Allman, Gregg - House Of Blues Lyrics

She was tough and she was fine, like a hard tail 49
And she took me for a ride, I lost me head
Well I did not see the sign, cause her love had drove me blind
But it's too late, the lights are turning red

Well she left me next to nothing, another broken fool
Standing in the cold wind, howlin' at the moon
Some were born to win the game, some were born to lose
And they spend their nights inside the house of blues

I was cold and I was hungry, oh too short of money
Not too well, what the hell I'm still in pain
When this house is not a home, I know I'm not alone
Well I know just where to go when love is gone

She left me here with nothing, waiting here for something
Something I could believe in
Some were born to win the game, some were born to lose
And they live their lives every night in the house of blues

Well she left me here with nothing, another broken fool
Standing in the cold wind, howlin' at the moon
Some were born to win the game, some were born to lose
And they spend their nights inside the house of blues

Well some were born to win the game, some were born to lose
And they spend their nights, every night inside the house of blues
Every night, every day and every night
Well they spend their lives inside the house of blues

Anyone liking this or saying there's no good music out there. Take a listen to Blackberry Smoke. Charlie Starr second best white blues singer behind Greg. Musicianship is off the charts. Played with George Jones,ZacBrown, Hell Rev. Billy F. Gibbons played a great rendition of Deep Elem blues it's a great traditional song BBS plays regularly acoustic and electric versions.

Saw Gregg last summer at Interlochen Music Academy in Michigan. He still sounded great and gave a wonderful concert. Peter Frampton did the other half of the concert and excelled as well.

Stolen is a harsh word. I'm sure credit is given to whomever first did this song. Gregg Allman and his band covers it and did a fantastic job. a lot of artists cover other people's music. thats just the way it is. I would consider it an honor if Gregg covered any of my songs.

  19. C.... C....

This song is one of his great solos....like it was made for him.  His voice is tops and so is the music.

  20. J.... S....

I love the ABB, but sometimes Gregg's amazing vocals got lost in the big sound..I love the awesome guitar work, Butch and Jaimo's drumming, but sometimes it's nice just to hear Gregg's vocals clear and uninhibited. Thanks

    J.... S....

    My sentiments exactly!!

  21. C.... S....

If you get the chance to see Gregg play on his own, take it! He has always sounded great at his solo shows and he played this song at the last Gregg Allman and Friends show that I went to! It was soooooo good!!! I can't wait... going with my dad (my concert buddy) next Wed. to see Gregg Allman (That will make it the 4th Gregg Allman Solo show.... Seen ABB 3 times and OMG could see them 100 more times and would still be wanting more!

  25. s.... D....

    UN PLACER A MIS OIDOS!!!!

  26. R.... B....

I would say next to Laid Back this is Gregg Allman's best solo album. I found this in a used cd store it was in pristine condition. That makes me think some poor son of a bitch never got to hear this great blues album. Discovered (December,2008) on one of my Southern Rock kicks i remember it well, it must have been minus 2 or 3 at the time when i heard this song album for the first time.

  27. M.... ....

If you don't own this CD, you're missin out. Not a bad song on it. One of his best IMO, with not alot of recognition of this particular album.

  28. o.... ....

PS zack with BLS "Time waits for no man" what a classic song. hope some of you check them out- all the best.

  29. o.... ....

Had this album years and got a lot of friends into it, what a tune and voice anyone reading this and liking the track might want to also check out Johnny Langs "the darker side" similar style of tune but also Brilliant. You can also see Gregs influence on Zakk wylde with his best album "Book of shadows" another classic album hope you guys go find it if you've never heard Zack's stuff maybe try " Sold my soul" and go from there "Dead as yesterday, Road back home, between heaven and hell" peace

  30. c.... g....
