Allen Stone - Last To Speak Lyrics
I know exactly where we're headed,
Science won't give God any credit,
And the church says as long the prophet said it,
It's good enough for the church to be fed it,
There's four thousand different interpretations,
We need to get to the core of the situation,
And stop bitchin' 'bout same-sex relations,
And the chapel says it's non-profit, yeah,
'Cept if the prophet wants a Benz, he goes and cops it,
And growing up wealth was never topic, no,
My daddy never had bread up in his pocket, oh,
And my tax dollars only teach abstinence,
'Cept half the girls I grew up with got pregnant,
Instead of scholarships, they got carriages,
And Martin Luther King (Jr.) had a vision,
So this must be a blind generation,
And it seems that we've become a nation,
Manipulated by the congregation,
And we will never find racial unity,
Unless we find equal opportunity,
Well, I will never rest for immunity,
'Cause I was born and raised in a Caucasian community,
The less-fortunate are run,
By their desires for these poisons,
Your meth, crack and heroin,
They are the kings of the underprivileged kingdom,
And there's a phantom epidemic in our nation,
And this phantom epidemic's education,
Entertainment and recreation--they take priority over shaping generations,
And what about the media?
Quit believing every single thing they're feeding ya,
The view of our political agendas,
Is swayed by political vendetta,
And I am just a son of illegitimates,
And I'm just another bitch with an instrument,
And whoring out my personal opinions,
And whoring out my personal convictions,
And, yes, I believe that the church is in crisis,
And, yes, I believe everybody's got their vices,
But the crisis that provoked me to write this,
Is I know the good I should do, but I always do the opposite,
So I should be the last to speak, yeah,
I should be the last to speak,
I should be the last to speak,
I should be the last to,
I should be the last to,
Well, I should be the last to speak,
I should be the last to speak,
Well, I should be the last to speak,
I should be the last to,
I should be the last to speak.

Dang! The truth right up in our faces! But we can't handle it.
So.... he fuckin snapped.
powerful powerful!!!!!
why am i only hearing this song ow,where is he .....this song is still relevant today because he spoke truth!
4. Years. Ago.
what the flip the lyrics got me speechless
One of the lyrics that stood out to me the most was "And Martin Luther had a vision, so this much be a blind generation". This is so true because Martin Luther King wanted a world where people of different races come together and live in peace. But we failed him, because people started playing the race card once again.
Wow. These lyrics are deep!!! And the truth!
Wow....a powerful piece of music. Incredible vocal performance too.
He sounds so much like Lauren Hill! Loves him soooo much!!!
...going further: we became a world manipulated by diferent "congregations"...congrats Allen S.
I love that he has the balls to sing about relevant politics. This is real music.
I know right, he's a deep man with a real vision and understanding of his own. Girls chasing marriages, ending up with carriages instead of following their dreams. The world is so wrong smh
He speaks the truth in this song.
I'm in love with this.
RIGHT ON ALLEN ! Right on. Love the spirit in which this song is written. Stay open and honest, that's what God is looking for man, no doubt. Aaaaah I'm speechless - oh man - people need to hear this !!!!
"And Martin Luther King had a vision. So this must be a blind generation. And it seems that we've become a nation manipulated by the congregation. And we will never find racial unity unless we find equal opportunity." This friggin lineeeee!

This is the truth that no one is brave enough to hear or brave to say
oh Lordy! Allen is a soul man. time to wake up church. its about love!
Thank you for the lyrics!!
This guy is amazing and inspiring! :) I love you Allen stone!
I love this song!! This is exactly how I feel about organized religion sometimes.
OH MY LORD JESUS!! This man is more annointed than half of these preachers out there. Truth can come in so many forms and the church misses it because it's not under the genre of "Gospel" or "Christian" music. I love this.. His humble spirit speaks so much more than these people forcing the Bible down throats. Trust me. I used to be one who did that.. Thank you Lord for good music and the ability to hope, pray and change!
Dangg this song goes too hard!! he speakin the truth!!
I love this song :)
