Allman Brothers Band, The - Need Your Love So Bad Lyrics

I need someone's hand to lead me through the night
Need someone's arms, to love and squeeze me real tight.
And when the lights are low, when it's time to go,
I need your love so bad.
I need some soft lips to hold so close to mine
Need someone to stand up and tell me when I'm lyin
When the lights are low, and when it's time to go,
I need your love so bad.
So give it up, and bring it on home to me.
Oh you can write it on a paper so it can be read to me.
Tell me you love me, stop drivin' me mad,
Cause I need your love so bad.
I needed some voice, to take me through the night,
Don't you worry baby, I will not fuss and fight.
Well listen to my plea, now bring it on home to me,
Cause I need your love so bad.
Well, I need your love soooo bad.
Soooo bad. So baaad. Soooooo bad.

That's Janet Dickenson through most of it...it's right off the album just with a video and the lyrics and she didn't work cheap in her hey day...he either dated her, or paid her a great deal of money to do this...SHE probably had a crush on him...

I hope each and every night you feel the whisper of your name from my lips as I wish you goodnight. Good night , my immortal beloved.

  5. T.... C....

Sorry for the peter, but it's the most blues version

    T.... C....

Ambas versiones son interesantes, hay que recordar que el tema es original de John Mertis, tambien conocido como Little Willie John. ;)

  6. E.... E....

    Hah he prefers peter

  7. T.... C....

    i prefer allman's version!
it sounds like a real true blues

    T.... C....

This is him right off the album, it's just got that video with what's her name? That model from back then...Janis or Janet...she is really crass...was known to start a scene or ten...I forget, she had a show on TV not too long ago. She's real young here. Same version though.

    T.... C....

    Janet Dickenson..that's her name!

    S.... P....

Peter Green one of the originators of Fletwood Mac

    S.... P....

Just indicates your in-depth knowledge of Blues music !!!!!!!

  11. p.... j....

good job but it doesn't compare with Peter Greens version

    p.... j....

Ambas versiones me parecen geniales, aunque considero que ambas tienen su sello personal, difícil decantarse por una sola... ;)

    great song , thanks 4  ---> posting !

  13. D.... T....

The ultimate version here. So awesome and very sophisticated arrangement. Hours and hours to figure this out by ear!

    D.... T....

    really?

    D.... T....

Wow, I should give it up then mate. :-)

    D.... T....

I think the ultimate version is the Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac one

  14. F.... C....

Much different from that of Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac....a very nice interpretation....but I think in this particular case I prefer Peter's.

    F.... C....

And more much different from the original version.... by Little Willie John.
By the way, I believe that Fleetwood Mac's version at the Shrine (69) is the best.

    F.... C....

just so happens this song has been interpreted by more artists than any other blues song I can think of.....Peter, Little Willie John, BB King, etc......

    F.... C....

    Agreed. '69 Shrine nails it.

    F.... C....

Good for you. I've heard both, and this one is far superior.

I'm confused. Are you suggesting that John Mertis wrote this song? I hope not, because this is a Little Willy John tune.

    s.... ....

    @robcockay ne
Now there's an interesting piece of information!

    s.... ....

@robcockay ne apparently Mertis was LWJ's older brother, Willie donated the song to him http://songoftheweekblog.com/2013/09/18/song-of-the-week-52-need-your-love-so-bad-little-willie-john/

    s.... ....

Mertis John wrote and published the song in 1955. Little Willy John (his younger bro) did the first recorded version. http://www.discogs.com/artist/643934-Mertis-John

    s.... ....

+robcockay ne In general, the understanding is that Mertis was Willie's brother. I wasn't there, but this is the first time I've seen it suggested they were the same person (you might be right, but many sources--other than Wikipedia--say otherwise).

    s.... ....

Interesting discussion. If Mertis and Willie were the same person, maybe all the singing John siblings (Mertis, Willie, Haywood, Mable, and Mildred) were really the same person. Of course, it would have hard to pull off the ruse when they performed on the same stage as a quintet, but who am I to say that a YouTube comment is wrong?

  17. K.... N....

thanks for this...now how 'bout "Blind Love?"

    K.... N....

Gracias a ti por comentar, veremos que se puede hacer con "blind love" :)
