The first minute of this songs has to be the most atmospheric section I've ever heard in my entire life. The chord progression is epic, Myles whisper verses are out of this world and then Mark's short lick with Myles singing "ohhh uhhh" in the background is so goosebumps inducing, melancholic and simply beautiful... The rest of the song is incredible too, but that particular part has crept onto me

Discovered these guys about a month ago. THEY ARE AMAZING ! This song has given me chills every time I hear it. God how haven't more people heard of these guys. The talent in this band is mind boggling. Its rare that every song on on an album rocks but all their albums are like that. I've actually had the Blackbird album on my computer for a few years and never listened to it. So glad I found out what I was missing !!! I hope this band gets the huge recognition they deserve.

It's sounds like Burn It Down from the first album. Alter Bridge is actually pretty solid group, but - sad to say - they are repeating themselfs again and again.

man, just check Burn It Down out. you must be completely deaf if you really don't hear any obvious similarities. albums are a bit diffrent, but most of the songs are based on the same, conventional pattern.
Mark's riff are very sophisticated and powerful, but in any case it sounds very schematic. especially the heavier tracks, which always progress exactly the same way.
not to mention about solemn and exalted chorus played on power chords in any fucking song. in addition: sung in exactly the same way. in very simmilar hight. i could easly hum the melody most of the songs before i even hear the chorus - more or less, but anyway. i already know they gonna use power chords suported by Myles' pompous, epic mannerism. mentioned "epicness" is actually Alter's modus operandi for every single track. they're trying to hard to make a big, monumental music, but somewhere in the road they lost a creativity. not every single track must be epic and bombastic to be good. can't you imagine they wrote something out of this scheme? AB suffer to the lack of ideas for a very loong time. thats why i'm really tired of this formula.

slashs guitar style is much more clean than ab ., slashs song is much more easy to listen

Yeah, I think Mark Tremonti leans toward a thrashy guitar tone, whereas Slash excels in the hard rock/blue rock side, hence the difference. I like both personally

Alter Bridge is one of my 3 favorite bands and Blackbird was my favorite album of all time... Until i listened to Fortress.

@Mike Russo One Day Remains was the first album I listened to after Creed broke up, I didn't know what to expect but the song "Open Your Eyes" and video completely blew me away, after listening to Myle's vocals I forgot who the hell Scott Stapp was!!! So many amazing songs on One Day Remains and the fact that it was their first as Alter Bridge it has a special place in my heart. Also I can't make up my mind if I like ABIII or Fortress more!!! Stop making so many great songs AB!!!
