amazing I love this song I can relate to this song at 26 guess that's why when I see a person my age listening to some uneducated music they just need to stop and listen to stuff like this

I had cancer when I was just ten, I never spoke to many people about it (I'm a guy who chooses his friends very well, doesn't have many of them, there a phrase that describes me very well "I like to be alone, but I don't like to feel alone"), and that always made me feel kinda broken in future years (like the song refers), in a way that I can't really explain, it kinda made me a different person, I was still me but I wasn't totally me, I never felt confortable enough, I wasn't able to do what was best for me, I wasn't doing so well. This year though, I changed. A lot. I met a girl who was the first girl I ever truly loved, I had the guts to tell her that, but it didn't go my way, she liked me a lot, just not in that way. She eventually got in a relationship with a guy who she knew for a very long time, they liked eachother but never told one another (maybe my situation sparked the move), and they are both in the same class as I am, so you'd imagine that left me in a very dark place for, I'd say months. I eventually got through it, and I am eternally grateful to her because she made me become me again after all these years, I didn't get her but she will always be special to me. This song means that much to me because of that, I wasn't me for a lot of years, I lost myself, but all that happened this year made me become me again, and as the song says "Are you ready for me?" Thank you for reading this. :)

This song reminds me of the sleepless nights I spent in my first year in high school. I could see the streetlights shining through the windows, painting everything with an orange glow. I remember telling myself: " This time I will do better. I won't fuck up like I did before." With this song, I started the road of retracing myself, finding who I was. Not who I thought or was conditioned to be, but my true self. I'm still on this road 'til this very day and I can't thank Alter Bridge enough for that.

This song is actually about how Mark (Tremonti) had no friends in Florida and how that and his moms sickness made him feel like a misfit. Therefore Mark found solace in his guitar. I think you can clearly hear that in the lyrics and I also think you can hear a little (or a lot) of Creed in it too. Mark is an amazing songwriter and melody maker! I've been aware of that ever since I heard Creed back in 1998 and since then he's been my inspiration as a guitarist, but also as far as just being a humble, caregiving, introvert, down to earth and cool guy. Mark is an inspiration to us all if there ever was one. Go Mark!!!

Man! Alter Bridge sure can write some powerful and unique lyrics and everyone can relate to. That's real talent.

this was life changing music for me in 2004,its 2015 and nothing has changed since,in my opinion this is the greatest,most underrated and ignored rock album/cd of all time,i am a long time musician wannabe,(an accomplished drummer and singer,nothing close to Myles though)and i can hear all the influences in this cd,i think i have been gifted with this weird ability to weed out musical bullshit and there is none present in this awe inspiring masterpiece,just my opinion,i am always open for debate,47 yrs old and still an alterbridge believer.
